  1. I'll see what works best for Nicole. Who's up for a night at my place in Waukesha?
  2. Usually we all roll our eyes and call each other Mauers when leasters happens. I'm not a big fan of leasters, but I insist on its usage.
  3. [ it's been quite obvious in the past that people Brian has banned in the past still frequent his site. While they may no longer post, they still read the articles and the other posts, and then they either cut and paste, or they talk about the posts made here on other sites. Other sites also now provide links to brewerfan as their official source of information. people have more faith in brewerfan than they do in the mil Journal. ] People who can't post messages on the site can't break any of the site's rules. [ yes, Brian does incur the expenses to keep this website afloat. But i'm going to assume brian labels those expenses on his tax forms as Business expenses. As a business, Brian cannot discriminate. I can post. if this were Brian's house, he could refuse me entry. I doubt that he would. but at least he would have that right. ] So removing somebody from a website for breaking the rules = discrimination? I know you're all about the drama, but I figured even you had limits. [ There is nothing wrong with establishishing a decorum and rules for a business. Many restaurants require their patrons to wear a suit and tie. 6 Flags now requires people to wear clothes inside their park rather than just bathing suits(it's actually a written posted rule). brian can post the rules and encourage his patrons to follow them. he can request patrons to sign consent forms. You can't go to the Miller factory and take a tour and just start drinking the beer for free. But there are also rules that apply to Brian. he found that out when brewerfan.com was stolen from him. People can't steal a house. ] What rules apply to me? I got sloppy and let the Brewerfan domain registration expire, and it got squatted. What's the connection? Where are you going with this? I FEEL LIKE I'M TAKING CRAZY PILLS. http://www.star.le.ac.uk/~eh54/mugatu.jpg
  4. He had me at "send Dennis in to get the bread".
  5. How long until someone says he's a "political prisoner"?
  6. I wonder what he would have to do for his constituents to abandon him. Unreal.
  7. [ Are we talking about one-liners or one line posts? There is a difference. I think a good point can be made with a one line post, and I do that myself quite a bit on this site. Some of my favorite posts are only one line because they are generally a very witty and relevant response to the topic at hand. One-liners that have no point and are just trying to zing someone tend to be worthless though. I do agree that those who are just trying to build massive post counts (clearly this is not me http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ) should be discouraged from doing so through one line posts though. ] More along the line of one-liners, you're absolutely right.
  8. So, they're protesting the fact that he was arrested with no knowledge whatsoever of what he was being arrested about and what evidence there is? Beautiful.
  9. [ i'm so sick of so many people wanting to trade for milledge. he has not done anything and everyone thinks he's so great. ] An OPS of .828 in AAA at age 21 isn't bad. What are your benchmarks for a promising prospect?
  10. [ I'd highly recommend new forum software. ] We're currently in the process of writing a sports-oriented forum software from scratch, for use both here and at LambeauLeap.net. I'm planning on building in a lot of tools to help achieve many of my goals for the site when that's complete. [ The brewers.com forum is a democracy, and that's exactly what you don't want. ] In some ways, it's worse than that. You'll often see that entire threads are deleted by moderators with no explanation whatsoever. There's also, in my opinion, an over abundance of "naughty" words that get filtered out, that are pretty innocuous. Although, I'm sure the same would be said by some people here about certain words. Can't make all of the people happy all of the time...
  11. [ So no excuses for Ben tonite.Either he gets a convincing win tonite,or may the jury still be out on his status as a #1 ace. ] I apologize if I sound like a broken record, but what bearing on anything does the status of "ace" have? If fans proclaim Capuano as the "ace", does it change anything on the field?
  12. I play pick partner, but either one's fine by me.
  13. He's 24, so I guess that makes me a little nervous. If he put up these numbers for an entire year, I would say he's back at that level. It's only 114 at-bats, so personally, I'm going to temper my excitement for at least another month or two... but it's very encouraging, nonetheless.
  14. It's a bri-ocracy. http://www.stickergiant.com/Merchant2/imgs/125/hpspm0038_125.gif
  15. I've had to delete on post that referred to politics, specifically a politician who has no bearing on this thread. I would remind people that they need to be extra careful when dealing with threads that are political in nature.
  16. [ This is a public domain access site. And as such, we are not guests into Brian's house, but rather customers he has to deal with. ] This site isn't a democracy. I'm always looking for user feedback to help improve the site. However, when that user feedback conflicts with the vision I have for the site, I'm going to go with my own judgment.
  17. [ The DFE process is designed to take away the gamble. You get to follow the player a full season longer, and then make an informed signing. I don't think they should count as steals because many DFEs aren't players who aren't highly thought of, there just more difficult signs. ] What I meant is that it's a crap shoot as to which DFE is going to crank it up, and which one's going to be a stinker and not worth drafting.
  18. Diet White makes a white grape soda. You can easily find that in grocery stores.... but it's not your classic grape soda taste.
  19. [ As I said, you have to find your niche. ] Our niche has remained constant since day one. We target those who want to talk seriously about baseball, in an environment free of trolls and message board tough guys. I'm not redefining what needs to occur at all. Much of what I've said is in the FAQ, which people either haven't bothered to read, or choose to ignore. The site was born as people wanted to get away from how things were being handled at the ESPN message board. People wanted something a bit different. Those who enjoy being around flame wars and trolling can feel free to be around them in another venue. In short, we just do what we've always done. The site used to be self-policing, but now it's not, due to its growth. I'm not going to bastardize the maturity of the site's content to appeal to a larger audience. If that means people calling us elitists, so be it. I don't have any corporate sponsorship politics to deal with, so I get to call the shots. If the user base doesn't like it and tapers down, it doesn't bother me. We're not Arby's.
  20. I enjoy any of the late 90's teenybopper movies way too much: She's All That 10 Things I Hate About You Drive Me Crazy etc, etc, etc...
  21. [ I mean seriously, I see no difference between the two whatsoever, they both contain really the same thought, one is just longer than the other. ] Like I mentioned above, there are times when one line posts are appropriate, and times when they aren't. Posts like: "no" ...are inappropriate about 99% of the time. The point is, I'd like people to expound on their thoughts. That generates conversation. I echo the sentiment above, though, that it's not necessary to post "I agree", simply because you do... Although, generally, you'll probably have additional information floating around in your noggin that would stimulate further conversation.
  22. Bumping this thread... I didn't think I needed to say this, but using the past tense of a swear word also counts as swearing.
  23. [ Then why is he on the roster? My anger for Mench is blurring reality, sorry. ] I think he's on the roster because: 1) He costs a fair amount of money 2) The Brewers have a surplus of left-handed hitting outfielders I think the Brewers are to the point now where #1 is irrelevant. They should cut bait with him, even if it means eating some, or all, of his money. #2 is a little more dicey. Can the Brewers survive with just Billy Hall is the only right-handed hitting outfielder? Could they perhaps deal off Mench and Gwynn/Nix/Gross for a lefty-killer?
