  1. True. I also remember people bringing this up when he was first signed by the Brewers.
  2. If you look at Suppans numbers the previous 4 years with Boston and StL, they were not that bad. His whip was always on the high side and maybe that should have been a warning, but his ERA was respectable. He's giving up way more hits than he use to. Was old Busch Stadium that much of a pitchers park? It appears that Suppan's home stats are actually better than his away stats. If he could return to his StL form, it would be helpful for the Brewers.
  3. There was an artical in the paper about a year or so ago that showed that the majority (more than 90%) of freeway speeding tickets in the Milwaukee area were given to drivers exceeding 12 mph over the speed limit.
  4. We don't know for sure that they didn't. Just because there were no public rumors doesn't mean that he didn't tryExactly, Same with Johnson, Smoltz, or anyone else the Brewers did not get. Just because they didn't get anyone, doesn't mean they didn't try. There are 30 MLB teams and not nearly that many FA pitchers that could come in and automatically be a top of the rotation guy. It's not like the Brewers can just pick up who ever they want.
  5. It's all part of a master plan by the Govt. to make sure that no one speeds. Also, if you do get it working again, please don't set it at 73. That's where I set mine and I hate it when people merge onto the freeway and have their cruise set at the same speed as me. Then eventually, I just have to speed up and get in front, so that we are not riding side by side clogging up both lanes. Set it at 72 or 74 from now, so that you and I can avoid this possibly akward situation in the future...ok?....Thanks.
  6. I tend to agree with you. Not becaue I'm a huge Brewer fan and I hate the Cubs (I actually don't hate the Cubs), but because I look at it the same way you do. Yesterday on XM, Rob Dibble stated he sees the cubs winning 95-100 games and that no one else in the Central will be close to them. I don't see that and I don't see the Cubs being that much better. The biggest thing for them will be having Harden the entire year, if he can stay healthy. I know that his innings will be limited. I think Lilly is a bit over rated and I doubt Dempster will put up numbers similar to last year.
  7. This year, after 25 years of using Avg as a category, we are dropping it in favor of OBP. How crazy would it if you just used OPS? That would be interesting. But just using OBP and not AVG is pretty crazy as well. Why is it crazy to use OBP and not AVG? OBP seems to be a better indication of a players ability to generate runs than AVG does.
  8. I wouldn't mind seeing them take a flyer on Jennings for less than $1M. If he's fully recovered, like he states he is, I think he could produce better numbers than those projections.
  9. Do they ever do a player option as an incentive? For example, if Ben gets 200IP in 2009, then the player option kicks in for 2010. Or maybe an escalating player option. $8mil if he gets 125IP, $10mil if he gets 150IP...etc. Possibly becomes a mutual option if he finishes 2009 on the DL or requires surgery in the off season?
  10. I don't think he's going to get it -- there or anywhere -- but stranger things have happened, I suppose. Does the fact that he's even asking for this kind of deal suggest that he knows that his arm is ok? I was thinking just the opposite. He has concerns about his arm and wants the security of a 3 year contract in case he suffers more injuries.
  11. Yeah, Joe Niekro use to do this all the time.
  12. It's actually probably that I'm such a wimp when it comes to cold weather that I'm jeolous of people who don't seem affected at all by it.
  13. Yes, this really bothers me as well. It gets to be 20 degrees and I see all sorts of people walking around downtown without coats (other than maybe a suit jacket.). Do some men really need to display their machoism to the point of being completely uncomfortable. I don't care how much of a man you are, there is no way that you are not uncomfortably cold at 20 degrees and not wearing a jacket. What, are you going to be uncomfortably warm if you throw on a jacket in below freezing temperatures? Also, I will never understand this wearing a winter hat inside fashion statement. People do this all year round. Even if I'm outside in the cold wearing a winter hat, I sometimes find it itchy and warm. It can not be comfortable at all wearing it indoors and I'm trying to figure out how it's considered a "good look".
  14. Yeah, I'm not really surprised at all about the Uecker comments. I grew up enjoying listening to him call games and I'll be sad when it's time for him to hang it up. However, I always viewed him as having quite a big ego. My dad can't stand him. My dad's a retired Milwaukee school teacher. During the summer he would take odd jobs. One thing he did was manage and sell apartment units. One time Ueker came in with a couple of other friends to look at the model apartment. He sat on the couch and put his feet up and really treated my Dad like a peon.

  16. Born in March. I love summer. The hotter the better. I don't like temperatures below 60. Of course, I absolutely detest Winter.
  17. Kalle, I understand you are from Italy and I may have lost something in the translation. Are you for or against Americans being placed on the Italian roster?
  18. I was really surprised at the arby offer the Brewers made. I don't think Boras would be doing any negotiating with the Brewers unless it involved a multi-year deal. To me, it's a no-brainer that Fielder would win his arby case and get $8mil. I see this as the Brewers looking at the crazy arby numbers the Phillies and Howard are throwing around and possibly trying to solidify relationships with Fielder and Boras in hopes that the can rein him in for a longer term contract after this 2 year deal expires (assuming a 2 year deal happens).
  19. I'm waiting for them to develop a phone that can create a text message from speaking into the phone (for all I know this might already exist). Then, maybe, I might start texting slightly more. But just slightly.
  20. I use to consider myself pretty up on current technology, but I am comming to realize that it is rapidly passing me by. I'll never understand how texting became so popular. Once in a while someone will text me something. Then I spend the next 15 minutes typing out an 8 word response. I agree with what I heard some comedian say once in regards to the irony of texting..something like "Hello! It's a phone!"
  21. My wife and I finally got a chance to catch up on all the episodes we DVRed. This is only the second year we watched. So, we are not familiar with the history that Jack has with...I forget his name...but the guy he's "teaming up" with now. Aslo, neither of us can stand Chloe and we were dissapointed when she popped up again. She may possibly be the worst actor I have ever seen. Although, I always kind of liked her on "The Gary Shandling Show"...but she's not right for this show. I'm not a big fan of Garafalo outside of movies she's been in (I don't usually mind her acting). However, she starting to irritate me too. She's almost like a Chloe clone. So far I'm liking it more than last year. Although I'm always going to have trouble with the whole "real time" concept. Some of it just doesn't make sense. They travel way too fast from place to place. I know it's a bit nitpicky, but one of the main premises of the show is that it takes place in real time. That's why it's called 24.
  22. The difference is that Manny, Pujols, and Ortiz were all born in the Dominican Repulic. I have no problem with a US citizen player who also happens to have been born and/or is a citizen of another country playing for that country. However, for a guy to play for Italy or the Netherlands or wherever just purely based on his grandparents having ties to that country is a bit of a stretch if you ask me. Yeah, but then if all those guys basically had to play for the US, the US team would probably win handily, and the same people would complain that the thing is a pointless joke because of lack of competition. Can't have it both ways. I'd rather see the US and other countries that actually have baseball talent have multiple teams (maybe an east and west team - kinda like they do in Little League). This would be better than forcing some sort of fake team from Italy or Germany or wherever.
