  1. What don’t you like about Gasser? Command is sound, deep arsenal, attacks hitters, has shown he can pitch a lot of innings and not miss a start? I agree he may not have top of the rotation stuff but he at least looks like a good number 3 if not a really nice number 4. To me he seems like a much doper Eric Lauer with more consistency and better stuff. Whats not to like compared to someone like Rodriguez?

  3. Well, I don’t agree with their thinking here; I’ve seen swing changes sited too many times to get my hopes for a 28 year old with a truly putrid major league track record. Hope I’m wrong. I just think a year like this one, suppressing at-bats for guys like Mitchell, Black, and even Wiemer for a guy like this is truly misguided. And yeah was sad to see Avina go for this bum. Anyhow thanks for explaining their rational for this to me.
  4. Can anybody please explain to me why Bauers is on anyone’s list? I really struggle to see what value he has. And also makes more than the minimum so I just don’t see him coming close to making the team. Also I would be shocked if Elvis ain’t in the building to start the year based on how much they loved to use him last year. I also think the chances of the two of Ross and Ashby BOTH being healthy and effective and ready to pitch at the beginning of the year are being overstated. And I think Gasser tends to get overlooked a lot. Out of the three leftie prospects he has the least impressive stuff but by far the lowest reliever risk. He has multiple pitches and knows how to attack and set guys up, doesn’t miss starts and strikes guys out, and has the best command of the 3. I actually believe he will be second on the team in innings pitches this year!
  5. Couldn’t have said it more accurately. Burnes is like a light weight Aaron Rodgers when it comes to that diva stuff. Very light weight but still this kinda spin is right up his and Boras’ alley.
  6. At least this makes me think they’ll get rid of Bauers, who for the life of me I don’t understand why he would be wanted on a major league roster. They need someone to catch 40 to 45 games and a guy who can help DH against righties. This is not surprising to me and seems like a solid low risk signing. Obviously they have their salary level ballpark set before the season. I think their thinking is just because they had to get something for Burns, doesn’t mean they should ignore adding ok talent on the short term. Sometimes guys have an unexpectedly good first half and can be flipped at the tradeline. It does no harm and all of these deals are very short term. I think a lot of people are also overlooking another thing. This is going to be the youngest lineup the Brewers have had in a while. Even if the Brewers internally decided to not try to compete at all this year, it behooves them to have a couple guys like Hoskins and Sanchez in the lineup, as having power hitters takes pressure off others to go all out and start pressing. I think this is exactly what happened to Sal Frelick the last month of the season when Counsell insisted in batting him in the 4th spot - he seemed to start pressing and trying to be a guy who drives runs in instead slapping the ball around and trying to get on base. So adding short term power to the lineup is always a good thing - it’s valuable to the lineup and development of hitters and can also be used as a trade asset, albeit a minor one in this instance. It’s certainly not like he’ll be blocking anyone. If Quero is pounding on the door midyear, they can trade Sanchez :)
  7. Hey I wanted to know if anyone has thoughts on this or knows more than I do. its pretty obvious Junis mostly sucks against lefties. Although, I noticed that his change up usage almost tripled last year from the first couple months of the season to the last two or so. I am not being exact but it’s around there. His second half of the season stats are wayyy better than his first half. I wonder if he finally found the right change and the Brewers see something there that gives them confidence in his ability to start. I mean by the end of the year he was even throwing his change against righties, and it is fairly firm. This gives me more confidence in the deal now that he truly appears to be a three pitch pitcher. Any thoughts from my fellow geniuses?
  8. Hey bud I think its a mutual option, which never get exercised. So I think its 4 mil this year with a 3 mil “buyout” next year or something like that. Hope this helps.
  9. Well, they could have the best farm stocked full of mashers in the world, it still doesn’t change the fact that have not developed one single difference making offensive player who has proven it at the major league level. The Brewers have a fantastic farm system that is deep and wide and have been developing pitchers for years now. But it is not necessarily disparaging to point out an industry accepted fact that the Brewers have had a giant hole in their system at developing hitters for almost a decade. And I am of the mind that that narrative will change this year or next, finally. But until then, it still stands.
  10. Also I have so much faith in the Brewers to get the best out of a pitcher, but for some of the penny pinching moves they’ve done, I think this is too much money for a guy like Junis. He seems like long relief is his best spot.
  11. I actually would be upset if Gasser is not in the bigs to start the year. Technically he has proven more at AAA than probably any pitching prospect in baseball right now. Sending him back again is the kind of thing that can mess with a prospects head. I like depth signings, but if guys like Junis and or Ross are blocking Gasser’s development, not only is that pretty un-Brewers like, but also seem pretty counterproductive. Especially in a year that is somewhat of a “soft rebuild” where they’re letting the young guys play. Can anyone explain to me what I’m missing?
  12. 😳🫣🤔😖😤😠🤬 I’d be having hard words with said editor if I were you! Haha.
  13. I have thought for a long time (and have stated thus on this site before he was a turncoat) that I believe Craig had a lot to do with the Brewers players consistently playing to the low end of their offensive ability in the last several years. I do believe more should have been invested by the front office on that side of the ball, but Craig’s constant lineup shuffling and musical chairs really hurt players’ offensive rhythm in my opinion. Often times someone would find themselves batting 7th or 8th one day, then have a week off, only to find themselves penciled in to the lineup batting 3rd the following day. I just don’t think that helps players find rhythm and timing. Throughout years of offensive underperforming, there was a GM change, players changes, hitting coach changes, Craig was the one constant. I’m not putting all their offensive woes on him, I’m just saying unlike his handling of pitching and locker room, offense is the one place he made the team worse and not better. I am keen to see how a new manager might impact this offensive staleness and see if anyone performs to the best of their abilities on offense instead the lower end.
  14. Well said. And may I say, the use of gallimaufry was absurdly fantastic. I have to say, it’s hard for me to imagine Adames, even amidst a better year than last year, drawing that much interest at the tradeline. I just can’t imagine that many teams giving up a lot of value because they think Willy’s the missing piece over 2 months. I could see, however, a team wanting his stout defense for the entire season. I just think unlike pitchers or guys with a year and a half left on their contract, Willy would be worth trading mid season. I think they should unload him now and let Ortiz run with it! He’s got nothin left to prove at AAA.
  15. Very interesting points to be sure. You are right on the money with Craig. These types of things will be interesting to watch for change in the near future.
  16. I remember wanting the Brewers to draft DL Hall. The Brewers pitching magic might be able to get him to reach his starting potential, but its so tempting to let him fly as a lefty reliever.
  17. Yes he has a full slate of pitches, and occasionally changes arm angle. That is why even though I agree with this article for the most part, I would actually like to see Ashby in this role as apprentice. Coming back from myriad arm issues, combined with the fact that he really is only a three pitch pitcher and has performed better in the bullpen, I think he needs to be brought along very slowly and handled with care. Gasser has already proven he can handle a large workload and retain his stuff throughout a long season of starts.
  18. I wouldn’t mind any of those moves save Trevor Bauer. I would have to consider suicide if I ever found myself rooting for him :(
  19. This is some absurdly wonderful stuff. Gets me hyped wayyy too early. Thank you for providing it :)))
  20. I don’t understand how turang cant even make contact with a straight fastball down the pipe
  21. Turangs swing literally looks like it’s design to get pop ups.
  22. They just love depth so much I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t if he was willing (not retiring).
  23. I’m guessing if it goes to extra innings. Craig will just put someone like Small in for the duration right?
  24. Uribe does throw a 4 seam also. That pitch works high as an occasional different look especially against lefties. When he obviously overthrew most of his sinkers that inning, by my lights Caritini didn’t call for a 4 seamer once. This is why pitchers have that extra pitch to go to it when you can’t find you primary one. I think that inning was a pathetic showing by Victor behind the plate when he should really be trying to help this rookie along.
