  1. Anybody have any suggestions for a cheap-ish (ie, less than $100) pedometer/timer? I'm not looking for anything super-fancy like micoach, but just looking for a way to track my distance/pacing.
  2. Are they ever amused by anything? I think this would make for a fascinating spring training interview question. "So Tony, you seem like a pretty curmudgeonly guy.... is there anything at all that you find enjoyable?
  3. I've never done one of these shows before, so I'm sure this is a dumb question: you've still got to bring/buy the stuff for them to sign on top of that listed fee, right? So if you wanted to have Jordy Nelson sign a football, you've got to drop $69 PLUS the cost of the football?
  4. Potrykus thinks it's bogus: http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/116109449.html I agree with him- how did this not come up in any of the reports after the game?
  5. I'd bet not. I already have several friends planning which games to go to just to get them, and I'd imagine they're not alone.
  6. That being said, the concern is still there about who will step up to replace Leuer/Nankovil next year, and Jordan the year after. While that's a completely valid point, it's also a reoccurring theme- ie, how would we replace Hughes/Bohannon this year, Landry/Krabbenhoft the year before, Alando Tucker, Mike Wilkinson, etc; yet every season they do it and you barely seem to miss them. It's amazing, really.
  7. Man, you take a Bo Ryan team and tell them they're supposed to be mediocre this year, and they significantly out perform the expectations every time.
  8. The point being that in each case, there were a lot of people wondering why we even bothered, and then they came in and contributed nicely. No guarantee that Kotsay will perform, but unless they gave him gobs of money, I don't see the harm/risk.
  9. Just pointing out that the reaction in this thread is almost exactly the reaction to both the Gabe Kapler and Jim Edmonds signings in the past few years....
  10. Interesting that WISC-3 in Madison seems to only be calling for 1-2 inches total from this storm.
  11. The Social Network was the best movie that Hollywood had to offer in the last year? Really? I mean, really?
  12. Really unfortunate that they had to part ways. Chris was a bright spot on the team and it would have been nice to see him return. Definitely wish him all the best going forward, hopefully he can find something that fits with what he's aiming for next year. Truly hoping for the best as he hopefully makes it back in the bigs as a starter.
  13. Count me with those that are concerned about depth in the rotation- a backup plan of Parra and Rogers as your 6th/7th starters seems like we're setting ourselves up for a major problem when the inevitable injury strikes to our starting 5 (or if Narveson doesn't develop, etc). Cappy seemed like at least a viable option to give us another arm in case the backup plan(s) failed. Hopefully we can still bring in a vet on a minor league deal to add some kind of depth there.
  14. Per Tom H, negotiations between the Brewers and Chris Capuano have broken off and he will not return: http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/112528034.html
  15. If I'm Hardy, I would never come back to Milwaukee by choice after how things went down in August of 2009. If Hardy's offense continues to be way down from his peak a few years ago and he continues to be plagued by injuries, he may not have the luxury of being able to rule out playing for any team in the coming years....
  16. Plus, we already have two lefties in the rotation (wolf and narvy) Cappy would probably be replacing Narveson if he did make the roster somehow (well, unless there's an injury to one of the other 4).
  17. The guy has been great since coming over from Japan, in spite of his age. Even factoring a probable DL stint and some point in the season, and even if he falls back into the low-mid 3 ERA range, he'd still be a productive veteran presence in the pen. And so much for Doug's 'no more additions' comment and the idea that we were out of money to spend. I still think there's a chance they add a SS yet.
  18. Age is already mentioned here, but he's still been an outstanding reliever all 5 years in the majors since coming over.
  19. There have been two warnings in two separate threads about this already that have been ignored. This thread is locked, and if this stuff continues in other threads, there'll be a few days away from the site for everyone involved.
  20. As I more subtly hinted at in the Greinke thread, everybody needs to play nicer, please. This back-and-forth between the same few posters is starting to derail multiple threads.
  21. I'm assuming that's how Peavey meant it, MNBrew. If the Brewers want to put that money towards this year's budget, they only owe Yuni $1M. Yep, that was my point. They owe him 3 million overall, but they could be creative about how they pay/budget it if they'd like.
  22. Betancourt is assured of being the starting SS and I can give you $4M reasons why he's not going away. Technically, the Brewers are only on the hook for $1 million for Betancourt this year, if the early reports of the cash being exchanged now is true.
  23. Green is a DM nugget-mining special. Might pan out, might amount to nothing. Yeah, Doug is good for 1-2 minor signings a year where we wonder 'why bother' and then they end up being positive contributors. Not saying it'll be Green, but he fits the bill.
  24. Yes, Betancourt isn't an asset with the bat, but given the other options that may be available, it's not really a major deficiency. I think that most people here would agree with this and many (including myself) would be ok with his bat if his defense was average/above average.... the problem is that in addition to being average-ish with the bat he's horrific defensively, and that's what makes him an unacceptable starter.
