  1. Gonna go though bottles of Mylanta with any more games like tonight’s. Playoff chase baseball at its stressful stages.
  2. Just can’t seem to get the big hit with the RISP. No complaints about a bases-loaded walk, sacrifice fly, or run-scoring fielder’s choice. But just missing that bases-clearing hit tonight.
  3. Innings like this just confirm my thought of wanting nothing to do with the Cardinals in any playoff scenario.
  4. Good patience by Shaw. Didn’t try to play the hero and swing at junk out of the zone. Still need the big hit....or a bases-clearing wild pitch like on Sunday.
  5. Pirates have two team options in 2019 and 2020, but they will likely exercise their $1 million buyout instead of paying Harrison the $10.5 million option next year.
  6. The NFL has just about figured out how to ruin the game of football. Seemingly endless replays and the targeting calls make college football a bit hard to watch, but I’ll watch NCAA football countless times more than NFL, even mid-major games. Unless the Packers are playing, I’ve basically stopped watching NFL football. Now even doing that is becoming less frequent.
  7. Got to the Pirates bullpen. Time for the offense to push across some runs.
  8. If the talks included some guarantee--official or not--of being an affiliate in San Antonio when a new ballpark is built, then it's probably a good move. The lingering pessimism is that the Rangers would swoop in after a new ballpark is built and have an extended affiliation with the franchise, and the Brewers would end up enduring outdated AAA facilities again with no future benefit. I also wonder if this two-year affiliation with San Antonio is meant to keep open the possibility of affiliating with Wichita once the reported move of the New Orleans franchise happens. New facilities in a Midwestern setting would be worth a long-term partnership with Wichita.
  9. 5-10 versus Pittsburgh so far this year. If failure to win the division would need to be summed up in one statistic at the end of the season, that would be a good one to choose.
  10. Put the bat on the ball; drive home the run. Big by Aguilar not to squander the situation. Could really use the two-out hit from Shaw, though.
  11. Almost no words for that type of comeback. But an acronym is still fitting: TBSS.
  12. You are going to get on the guy that hit a 2 run bomb a couple innings ago? Not MrTPlush answering: I wouldn’t seriously get on Granderson, but the first AB with two runners on by Thames seems to fit the definition of clutchless.
  13. Some good at bats in that inning. But the three outs were three of the worst that you’ll see in run-producing situations.
  14. Time to get back in this one. Get some good at bats to manufacture runs like last night. Don’t need everyone trying to hit grand slams with the bases empty.
