  1. This team could be mighty good. That schedule should help eliminate the 'they haven't played anyone' crap that we hear every year if they're in it at the end of conference play.
  2. The last part is only true if Villar fails to rebound at all. Whether he can do that or not is one of the most interesting bets the FO will make this offseason.
  3. I'd do that in a heartbeat, honestly. The question is whether they're getting desperate enough in his camp to consider something like this.
  4. I guess I'm just not overly concerned about letting a guy like Talib pass by at this point based on his salary. With an 11 million cap number for the Rams, I'm not sure I'd rather have that vs. taking a much more cost-effective flyer on a guy like Malcom Butler.
  5. Are Talib or Wilkerson "premium talent" at this point? Suh, Sherman, Graham, sure. But Wilkerson? He's an intriguing reclamation project and could benefit from a reunion with Pettine, but he's had two pedestrian years in a row and just got cut.
  6. Yeah, the position players left like Walker and Lucroy must be really freaking out after this.
  7. A couple of clarifying points, just so that we all understand each other: It's perfectly reasonable to question (or agree with) information/rumors that are posted. It is NOT acceptable to rip the poster or people who believe or don't believe what's posted. If you want to respond to a rumor questioning its validity or agree with it, fine. Posting to question why someone is questioning the validity or expressing their belief of the rumor isn't necessary. No personal attacks. That's always the rule.
  8. Great idea. The leash on the thread is pretty short going forward.
  9. The good news is that he seems realistic about it, noting that he's looking to learn from the eval process but prefers to develop at Wisconsin for another year rather than the D league or whatever if the feedback says that's what he's looking at. I think you're correct that there's almost no chance they'll give him a first round grade.
  10. And that would probably be why Walker and the Brewers haven't reached a deal. I'd bet that the Brewers have offered a fair one year deal, but Walker's camp is holding out for a multi-year contract.
  11. Villar is 26, Walker and Phillips are in their 30's and well into the portion of their career where decline is happening. The lack of a market for those two this offseason has very little similarity to what Villar could hypothetically rebound to if he has a good year.
  12. Unsurprisingly, Davidson to have surgery very soon, Happ to submit for the NBA draft without an agent. He's also confirmed that the grad transfer stuff is bogus.
  13. Honestly, if that's what the Twins offered for Lynn, and if they think there's even a chance that he's starting to get desperate, is there anyone here who wouldn't take him if we offered 2/24?
  14. Would have been great to pull that one out. Looking forward to seeing what this team can do in the B1G tourney.
  15. Yeah, it's worth noting that Walker's defense is not 'solid', he's had negative defensive WAR the last two seasons and is trending the way you'd expect based on age.
  16. That is correct. They only switched to UA last year, the year after Stone played at MD.
  17. Cough.... Wisconsin has a basketball National Championship already.... cough.
  18. Well, for all of the talk about the JR class, Pritzl and Iverson seem to be taking steps forward, and Van Vliet comes out of nowhere with a monster game. I still think it's in the team's best interest (sadly) to have a guy or two like Thomas and/or Alex I. move along, but the last 5 games have been very encouraging.
  19. Well, they’re only nuts if the information proves to be accurate. I don’t think it’s unfair to treat stuff like this from anyone with some skepticism, but as Reilly said, it’s probably not the place for that in this thread going forward.
  20. Kind of makes me wonder if we could get a guy like Lucroy for far less than we thought. This is a nice team friendly deal.
  21. Though I am very much on your side of this debate, I don't think it's unreasonable to wonder if we'll wish in September that we had sold high on one or more of our '2017 breakout' players. Problem is, we likely won't know who that should be until we do.
  22. The D-backs made their deal one day ago. Heck, not even.... 14 hours ago. Maybe it's worth waiting just a bit longer? And what options are peeling off? The backup, backup options like Garcia? There's still 3 of the top 4 FA arms available.
  23. Tampa seems focused on dumping salary without a ton of regard to return. Colome's high price tag probably makes him available for a fairly low return, and I'd certainly hope we're at least inquiring.
  24. Based on what Tampa has done this week, I think Santana doesn't make sense as the centerpiece of an Archer deal, but Phillips might fit better with the rebuild that they're apparently headed into.
