    I still don't get how the Cardinals aren't expected to take a big step back without Pujols this year, and having a very shaky rotation in terms of health.

    I don't get what the big deal is about it. Wolf was certainly effective last year, and if it requires Kottaras catching him to help out, so be it.

    I'd make that trade for Sabathia every single time. First playoff appearance in 26 years was well worth it, plus the team got comp picks for losing Sabathia. LaPorta hasn't amounted to anything so far at the MLB level, nearly four years later.

    I saw someone comment on Twitter that Fred Wilpon must be smiling. If the Dodgers sold for $2 billion, I can only imagine the Mets will bring as much if not more. Anyone, I'm glad the Dodgers will (hopefully) have some competent ownership now.

    I've felt for a while that A-Rod will probably break it. I believe Barry Bonds himself has even said this.

    That's awesome, but only 5,000 of the alternate probably means they'll be getting a pretty penny on eBay for a while.

    Just as a small update, Jon Heyman is saying on Twitter this is pretty much a done deal. Should be announced today or tomorrow.

    I have to wonder if Loria lost a bet with someone and had to put that thing in his new ballpark as a result.

    "He's not an elite talente" Not elite, but he's still one of the best catchers in the NL right now. Even halfway decent catchers don't grow on trees, which is why guys like Rod Barajas still have a job in 2012.

    Well, I'm not using winning "as an excuse." I think this idea put out by a few very vocal posters that Melvin is just running the team by the seat of his pants is a rather silly one. Has he made mistakes? Sure. But I think overall his track record shows he is one of the better GMs in the game today. Not the best, but I would say he's a top ten GM.

    You beat me to this by about a minute Sounds good to me. I like Lucroy and it sounds like this deal is about establishing some cost certainty going forward.

    Well, two playoff appearances in a four season span must mean that the "checkers" strategy is working.

    The team is basically going to be in limbo because everyone knows Kohl is going to likely sell the team in the next few years (hopefully sooner than later). Also, in the past he was criticized for being too involved with the team, now seems to have backed off. I guess he can't find a proper middle ground for being involved with the franchise.

    Either way I hope beating Triple H is his last match. He doesn't need to be one of those guys that has a bunch of embarrassing matches just to hang around.

    It seems like the Reds have been the sexy pick in the NL Central for the past several years. I really don't get what the hype is about. They have some nice pieces, but don't feel like a complete package like the Brewers or even the Cardinals, in my view.

    Why the heck are they calling Albert "Lord Tensai?" Is this going to be like the gimmick Terry Funk was supposed to get years ago where he was in Japan so long that he thought he was Japanese?

    (I couldn't find the old tech thread, hence this new post). I didn't think this really existed anymore, but apparently it does. We have a Dell Windows 7 laptop, which is about three years old. I've had sudden blue screen crashes happen three times over the past month or so. The laptop completely resets itself during this process. Anyone have ideas on what could be causing it, or what I can do to stop it? I am usually just running a web browser (Chrome), and not doing any heavy multitasking or anything like that at all. I also run virus protection and do malware scans pretty regularly, so I tend to doubt it's something like that.

    You have to figure a departure from Maryvale is pretty inevitable. A new stadium in Scottsdale would be awesome.

    I really don't buy that Braun is going to be bothered by the heckling and name calling. The guy is a pro, through and through. I'm sure he's been jeered plenty for being "cocky" and whatever.

    There's probably a father-son joke in there somewhere, but I'm going to hold off. "What is Chris Carpenter going to tell his son?" "That he's the greatest pitcher of all time."
