  1. I think this idea is the winner. Somebody get Bud on the phone. Yeah, I could get behind this one as well, though I'm sure there's some downside we're not thinking of yet.
  2. I caught Maddox's segment on RAW this past week. Really didn't get what could possibly make him into a star. Maybe he was trying to come off as timid or something, but he didn't seem like much of a potential star on the mike.
  3. Apparently he was traded to Toronto. Edit: Dan Knobler says Royals get cash in the deal.
  4. Yeah, a lot of times they will buy a debt, and try to coerce people with the same name or a similar name to pay for it. Like if it's someone named Joe Smith they'll call every Joe Smith in the country and try to claim it's their debt. Very illegal, but unfortunately they get away with it far too often because they scare people with threats.
  5. My favorite episode was when Vader (from WWF) made a cameo appearance on that show.
  6. The answer to probably the easiest Brewers trivia question ever.
  7. I vote "Yes" to having the DH, and it should be in both leagues. Baseball has become much more specialized (closers, setup men, utility players, etc) over the past several decades. Most pitchers are terrible hitters, and I don't find sac bunts and double switches to be especially compelling or fascinating.
  8. I kind of agree with Crew07. Crew, I think it was you who said in the past that Jeffress has never had the chance to learn how to be a pitcher. He's more like just a thrower at this point. Not sure the Brewers really have the need for a "project" like him at this point.
  9. Yeah, spring training seems to drag on way too long. The players would agree with you.
  10. I wonder if we'll see any of the classic actors in the new series (Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, etc). I would guess Ford would be a long shot, but it's not like Hamill or Fisher are up to a lot these days.
  11. If you can get Greinke for 6 years/$114 million I think you do it, but I think that's a fantastically low estimate. He's going to get more like 6 years and $130 million or something.
  12. One of the funnest moments I've had was going to a game in St. Louis in August 2011, and Nyjer ended up on third. We were seated along the third base line along with scatterings of other Brewers fans. Nyjer threw up the "T" toward our group and we all responded in kind. It was pretty awesome.
  13. From what I heard, he has a power arm but has obvious command issues. Maybe one of the coaches think they can fix him.
  14. Will they follow the books at all (since those are supposed to be "Star Wars canon") or just disregard that and do something new?
  15. Jake Peavy just signed a two year extension with the White Sox, so cross him off the list.
  16. I was skeptical, but a lot of Star Wars fans I've heard from on Twitter say they like the idea of Lucas not controlling the Star Wars movies anymore. Personally I'm pretty much done with Star Wars after how bad "Revenge of the Sith" was.
  17. It doesn't blow me away, but I don't hate it either.
  18. I could see Zack Greinke being a "special case" where the Brewers would be willing to sign him to a fairly large contract because of his popularity with the fan base. No, I don't see that happening as I think we would get outbid by some other club anyway. What I'm getting at is that other than Greinke, I can't really see the team splurging on a big contract this winter.
  19. I think the Brewers will try to save some payroll in order to have more money to spend mid-season if needed. Now that the World Series is over, I find myself oddly excited and optimistic about this winter. I can see Melvin pulling off some big surprise trade this winter. Maybe not to the scale of the Zack Greinke trade, but maybe something close. Except this time I could see dealing a veteran like Weeks or Hart for younger talent.
  20. I actually ended up watching quite a bit more of the playoffs and World Series than I expected. Not sure why...maybe it's just because my wife and I tend to be home more these days, and sometimes there wasn't much else on. I think for many fans though, baseball is one of those sports where it's hard to care unless your team is in it. Most Brewers fans don't have much reason to care for a Tigers/Giants World Series, aside from maybe checking on how Prince Fielder did. I'm sure it was the same in the big markets...most New York fans probably tuned out after the Yankees got swept. I don't know what the answer is, and I'm not sure if there even is an answer. Maybe increased TV ratings and attendance during the regular season is the trade off for the expanded playoffs and consequently lower World Series ratings.
  21. I'm convinced Milwaukee is being used as the hot new free agent buildup team. His agent is probably pushing this idea to guys like Heyman and Olney. That's the only real logical explanation.
  22. No, you're wrong. Real aces find ways to win in big game situations. Justin Verlander clearly isn't a real ace. (Yes, that should be in blue).
  23. I think it's too risky and would cost way too much. We finally have some good young SP depth again, and I wouldn't want to give up any of it right now for one expensive year of a very questionable pitcher.
