It is likely that Grandal was not getting the huge numbers he wanted because of the QO. Now he can go back into free agency next offseason without that being attached to him. I am happy at the edition but would have preferred at least a 2 year deal.
I am guessing we have a lot of contract offers out there. Just like the reliever yesterday, you tell these guys that the first one to take it gets it. With how the offseason has gone, this is a pretty good strategy.
You'd have to assume we will get either Bumgarner or Gray at this point. I honestly think Ray is probably worth more than Bumgarner (his increasing FIP scares me) but wouldn't be upset if they move him. Ray, Erceg and Houser for Bumgarner and Smith.
I would prefer Dozier over Moose. It is much more likely that Dozier would accept a one year deal and I want Shaw back at 3B. He was projected to get one year and 10 million but I wouldn't go over 6 for him. Stearns definitely is waiting out the market which I am ok with... assuming we pickup more than a 2B.
4 years and 60 million sounds like a pretty good contract for a catcher like Grandal. I am surprised he didn't go with it. How much more does he expect to get?
Was it just my perception that the line did not block pass attempts well at all? It didn't seem like Coan had a lot of time back there. Coan throws a nice ball but either give him some protection or roll him out to utilize his athletic ability.
Thon is a PF trapped in a SF's body. He tries really hard and seems like he cares so fans tend to like him. He also has the worst hands of any professional basketball player I've ever seen. His stats are elite when playing with Giannis this season which may or may not mean anything. (sample size)
Incredibly impressed with DJ's defense and rebounding. Lots of Bucks fans questioned Horst for picking up his option but they must have seen this coming.
Keston is very important because we lack young, cheap offensive players. As good as Stearns has been with trades/waiver pickups, it is unlikely that he will continue his rate of success. We need some homegrown talent to help manage payroll.
