  1. We seem to like the older left handed pitcher on one year deals (Gonzalez, Anderson, Hill). They have seemed to work out pretty well so far.
  2. That is making the rather big assumption, though, that Turner is agreeable to a deal with the Brewers, and his agent isn't simply using the Brewers' supposed interest in an effort to squeeze an extra couple million out of the Dodgers. For how great the Dodgers lineup is, they still have a question mark at 3B, and if they don't make a move on a guy like Ramirez or Kris Bryant, re-upping with Turner makes a lot of sense for them. Let's just toss adding Wong improves Milw and maybe was something that was needed to entice Turner to Milw seeing the team more competitive. Not a fan of trading assets for J Ram when signing Turner for equal amount of money solves the problem. I could get behind Turner for 2 years but I think he will want 3+. I also am worried about him declining because of age.
  3. Would love it but I think the Mets value McNeil super high. I would do Hader, Hiura, and they could pick 2 of any our prospects for Smith and McNeil. The trade value site (I know, I'm a skeptic too) says Hader/Hiura/Turang is almost equal value to Smith/McNeil, and I'd do that trade today. Solidifies both corners and fixes the offense. Without a doubt I would do that trade. Smith is a little bit of an unknown but McNeil would be our Cirillo for many years.
  4. Would love it but I think the Mets value McNeil super high. I would do Hader, Hiura, and they could pick 2 of any our prospects for Smith and McNeil.
  5. An area of strength? Devin Williams and who?? It is a weak pen without Hader. If Hader was able to be used to get solid prospects we probably would have already done that ourselves. And if Josh Hader is too expensive for us to keep, we had better forget about Ramirez because we're not affording much of anyone to put around him. If we can afford 18M over the next 2 years for Kolton Wong we can certainly afford 15M or so over the same period for Josh Hader. Peralta, Suter, Williams, Rasmussen, Yardley is a decent pen even without Hader. We don't have anyone near the level of Ramirez that can play 3rd. We have some decent replacements to take over for Josh. It's pretty simple.
  6. A guy like Hiura (as well as potential prospects) match up much better with Cleveland's next competitive window. They are, at best, the 3rd best team in their division as it stands.
  7. Hader is getting used to get prospects for the Indians, makes perfect sense. The bullpen is an area of strength we can afford to deal from. Although we have years of control for Josh, he will very soon be too expensive for us.
  8. This signing reminds me of when we signed Cain. Offensive numbers aren't super impressive but lots of value on the defensive end.
  9. But WAR doesn't matter.
  10. If that would get him, I would make that trade immediately.
  11. Even then, wouldn't you have to be really certain that the Coors issues aren't legit? I guess it all comes down to what kind of contract he is looking for. If he wants to get paid for his Coors' numbers, then he isn't even worth Hiura.
  12. Only way I would do that trade is if you extended Story immediately.
  13. I mentioned it in the other thread but I would do a 3 team trade with Hader going for prospects, Hiura to Cleveland and Ramirez plus the prospects we got for Hader going to Cleveland. Ramirez would make our lineup much better and fills a need (with no prospect knocking on the door) for 3 important seasons.
  14. 3 way trade. Hader to NYM (or another team but for young guys) for prospects that go to Cleveland, Ramirez to Milwaukee, Hiura to Cleveland Sign Cron Sign Walker or Rich Hill
  15. He signed for much more than I was expecting, not that it means it's a bad move.
  16. A Wong/Robertson (even Urias) 2B platoon would be very good defensively.
  17. 1.3 WAR last season isn't bad.
  18. The thing is this... there are lots of guys still out there unsigned. If they plan on playing MLB this season, they will have to sign pretty soon. The Brewers have 2 spots mostly wide open right now on a team that is a playoff contender. I think we will see our beloved 1 year with an option contract at least with one player that will be a starter.
  19. It's a longshot flyer. Absolutely no one is expecting him to be #3 in the 2021 rotation. I know just sick of these minor league deals and yes I know they need to made for depth reasons but come on Stearns, WE HAVE GLARING HOLES AT 3B AND 1B!! We know.... we know...
  20. You mean most of the same people freaking out now?
  21. Signing Turner will guarantee us the division! Doing nothing will guarantee we won't win the division... We aren't in the NL West, we could do nothing and still win the division. No team in the NL Central has done that much to separate themselves.
  22. Signing Turner will guarantee us the division!
  23. I honestly don't feel they play hard enough on defense (minus Jrue). Gosh, I sound like Jason Kidd.
  24. Getting off Twitter would save many meltdowns from some of you...
  25. Personally, I would rather have Hader AND Williams be firemen in the pen and not have a true closer. It makes sense financially since saves get you paid as well.
