  1. So teams only trade away pieces that don't currently fit? I think that's a bit ridiculous. That's a bit of word twisting. The team probably internally ranked guys that needed to be added, and it's possible if not likely that they were willing to make available the guys that they projected with lower ceilings than the others. I'd imagine that they have a better feel for who that is than we do, and I don't think thinking so is close to "ridiculous." Is it possible that they had to give someone up that was better than they wanted to give up? Of course. But it may just be that they don't have as high of an opinion of a guy as the posters like us on a message board do. I think we're far more guilty of falling in love with the idea of reaquiring guys that used to be here just because we're familiar with them than teams actually are.
  2. McGinn needs to write articles for 'shock value' now to get eyes on his product. He lost relevance when he left the JS, IMO. I'm very much on the 'voice has gotten stale' side of things with McCarthy, and expect the team to move on. Like Andy Reid in Philly, he's a good coach who will succeed elsewhere, probably fairly quickly. But, the Packers can also make a devastating hire that comes out of the 'grass is always greener' stuff. Heck, look and the Bears since dumping Lovie prior to this year. Let's hope we get another Holmgren and not another Ray Rhodes.
  3. Yeah, it's somewhat remarkable that Payton survived to this point in the 'what have you done for me lately' makeup of the current NFL. 7-9 for three straight seasons while 'wasting seasons with a HOF QB' gets a lot of coaches fired, especially when involved in a significant sports scandal.
  4. Yeah, if the Brewers were focused on dumping Schoop's salary, they would just... not offer him a salary for 2019 in the first place.
  5. They’re stuck with Perry for one more year, I think. His deal had a potential out after 2019 when they’re able to cut him and save cap. Before then, I think they get hammered. This is the worst year of his deal. Number goes drastically down next season. Yeah, I missed the 5.4 million roster bonus that they’re not going to pay.

  7. Yep. Not expecting to get the ball back. That’s so stupid I’d fire him tonight and leave him in Seattle.
  8. Color rush is dumb. How can your color rush uniform have no color? In a league full of dumb ideas, this is a really dumb idea.
  9. Have to agree. I can't envision the season turning around without beating a team like Seattle tonight. This and the win over Miami are the type of wins they need. No more room to struggle with the mediocre teams, otherwise we'll prove that that is what we are too.
  10. Sorry, just not a fan of this one. Conley is just kind of a guy. His FIP was nice last year, but when you adjust for not playing half your games in Miami, yikes. And Dietrich is only useful if he's only a bat off the bench. His defense is so bad, it eroded most of his offensive value last year.
  11. Pretty sloppy special teams kept Miami in the game, but a solid performance by the d and a much smoother-looking offense so far.
  12. Hype hasn't been matched by play. Comical amount of o-line penalties, poor pass blocking, and inconsistent run blocking. I think they've been mediocre and a disappointment relative to the preseason talk about the group. But agreed on the rest of your post. The major difference between this team and the past few years is a young, injury-riddled defense. It doesn't help that Chryst still coaches like he has a top 5 defense when on offense, but the defense has been 80% of the team's problem this year.
  13. Yep. I think for all the Hornibrook haters out there that have been calling for him to be benched, the Northwestern and Penn State games were good indications that he's the best QB currently on the roster. I won't go so far as to say that the outcomes of either of those games would have been different, but that game was there for the taking yesterday if they had any sort of threat through the air on offense. Coan isn't a viable QB 1.
  14. They have the #4 QB in the nation committed for this year's recruiting class. He's expected to enroll early, so I would think he'd be given every opportunity to win the job outright even as a true FR. He threw 6 TD passes in his playoff game on Friday. Lots of buzz about him, and an offer sheet that includes Bama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, A&M, etc. He'll be the biggest QB talent to come in here the day he sets foot on campus.
  15. Just out of curiosity, the Brewers just went on a deep playoff run and came within one game of making the World Series. Despite that, and after looking back through your posts since July, 2/3 or more of your posts were directly related to Schoop. So, what's the deal? Why so stuck on this one move/player?
  16. Lost in all of the questions about talent, etc. and the (correct) criticism of Thompson's recent drafts, that 2017 draft looks to be fairly solid at this point. Williams and Jones seem to have the makings of legit 1-2 tandem talent, I maintain hope for Josh Jones and look forward to his increased playing time, and King looks to be a legit corner when he's able to be on the field. The 'able to be on the field' part of that probably ends up making or breaking the '17 class, but at this point things seem to be encouraging.
  17. Looks to be a very good 2018 draft so far.
  18. Another call that goes against the Packers....
  19. Yep. Any player who retaliates like that probably should be ejected for stupidity regardless.
  20. Good to know! Have they ever disagreed/overturned any of the habitually terrible calls their officials make?
  21. Except everyone in the country other than the referee disagrees with you at this point. Everyone except the referee, and the officials who reviewed in NY and confirmed it. It is striking the head, and an automatic ejection. You and the Twitterverse can think what you want about it. NFL calls like that are confirmed in New York?
  22. Except everyone in the country other than the referee disagrees with you at this point.
  23. Any interest in taking a chance on Bruce Irvin, who is about to be released by Oakland? Seems like adding him into the d-line rotation could improve the pass rush if he has anything left!
  24. I would happily bring in Lucroy on a minor league deal with an invite to spring training, and that's about it for him. Realmuto for me, though the cost is going to be the obvious sticking point. Grandal is going to cost too much, so Ramos probably makes the most logical sense in the end.
  25. Kind of a no-brainer for the Rangers, though. With a 6 million sunk cost in that situation, the Rangers basically paid just $1million for that question mark. Very much win-win there.
