  1. Yeah, just seems like speculation. Danks is probably a completely unattainable piece for anyone, even Prince.
  2. Anyone else see how fired up Braun was going around the bases? I couldn't read his lips to hear what he was saying, probably something about Donnelly coming inside the way he did. When he was in the dugout taking his gloves off I could tell he was still fired up about it. I completely expect him to get drilled next time up.
  3. True, but even in that case the return would still theoretically be declining between now and then I'm not entirely sure that's true. You open the potential trading partners up to the whole league instead of just those who are pushing (ie, the Cubs aren't going to buy now, but would in the offseason), and you also increase the players that a team can afford to give up (ie, the Giants, who are unlikely to trade away a starting pitcher because they can't afford to open a hole in their starting rotation for their push, when that wouldn't be an issue in the offseason).
  4. Probably best to get in the "remember that political discussions are not allowed here" disclaimer early in the thread....
  5. more than missing out on a full extra year of controlling him??? I think the prevailing opinion is that if they don't trade Fielder this month, that they will trade him this offseason rather than waiting until the deadline next year.
  6. Almost stunning that Corey has more HR than the other 4 guys combined.
  7. Bobby V is really bad at judging whether these are HR or not off the bat.
  8. Morgan picks Cabrera because his intro was best, Valentine picks JOSE Ortiz..... add in Berman and that makes a nice trifecta.
  9. David Ortiz not real happy about being booed.... What in the world has Joe Morgan done to keep getting on these HR derby broadcasts?
  10. Holy off-key, dude from Train.
  11. I expect Melvin to be back next year regardless, and Macha to not be back barring a miraculous run at the post season after the break.
  12. The thing that doesnt get talked about much is if they pick up a MLR pitcher, they would be able to flip a pitcher like Bush, Davis or Narverson for a decent outfielder. Very possible, depending on the major deal with Hart, Weeks, or Fielder. If they are able to get some sort of MLB pitcher like Garza or Sanchez, they might have to include someone like Bush to fill the trade partner's rotation spot.
  13. Worse? Based on what? Head to head stats. No one is going to argue that Hardy isn't a very good defensive SS, but the fact that he's been worse than Gomez offensively can't be ignored.
  14. Atta boy Corey. Nice way to end your Brewer Career. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I think they'll at least wait and let him come out of the All-Star break as a Brewer. Now I wouldn't bet against this being his last home game in Milwaukee, considering the 8-game road trip after the break...
  15. My point was that All Star closer was on a team that was a couple years away and not really needed at that time as compared to getting high upside players. That 2007 Brewers team led the division until early September and finished only 2 games behind the Cubs, so they weren't far away at all.
  16. Hardy for Gomez was bad. Hardy has been hurt and worse than Gomez so far this year (which really says something) while making a lot of money. It remains to be seen how Hardy performs when he's not having the injury issues, but you'd also hope that Gomez would develop a bit over the next couple of seasons as he hits his peak. Too early to tell on that trade, IMO.
  17. Most of Melvin's bad moves have been with the bigger free agent acquisitions. Most of his trades have been pretty good.
  18. overhyped POS. Abbreviated swearing like this isn't allowed here, for the record.
  19. Holy crap, Coffee looks like a completely different person and about 19 years old without his beard.
  20. Yeah, I wouldn't read too much into that blurb. It's probably just reporting an 'I'm not inclined to move Lyle Overbay'-type comment.
  21. Like almost everyone else, I'd strongly prefer Minor to Sanchez, but I also agree with X that unless a deal falls into our lap that would be crazy to pass up, it probably isn't a bad idea to wait and see what happens after the AS break as teams get more willing to talk. I'm not as down on Sanchez as a lot of people here, but agree that he'd be a less than ideal return now that a guy like Minor is supposedly on the table. Still, while he has the walk/not going deep into a lot of games issues that we have with Parra, he's also had two much better seasons than Manny in a row and an ERA 1.5 runs lower than Manny this year. Probably an upgrade in our, but not a guy I'd want the Brewers to trade for around the All Star Break.
  22. For a 'defensive whiz', Escobar sure has been disappointing in the field so far this year.
  23. Ah. You're thinking of the New Britain Rock Cats Or the St Cloud Riverbats.
  24. That has got to be one of the strangest things I've ever seen in a game- Casey Mcgehee decided he wanted to make a pitching change?
