  1. Just to be clear, a large number of draft choices just means an opportunity to draft players that will fill holes, not a guarantee. Also, the Vikings would have had 7 more picks through the fifth round regardless of what the Packers did yesterday, just for the record.
  2. For those wondering about pick value, the packers gave up 30 (620 value) and 136 (38 value), for 658 total. The got 26 (700 value), so they 'won' the value side of the trade up. Additionally, their 5th has a value of 20.2, so that doesn't give them a lot of ammo to move up today, but does give them some flexibility if they use it. It can get them up MAYBE 3-4 spots in round 2, which could matter some. More significantly, it could move them up 5-7 spots in the 3rd.
  3. I think this is very accurate.
  4. There is nothing more important than QB continuity in the league. The Packers pulled it off once, the 49ers did as well, and beyond that, most teams don't. If they felt that Love was the guy they want taking over in 2-4 years, this pick was absolutely worth it. It doesn't offer instant gratification or the ability to determine whether it was a 'win' like most 1st rounders do (and neither did the Gary pick, FWIW, and that's why a lot of people struggled with it), but whether they're right or not will determine the legacy and future of both Gute and LaFleur in Green Bay. I would suggest waiting at least until the day is over before 'grading' the draft as a success or not. If they manage to land a Pittman or Shenault today, and a contributor in the 3rd, things will seem a lot more rosy to a lot more people. There's a TON of talent still on the board, as we expected there to be on day 2.
  5. I don't have a problem with that. If you have a guy that stands out on your board, that's when you should make a move to get him, or like they did in 2018, sets you up to drop back. It also allows for the use of draft capital like the Patriots historically have done. It's what got the Saints' 1st two years ago, and resulted in getting Alexander and Savage, both of who seem to have worked out very well so far. If anything, I think the current regime has showed a high knowledge of other people's boards and preferences, and they know when the risks are necessary.
  6. I have the odd feeling that the Packers are going to pick more than twice today. Doesn't make a bit of sense, but I've felt it all morning. I do seriously wonder, considering the depth of the draft this year, would they consider trading a 2021 pick for another today?
  7. If Ted was drafting we’d be a lock to find an All-Pro WR in the 2nd!
  8. Didn't he lost like..10 of the top 11 returning offensive players, like his top 6 receivers, the entire OL and get a new system? I don't know what it was exactly, but it was a pretty ridiculous amount of turnover. He was pretty dynamic the year before. I think it was on the ABC coverage that Herbstreet or Palmer said his throwing windows may actually be bigger in the NFL than they were last year due to how horrible his receivers were.
  9. Welp, hadn't considered that until now. And that's a very valid point.
  10. So, where do we go from here? Obviously, the Love pick means they have to find value in the 2nd and 3rd. The good news is that this draft is build for WR depth and there should be some quality guys still there tomorrow night. The downside to what they did with Love, it's that it feels like there was a lot of value to be had by sliding back a bit- Jones and Cleveland still at tackle, Mims, Shenault, Pittman, etc. at WR, Kmet at TE, etc. Not sure what of that talent is there at 62, and the 4th was probably their best ammo to move up from there.
  11. Honestly, I hope this is a signal of a shift back to the BPA draft philosophy that Ted used earlier in his time in GB that drove the fans crazy but built the team that won XLV, probably should have won XLVI and made the playoffs for 8 straight years. Build depth, draft value, and don't reach to fill holes. It was the shift away from that and to trying to plug defensive holes later in his career where the drafting when to crap.
  12. Good thing the draft doesn’t end tonight. And for the record, the Bears gave up two thirds and a fourth to move up one spot for Trubisky, so that’s apples and oranges.
  13. Odd take, considering Ted did literally the same thing as Gute did tonight in 2006. Minus the trade up, I guess.
  14. Holy crap, the Brooks in the first round stuff wasn’t so crazy....
  15. Yep. It’s the move that gets you fired or hung on a wall of honor in 20 years. Must have thought Tennessee was on him at 29?
  16. I mean, they WERE in the NFC Championship just last year....
  17. Seems like he needs time, and we have a time to give. But wow.
  18. Pack moves up!!!
  19. The Packers like to trade with Seattle. If they want Queen, they’ll have to give a 4th to move to Seattle’s spot.
  20. Thought the Pats could have gotten a bit more than a 3rd to drop down 14 slots. That was my first thought, as well. I guess the 3rd is an early 3rd, but I agree.
  21. Mine too. If they want a LB, they’ll have to jump Baltimore unless they like Baun. If they want to to OT or WR, they can slide back.
  22. Pats picked up a 3rd to slide back to 37.
  23. I’d prefer Jones if they go OT. I’m with Reagor and the other WRs off the board, I think they go OT or LB at this point. I suspect Jefferson is going to be a pain for us for the next few years.
  24. Reagor before Jefferson.
