  2. The kid had a bad start today, everything was up and he gave up 6 in 6. There were several scouts there - some of them waited to talk to him after the game. To his complete surprise, they were happy with the way he threw. They like the repeatable mechanics, the fastball that was consistently 92, and the change he could throw for strikes in any count. He's down tonight because he feels he let his team down, but he's learning that scouts look for a lot more than today's box score.
  3. Here's the story indicating, "At Least 90 Players"...notice they still show Braun's picture. http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2013/3/20/4128300/biogenesis-ped-scandal-steroids-mlb MLB shouldn't look the other way, but they shouldn't make fools of themselves either.
  4. It depends on the pitcher, but I would absolutely trade Davis for an arm. I think Davis is a much better prospect than any list maker will ever say he is, but he's also blocked in Milwaukee, and the team has other needs. Davis doesn't have a position with the Brewers, and because of that, he won't get enough ABs to truly establish his value at the Major League level. If the Brewers could get a viable prospect at third base, or perhaps a pitcher who becomes a good, dependable bullpen arm for the next few years...why not?
  5. I think this is really funny. Mr Boras is great at what he does, but there is ZERO question, his success has had a negative impact on the game for years. How many high-profile prospects were not drafted, or not signed by the team who otherwise would have had them, if not for Boras' financial demands? Again, he gets people paid, he's doing his job, but if you're talking about what it does to the game, it's basically the same thing, from the other direction. Then, he controlled where talent went, which is not the intent of the system, and now he doesn't like it because something besides him is driving the market.
  6. Angels DFA Bill Hall today...his tour of MLB franchises continues, who's next?

  8. This Tweet from T.J. Quinn of ESPN... MLB to file suit v Tony Bosch & Biogenesis for interference. Know they can't recover $, but want to subpoena docs. NYT posted first. Salut.
  9. "Sources", (my, but they've been busy) believe Bosch destroyed all remaining PED-related documents from his clinic.
  10. MLB is saying they're investigating all of the players in the Biogenesis files equally, which is as it should be. If Braun did it, and they can PROVE it, I have no problem with a suspension. I think this thing has been badly mishandled, I don't think MLB should have fired the arbitrator, and I don't think they should have released the harsh statement when Braun won his appeal. They were within their right in both cases, etc, I just disagree with both decisions. I don't see a hero in this story, the only question is, who looks bad, and who looks worse?
  11. Why do I think this is going to end up in court?
  12. Both of those articles are saying what I said in mine...this is a mess, and it has been at every step along the way. The longer they drag this out, the worse the whole thing gets, and if they head where this may be heading, they're going to start a fresh war between owners and players, while taking all credibility away from their own drug testing program. They have a process in place, and it was followed...the player won the appeal. MLB fired the arbitrator, and now they're turning their own program on its head to get one or two guys...it's like the kid who flips the checkerboard over because he's about to lose. I'm embarrassed for everyone involved in this disaster.
  13. Buster Olney says MLB is offereing concessions to the players to get a Worldwide Draft, including such things as an increase in the minimum salary, and less service time before arbitration.

  15. The devil is in the details, but I hope they get this worked out, it's long overdue.
  16. If you use Twitter, I've been having an exchage with Will Carroll...https://twitter.com/injuryexpert

  19. I've never, ever seen Boras allow a player to do this, when he was this close to free agency. I'd say it's a risk for the Brewers to give this player 4 years right now, but it's also a cheap way to fill CF for a while, compared to what guys have been getting. I honestly don't know if I like the move or not.

  21. Almost all of our neighbors from my childhood are gone now, I just learned of another death...a really sweet lady who always had a smile for me. It comes with living...but I hate it.
  22. Here's another one, in Brainerd, MN. http://lakesjam.com/
  23. Thank you all for the compliments. That whole story is just crazy...wrong place, wrong time. The man who shot him died of natural causes in 2010.
  24. I'm 45, I remember this well. For those of you who don't, Lyman was a great young ballplayer, and FWIW, he nearly signed with the Brewers prior to the 1978 season. Larry Hisle was Lyman's best friend, and when he chose Milwaukee, he tried to convince Bostock to join him here. This whole thing was just crazy...and it still is. http://www.baseballintheblood.com/?p=809
