  1. In the city of Milwaukee I believe it's pretty much Pierce St. However, it seems to shift within the county. For example around West Allis/Wauwatosa by State Fair, it's just about a block north of the freeway.
  2. Usually when there are double beds, there are two of them. Is there someone else (kids maybe?) in the other bed? My wife and I actually try to get rooms with double beds when we are staying somewhere so we each have our own space (we have been married for 24 years, neither of us feel that we really need to sleep in the same bed all the time, ) ....although, neither of us are anywhere near 6'2" either.
  3. So you live on state property? I only ask because of your comment stating that you don't really care about the look of your lawn. Depending on how close your neighbors are, type of neighborhood, etc., they may care. It's a property value thing.
  4. While I would not mind if the Brewers made a FA acquisition to shore up their pitching this off-season, it might be wise to wait a year since next years FA pool promises to be fairly deep.
  5. I believe their magic number over the Cards is 4, not 6. Also, per your examples, the Brewers magic number over the Rockies is 8 (7 to tie).
  6. Based on the pitchers they will face, it seems that way. The pitcher tonight is interesting. 11th Overall pick in 2010 draft and making his MLB debut at age 28. Looking at his Milb stats it does not appear that he had a lot of injuries, he just never put together a decent season until this year. Spent most of 2016 at AAA (and did not pitch great there) and then was demoted to AA this year and is now making a jump to MLB.
  7. Rockies only have 5 games left. So, they would need to go no better than 3-2 in the scenario you described.
  8. Yeah, it was around posts 150-181 in this same topic. Five groups? Really?! That's annoying. May I ask what course you were on?
  9. I'm right there with you Fido! I was a Junior in HS at the time and was fortunate enough to attend the playoff and WS games that year. My friends and I walked down to Dunkin Donuts on Hwy 100 in West Allis after game 7 and drowned our sorrows in a box of donuts.
  10. My wife and I checked out our potential exposure and signed up for the free "Premier ID" service that Equifax is offering because of the hack that they experienced. Thankfully, we both got feedback that it appeared our information was not exposed during the hack. Anyways, we signed up for the Premier ID. It told us to come back on a certain date to complete the registration. We did that about a week ago. It told us it would email us credentials, but also said to be patient as there is a lot of people signing up for this service. We still have not received the email. Someone I work with also said they never got the email. Anyone here go through this process? If so, did you ever get an email with your Premier ID credentials?
  11. .500? About 6 months ago some of the "experts" were predicting a near 100 loss season
  12. Was the play at second close? Watching on game day Not close. C'mon...it took a perfect throw to get him. In hindsight, sure, seemed like a bad move. But, late in the game. Berry has been thrown out once in what?...like 32 tries. Hard to really fault Counsell for that one...other than maybe possibly waiting another pitch (after the mound visit). Thames!!!!
  13. Have not been to a ton of other stadiums. However, we were at Petco last March for the WBC. We sat in the bleachers and found it to be a bit of a Maze to navigate and get to our seats. As others have mentioned, the Gaslamp quarter is great. However, our GPS had us get off the freeway east of the stadium and go down Imperial Ave. This is basically homelessville. Both sides of the street, wall to wall tents, boxes, shopping carts, litter everywhere, people waking in the middle of the street. This was in very close proximity to the stadium (just a few blocks east).
  14. My son played summer HS baseball (he graduated in 2016). So, he had a lot more conflicts with not being able to make it to Brewer games. We had to exchange and sell several games from our 20 game package. His coach (and most HS coaches that I'm aware of) and teammates would have not been to keen on him missing a HS game to take in a MLB game, and I completely get it. There are many MLB games to choose from, there are only a finite amount of HS games. Also, my son, who is a huge Brewer fan (watches many games on his laptop in college) would have never wanted to miss one of his HS games for a Brewer game. On a side note, my son was an assistant coach for JV at his HS this past summer. He is getting wind that next year will most likely be the last year of summer HS baseball in WI. There have been lots of rumors about this over the years, but this one seems to be on pretty good footing. It's disappointing for my son since he will not be able to do coaching for Spring baseball (as he will be away at college), but at the same time he may be busy with an internship at that point anyways.
  15. Yes. It is hard 99% of the time to be a fan of that franchise. Sometimes I wish we were like the Browns - never even a glimmer of hope. The constant looking like things are going our way before the crashing and burning is worse. Ok? - Most national publications had the Brewers finishing 4th or 5th in the division - I believe there were 44 predictions made by Brewer Fans on the 2017 prediction site and if my math is correct the average win prediction was 74 (2 more than where they currently are at on September 8th). I believe only 5 people had them above .500 with the highest being a very optimistic 86. Again, keep in mind these are Brewer Fans. - The Brewers did not go out and make any major acquisitions at the trade deadline (and most posters on this site did not want them to). The Cubs, on the other hand, did. - A lot of the Brewers being in contention all year had to do with the fact that the Cubs were playing far below expectations. The wild card hopes have only come in the last 3 weeks or so as the Rockies have struggled a bit. To me, whatever "glimmer of hope" the Brewers provided this year was unexpected to begin with, so if they don't reach the playoffs, I'm ok with that. I know this is a "What's bugging you thread" and I know the Brewers historical track record is not great. However, as stated in most financial disclosures, past performance is not an indicator of future results.
  16. Thanks for all the tips everyone. Very helpful!
  17. About a month ago, my wife and I went to Foolery's on Okauchee Lake and every TV was on soccer (which, sorry, I despise) even though there was a Brewer game going on. I actually think there was 1 TV on baseball (out of about 10 TVs), and it was not the Brewer game. So, not sure if it's a soccer bar, but that night it sure seemed like it was. The funny thing is that Jim Griffin was eating there while we were there and, if you watch any Brewer games, you know he can be seen during just about every commercial break during a game.
  18. I have never opened a Facebook, Twitter, or any other of the normal social media accounts other than Linked In (if that is considered social media). I do occasionally look at other people's twitter accounts (most of those appear to be public and do not require you to be on twitter to view). I didn't originally make the choice to not do social media because of wanting to stay out of political views, I just did it because I really could not think of anything that I would want to post on Facebook. While it would be nice to keep up with what friends and family are doing it also just seemed like a constant version of one of those "this is what happened to me and my family this year" Christmas cards. Never was a big fan of those. My wife is on Facebook and will occasionally tell me about a family member or friend posting something political and sometimes I have to stop her because I really don't want to know. She agrees and she never posts a political comment and does not respond to any political comments posted. A parent of a kid that my son went to school with once posted that parents who both choose to work (especially the mom) were selfish. Seriously?!? You are going to post that to a general audience that you know includes parents who both work (many who you at least pretend to be friendly with)? My wife had to do everything in her power not to respond. I could never exercise that type of restraint.
  19. Wife and I are taking a little vacation in Colorado Springs in mid-September and looking for some hints regarding restaurants, bars, and site seeing. We are already planning the obvious stuff like Garden of the Gods, Pike's Peak, etc. We will have a rental car and don't mind driving a few hours to see something that is worth seeing. I see that you can actually drive up to the top of Pike's Peak, but it seems like if the weather is not great and you don't have 4 wheel drive it could be a challenge and slightly dangerous. Even with good weather, checking out the route on street view on Google Maps seems a bit terrifying. I would probably be ok, not sure the better half would handle it too well. So we will probably take the train/rail-car up to the peak. While we don't mind getting some walks in, we are not big hikers, climbers, or into back-packing type stuff. More just looking to site-see. We are renting a house a few blocks north of the Old Colorado city area in Co. Springs (so any good bars/restaurants in that area on or near Pike's Peak or Colorado Avenues would be ideal). We are not big beer drinkers so not too much into brew pubs unless they also serve cocktails (most do I guess). Thanks for any advice!
  20. So, was at the game last night and after the National Anthem, Arcia stood in the same position with his hat on his heart for an additional 2-3 minutes (maybe it just seemed that long...maybe it was only a minute). Other Brewers just continued to do sprints and stretches and didn't pay any attention to him doing this. Then we noticed that there were about 4 or 5 Reds players doing the same thing in front of the Reds dugout (standing there, looking at the flag, with their hat rested on their chest as if the anthem was still playing). Then we noticed Arcia and those Reds players gesturing back and forth across the diamond at each other. Anyone else see this or know what this was about? Don't know if it was some inside joke between the players or "contest" to see who would stand there the longest before finally getting ready for the game or if they were attempting to make a statement of some sort.
  21. It's a Prince theme. He's from Minneapolis.
  22. Just stay in AZ and I'll be happy. Florida is an armpit.
  23. I was going to post relatively the same thing. I think it even states in the article that people get mad at him. I don't get it. The guys living his life the way he wants to live it and not hurting anyone else. Good for him. Not true and not sure who you were looking at. I was at Tuesday night's game and he was in our view. He was wearing a shirt that was blue on top and white on the bottom (or vice-versa?). I see this guy a lot at games and I have never seen him wear any type of Brewer apparel. I think maybe you are referring to the "Door man"? If so, I'm pretty sure he posts on this site on occasion and from what I can tell he seems like a nice guy.
  24. Just read that as I was eating lunch. I always knew about this guy and his seat location and that he never missed a game, but I didn't know any of the details. Fascinating article and person. He has principles and he sticks to them. I admire that. Does anyone know if he ever posts on this board?
  25. This again? So, in your opinion, you can't possibly be a true Brewer fan if you sell your tickets on the open market and a Cub fan happens to buy them? I'm so tired of these judgments. You must be filthy rich (or completely financially irresponsible - as long as we are throwing around judgement of people) if you would be willing to forfeit $100 plus per ticket just so that there is no chance a Cub fan will get your seats. Also, MLB teams do not care at all if you sell your tickets on the secondary market. All MLB season tickets holders are given a direct link within their season ticket holder account to sell tickets directly on Stub Hub. The fan purchasing the tickets can print them off directly from Stub Hub.
