    Perkins is on the bubble. They needed to upgrade the offensive production from CF. JW was not what I thought they should do, but that’s what we got. That, and hoping Lockridge isn’t just a spring training hero.

    Pratt breaking up the perfect game with a clutch walk in the bottom of the ninth. And Burke ending the no hitter. Saving something out of this wretched display. Nice to see somebody have some spunk today.

    I recall reading or hearing about that as well. Not sure how legit the info source was. Felt like kind of a boilerplate comment as in "when a guy doesn't cut it in the IF, you can always at least try to convert him to OF".

    I forgot they still had that long of control on him. That changes the dynamic of this fantasy exercise.

    Definitely intriguing. I suppose most fans of any team feel the same regardless of how high their pool of prospects rank.

    Obviously, all these guys won't cut it at the top level. Some may get traded. They are currently so well stocked though, I got to trying to fit them all in as if they somehow all DID cut it. Unless the new CBA changes considerably, I don't think they can extend Turang or Contreras. Thus, I focused solely on the prospects for 2028 (and beyond). I got as the starters, and I tried to keep them at their current listed positions. 1B / Burke 2B / Made SS / Pratt 3B/ Fischer Wilken slots in at DH Adams backs up 1B Pena, William backup utility

    Suspend reality, Pretend its 2028. Assume the near future infield is made up of only MIL's current hot prospects that everybody is excited about. What is your alignment using the current top farmers? Mix and match positions as you see fit. Add other prospects if you wish like Adamczewski, Boeve, Ebed etc. 1B / Adams, Burke, Bitonti 2B / Made, Pena, Williams SS / Pratt, Made, Pena, Williams 3B / Wilken, Fischer, Adams, Pena

    He's checks off a lot of boxes no doubt, but I'm not sold yet on his future at SS. I wouldn't be surprised if he replaces Turang at 2B in the future rather than Ortiz. (Unless the new CBA dramatically changes the ability of small market teams to retain their stars, Turang won't be extended.)

    Exactly. Everybody assumes young guys will agree to an early, long term, cheap deal like Chourio did. Not necessarily. Also, everybody assumes that every shiny prospect who signs these types of deals will pan out and pay off BIG. Chourio set the precedent for MIL interests. Others who come after might be thinking "he shorted himself out of several hundred million dollars". Bird in hand versus two in the bush... each guy approaches that differently.

    MIL desperately needs at least one of these two to develop into an above average power bat capable of 100+ ribbies and 30+ dingers. Feels like Wilken might get squeezed out in favor of Fischer. Adams has to contend with Burke, and maybe Bitonti in the near future after Vaughn is gone. Boeve is in the mix somewhere too. It's great to have some competition for power.

    So many intriguing prospects. We know not all of them will pan out. Pratt needs a solid year at the plate, or he might be one that lingers in the minors or becomes trade bait. Hope not.

    Woodruff and now Priester with a setback. Really wonder how much bang for the big bucks they're going to get out of Woody.

    I like the ABS. It might have an unintended consequence though with an influence on the umpire's ego or psyche. Recently Wilyer Abreu challenged a full count strike 3 call and immediately started taking off his armor and walking to first before the ABS call was announced. He was right to challenge, it was ball 4. But showing up the ump like that could easily come back to bite in a future at bat when the team is out of challenges. The only thing I don't like about ABS is that the data over analyzers have probably already dreamt up some new measurement like ABSWar.

    They are going to find a way to get that cheap, home grown power in the MLB lineup eventually. Might not be this year, but probably after the lockout dust has settled. They damn well better be patient in nurturing his development and not trade him. He's a potential high K, but high HR type guy. Brewers have to stop being so allergic to that component type in a lineup.

    You don’t get to October without a top of the rotation arm pitching like an ace for most of the season. Ease him along for too long, and there might not be playoffs for him to pitch in. I don’t like it, but have to trust the organization on this one. Really wonder who would be the ace had Woody rejected the QO. They were set on trading Peralta regardless.

    Just watched the White Sox game. All the guys seem to have huge thighs. In particular, Black, Made and Lara seem bigger, thicker than I recall. Wonder if it's a TV production mirage thing.

    Maybe It’s just due to having Brewers ball to watch, but it’s not as bad as I first thought. Still think a darker contrast top is a more natural color scheme combination.

    I'd love to go back 40+ years and give that a try LOL. Actually, I did OK at the plate too. I said glove first, not "only glove"...

    As a former glove first SS, I very much appreciate what he brings to the team and am rooting for him. If he can get the bat back into the .240 range, that's good enough for me.

    I'm get paid to do what I do, not to nerd out scouring rosters to find workable upgrades. There are always guys that could be traded for. Sometimes the price might be high, but not necessarily not contract wise. It might just cost you prospect capital. If you don't have the cash but you have prospect capital, it's reasonable to spend it in the right circumstances. Since you seem to troll my posts, you already should know who I thought was a good match. No, it wasn't Castellanos.

    C. Didn't totally gut the team, but didn't noticeably upgrade with MLB proven talent either. Banking on future potential development as always, maintaining status quo. But maybe a few things will hit more immediately. Really needed an offensive upgrade at either SS or CF. Not many SS options and I was fine with Ortiz anyway. Should have added a real proven bat to the OF. Grade F on that.

    MLB INC won't be satisfied until they have stripped small markets from any possible path to a WS Championship. The only way things change is if enough fans would walk away and starve the beast financially. But that will never happen and the monied men of MLB know it. Between a TV viewing package and attending 2 games with my family, I contributed at least $500 to this insulting nonsense last year. Not sure that I can justify spending that much again unless the competitive / financial balance gets fixed.

    It's also all the risks that were taken in other enterprises to build up the capital prior to buying the franchise. To be balanced, I'm also not a huge fan of ownerships that extort tax bases to subsidize their ballparks.
