  1. Fantastic! Agree with these sentiments. I have to say though, when I’m being honest with myself, I just really don’t think Hall has the gumption, fortitude, and control to be a starter. Even beyond this year. I know his ability to add some length is tantalizing, but at least for the rest of this year he should be tried as a one inning reliever, like last year, where he doesn’t have to think/preserve strength as much and can just let it go. That’s what it looks like to my eyes at least. Of course, mine eyes occasionally lie :)
  2. Man I love those picks for the two pitchers. Feel really good about both of them.
  3. Man how nice is it to receive a full report on a player I am interested in! I appreciate it much! Great stuff as always.
  4. Thank you, this list is admirably done. Also, what are your thoughts on Yadher in this context and also as to how his game has matured?
  5. Very interesting points made. I’ll be ruminating on said points over the next few weeks. Thank you. Also, do you really assess the Crew’s farm system is average or slightly below? They may lack the high-end talent they enjoyed the past couple seasons, although they still have a solid amount of that, but they appear to have one of, if not the deepest systems in baseball. Thoughts?
  6. I know no team is perfect, but for a team like the Rays, how could they have missed this? Usually a change is made to a pitcher’s approach when they are a reclamation project or someone who has failed to live up to their talent level, not a veteran who is acquired midway through a successful season. What were they thinking last year, and why not make the correction once they saw the poor results? Very unlike them. I am even more heartened about the trade after reading this great post!
  7. Here’s what drives me almost mad…..last night for some strange reason, Payamps refused to use a changeup against Cronenwerth even though he’s a left handed hitter. He instead hangs his regressed slider down the middle to lose the game. Today, even though Rea sucks against lefties, his splitter has played well as of late. He REFUSES to throw one against Cronenwerth, instead hangs a breaking ball down the middle to blow the lead. Then the very next pitch, he throws a splitter to a right handed hitter for a double!? Why are they not using proper pitches against the respective handed hitter they’re facing!!!!? Seriously, between these pitchers, William, and the coaching staff, this is unbelievably stupid.
  8. Boy I could hear you wax about (Brewers) pitching all day long! Thanks for the in depth replies!! So appreciated.
  9. Jake, thank you so much. Upon my word, this article was eloquent, nice, and sexy. Can you expound at all on Yoho’s freakish arsenal? What are his other pitches outside fastball/change and whats his velo topping at these days. Lastly, what was it that made the pitching brass decide to turn Smith into a starter mid season? A somewhat strange decision but appearing to work out admirably :) Whats his third pitch after his power fastball/breaking ball combo? Thanks again for all the wonderful stuff.
  10. Wonderful, fantastic read. Since he joined the Brewers, I’ve been fascinated by him constantly out performing his stuff. Thanks for writing such a clear article about it. Now about his size….I know he’s a big sumbidge and weighs a lot and is pretty tall besides, but there is just no way this dude is 6’7. I’d be shocked. My eyes can’t deceive me that much.
  11. Does anybody know if Larry Hisle is still with the crew in his community engagement capacity?
  12. I’ve been thinking about this all season. I think sometimes we Crew fans take for granted his consistency (year over year) because of his somewhat inconsistent performances game to game. He’s a wonderful human being. Proving to be durable as well. When I watched the nice little special the Brewers production team did a few months ago on Freddy and where he comes from, I noted how his mom said something like she prays all the time that he spends his entire career with the Brewers because of how they have treated him and how happy he has been the day he joined the organization. It wasn’t just lip service she was patently sincere.
  13. I presume if they weren’t facing the worst team in the league, he may have gone about it a bit differently.
  14. Paredes has been used a lot and obviously didn’t have his A stuff today. Liked how he still didn’t nibble and just pitched to contact with confidence. I like him. I like him well. This team is so much more fun without Craigory.
  15. Didn’t have the chance to post today while at work, but…..The SANCHIZE!!!!!
  16. Yeah whats intriguing is I think the bullpen will only get better too. I mean obviously Williams, but trading guys like Junis for White, or if they put Hall in the bullpen and just let him go. I mean, look out!
  17. Good article. Just to be clear - Payamps hasn’t really “struggled”. He pitched poorly around his long layoff. But he is firmly entrenched in the Brewers plans this year, and most likely beyond as he is still controllable. It would be shocking to see him let go of mid season. He would most likely have to perform pitifully for over a month straight. I mean, we saw how long of a leash Vieira got…. For some reason a lot of fans seem to underestimate how high the Brewers are on Payamps, and how high they have been on him for several years. They had wanted to acquire him long before they did, and he has pitched admirably ever since.
  18. I agree with those sentiments entirely.
  19. Bauers has proven over his major league career that he’s…..not a major league player. His one strength of first base defense is mitigated with him in the outfield. His strike out rate is unsustainable. Chourio is twenty, 1000 times more talented, and a better outfield defender. He needs to play through ups and downs to get better, not be benched for a replacement level player. Furthermore he was starting to take pitches very well and was raising his batting average in the week before this benching. How Chourio has performed in his first month as the youngest player in the league should not merit a knee jerk reaction to an almost week long benching. He is known for making fantastic and effective adjustments throughout his career. Bauers is…..not known for that.
  20. This Bauers and Dunn fetish has to stop. One thing Counsell always did was interrupt hitters’ rhythms. As soon as someone gets going they sat inexplicably. As stated on this thread, Chourio was starting to put together some really good at-bats, now he mysteriously gets four games off while Frelicks’ at bats look more pathetic by the day, and this soft platoon with Ortiz is downright maddening. Looks like Murph inherited some bad habits from Counsell.
  21. The Sanchize!! Bad send on bad lead/baserunning for Dunn. Tired of him playing over Ortiz.
