  1. Fortunately, the price on Elijah Dukes is much lower now!
  2. I believe the comedian answer to this problem (I forget who) states: 1. Tilt your head slightly. 2. Stare directly into their eyes. 3. Pucker your lips slightly. 99% of the time, it works every time.
  3. I'm sure we have 20 home games left at least, and you can pick 20 games from those remaining.
  4. I don't know if anyone else is watching, but Sergio is doing his best impression of a Frenchman in the lead of the British Open right now... Playoff underway.
  5. Steroids were illegal, both by law and MLB rules, in 1991. FAY VINCENT MEMO That said, the fact there is more outrage over Bonds damaging his own body than there is about Vick's puppy murdering compound says a lot about what we seem to value as a society. Bonds hasn't kicked my dog, slapped my mother, or slashed my tires. I don't root for him, but the fans on Friday seemed like they would have preferred him dead, and that is somewhat disturbing.
  6. Game etiquette in Milwaukee has always sucked. I wish they would adopt the policy of Colorado (among other cities), where ushers will let you leave, but not go back until there is a stoppage in play (out, ptiching change, end of inning). My 20 pack is the front row of the upper deck, so it hasn't been a problem for me this season. However, whenever I sit somewhere else, it is utterly annoying.
  7. The golden rule of MySpace: If you have less than 1000 friends your an e-loser.
  8. I saw Jeff Cirillo and his family at ESPN Zone in Denver. I left him alone though, as kids were in tow. Though we did have to wait for his kids to finish bowling before we could start. Also, sat REAL close to Ryne Sandberg at a Cubs/Brewers game at Wrigley (nice seats). Color me unimpressed with how he handles himself in public.
  9. That is me, though I didn't bring it up at all during todays game. My explanation is that I root for the home teams (Chicago is closer than Green Bay). Another explanation is that I root for things that lose.
  10. I guess I am one of the lucky ones, as I had a friend in college show me the glory that is brewerfan.net. I never saw how bad the other boards were which led to the creation of this site. Of course, giving up my social life, gaining 100 pounds, and spraying myself in female repellent was a cheap price to pay for the privilege to post here (until Ponytail bans me).
  11. SPIDER PIG I remember people in the chat room quoting SpiderPig, so I figured I'd pass this along (via myspace).
  12. It was a fun year, win or no. I really enjoy playing with you guys, and hopefully we can do it again soon (August?)!
  13. We don't really have a backup first baseman. Pick 'em up! Seriously, this guy was playing when I was born, a dang impressive career, at least in terms of longevity.
  14. One of the main reasons I like it, is because it will be a class in minor league baseball. Sure, I heard of Gallardo, Braun, Weeks, Fielder, and Hardy before they made the show, but this will give me an opportunity to follow someone who could someday become an average MLBer (a more common route). I'm looking at it as a learning experience. That said, if the adopt-a-prospect doesn't pan out, I'm sure it could always be removed (not saying setting it up and taking it down wouldn't be a pain, but it could really add to the site if it works).
  15. edit 2: Sold. Thanks! Time to sell off bobbles for school! http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n310/bball123h/100_1666.jpg The brim of the cap was broken off at one time, but repaired nicely. I'm not sure what to ask, so I suppose $40/obo will suffice. Edit: Sale pending, but just in case, here is a better pic of the brim: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n310/bball123h/100_1668.jpg
  16. If this gets off the ground, I'd love to participate! Dibs on Jonathan LuCroy!
  17. If someone were to reverse this and say the Bucks have been losing because they don't have enough white players, they would be viciously attacked. That is my problem. The way to end racism is to stop using skin color as a basis for ANYTHING, be it sports, politics, or social issues. Milwaukee is pretty horrible in terms of race as (at least from my viewpoint) we have possibly the most segregated city in the nation.
  18. I noticed diversity wasn't celebrated when the team was bad. In 2002 we had Eric Young, Jeffrey Hammonds, Ron Belliard, Alex Ochoa, Bill Hall, Jose Hernandez, Alex Sanchez, Ruben Quevedo, Jose Cabrera, Nelson Figueroa, Valerio de los Santos, and Luis Visciano, yet drew only 1.9 million fans. But Eugene Kane is right. It's not the quality of the players, its the color of their skin that really matters.
  19. GIMPIN, followed by the handicap sign. If I ever run into that person, I want to applaud them.
  20. Please count me in! Thanks Pedro!
  21. BBS 2000, don't remember my city, but i was somehow elected court jester.
  22. I still would like to play RC, RF, SS and P before the season is over. If anyone would be willing to swap with me for an inning or two, that'd be cool.
  23. This is clearly a response to FSN's "L8R", which features sports highlights not done by announcer, but rather done with subtitles in AOL-speak. OMGLOL!
  24. Count me in for either fall softball or football. It was fun playing with you this year Colby, and hopefully we'll see you in a month or two!
  25. Brewer fans tailgate there. I saw no DC natives grilling when I went in '05, but about 10 Wisconsin cars grilling out. So, absolutely, bring out ol' smokey.
