  1. I guess it's good we took the coaches from Cincinnati and NC so we can poach from 2 programs to help beef up a poor recruiting class.
  2. I'd prefer to give it a go and blow it up if things don't look great at the deadline.
  3. Maybe we "splurge" on Vazquez. Definitely the most glaring need on the team and it only costs money.
  4. Yeah a trade is probably what we should do. I am a believer in Quero but he is probably 2 years away so a stop gap of at least 2 seasons would be nice. The Braves have 3 catchers, maybe we can swing a deal for one of them.
  5. Taillon to Cubs, 4 years and 68 million.
  6. While I agree that we need some help against LHP, it would not be wise to spend a lot to do it. I like Drury in theory but not if we spend all of the money we are planning to spend this offseason on him. I would rather upgrade at catcher as I would prefer VC to be the backup and I don't believe Felicano is ready/good enough.
  7. Extremely likely the Packers have checked in with JL again and him staying on through the bowl would be a hopeful sign.
  8. The first contracts signed are usually terrible and this off-season has been no different.
  9. His OBP is good because he hits for a high average, not that he walks a lot. To give up top end talent, I'd prefer OBP and Slugging or at the very least potential for Slugging to go up. I think Arraez is what he is right now. A good player but not elite.
  10. This screams of the Twins selling high on Arraez. I would not give up any of our top end talent for him.
  11. It's like the NFL but free agency every year! Yay?
  12. If Jansen's power is real, he is valuable.
  13. That's gold glove candidate (somehow) Christian Yelich.
  14. Wow I am really surprised JL is staying. I am hoping he is getting a nice raise for his loyalty.
  15. I'm going to have to trust talent evaluators but that dude does not look like much of an athlete.
  16. Yes, catcher is definitely a question mark yet. I wonder if they could turn one of their outfield prospects into a catcher? Not a huge Caratini fan but it would be nice to have someone younger to pair with him. Also, you don't think Keston will be on the team?
  17. Winker replaces Renfroe as the team dbag. I like this trade as we get a little younger and added some depth. Winker is a bounceback candidate.
  18. Khris coming back on Friday and Joe is expected by Christmas. The Bucks fly under the radar, even by their own fans apparently.
  19. Power Plays would make soccer more interesting.
  20. I don't really see a reason why we can't have all our players at least be Premier League quality
  21. I am a very casual soccer fan (World Cup is about it). Why does the US not have any hispanic/latin players? This seems like a complete failure by those in charge.
  22. Fickell needs to keep the studs in state and get some skilled position studs from the warm climate areas. You do that, you can win the Big Ten West (which isn't a super high expectation)
  23. Yes I did. It's a little annoying that it takes 5 days to get into your account but I've now deposited twice. $42 earned so far which is more than I earned in my regular savings all year.
  24. First of all, it's clear that the trade has nothing to do with Hunter Renfroe to some of you. He is on his fifth team in five years and was going to make 11 million dollars. He is pretty much an average player that we can not afford to invest around 8-10% of our payroll on. The strength of our minors is outfielders and they are in AAA. Not to mention it's still November but the same people freak out every year so this shouldn't be surprising. It's more about the payroll being less in 2023 which should not be a shock to anyone. Attendance was way down in 2022 and that affects the Brewers payroll probably more than any other team in MLB. Also, our TV contract is not competitive with other teams. This should be a shared revenue and this was not addressed in the last CBA. I have to assume Wong will be gone and then we will pickup some cheap vet to play 3B or 2B while we ease Turang in the at the major league level. Are we going to be relying on rookies too much in 2023? Very likely yes but we don't have much of a choice. Fans didn't show up in 2022 and that's part of the reason why.
