  1. Very few TJ folks have years of consecutive health...heck, not many pitchers do, and TJ folks are less healthy than average. I presume you have a link/facts to back that up?
  2. It's been 4 pages of the exact same comments I think you're right that there's some beating the dead horse going on, and it's probably best to lock the thread for now, barring any additional developments.
  3. What's funny is, Sheets was healthy for most of his deal, yet folks still complained about that. Johnson had one serious injury. Sheets had 5-10 of varying seriousness. I guess I don't see what' funny.
  4. I'd have reservations about trading Gamel for Edwin Jackson, but I'd give him up in a heartbeat for Johnson, especially if he's only looking for 4/$40 at this point. I agree completely. Jackson and Johnson both fit the bill for what we should be looking for, but Johnson is more in-line with what we should be looking for if we're really willing to give up Gamel.
  5. Salome in the OF destroys nearly all the value that he has. He could be well above average offensively at a non-offensive position, or average-at-best elsewhere with presumably horrific defense in the OF. Never, ever, ever, going to happen.
  6. I still have friends that don't understand the Hardy trade! I'm still not sure if I understand the Hardy trade.....
  7. Lowe would be a disaster in any infield that had Fielder, Weeks Both Fielder and Weeks look to have made great strides defensively last year (with the obvious disclaimer that Weeks' time was limited).
  8. they are under no obligation to tell you anything not legally required (the basement floods). An experienced realtor can tell you what stuff is likely to be replaced, if the roof looks like it's crap, and so on....... probably by not telling you stuff. Most things they would otherwise be telling you would be caught by your home inspector, just for the record.
  9. Not for long. But haven't the "experts" been saying that since May or June?
  10. Crossed 10,000 on the Dow again today- just keeps chugging along!
  11. To those of us a bit younger, he'll always be Mario! Do the Mario!
  12. What ever happened to "Right Said Fred?" They were too sexy for employment.
  13. I think the Yuku server that it's on is down. Brewerfan and LL are on different servers, which is why this site is still up.
  14. We are 2.5 months away from Christmas Or as 94.9 WOLX in Madison refers to it, '.5 months before switching to all Christmas music all the time'. I'm only slightly exaggerating.
  15. Getting to 80 wins considering the unbelievable seasons that Fielder and Braun produced is not exactly an accomplishment. Considering how horrible the rotation was, I disagree.
  16. Macha got 80 wins with the worst rotation in the league. In retrospect, that's remarkable. When put in those terms, I agree. The pitching was a trainwreck and they were still right around .500.
  17. Bobby valentine is out there begging to manage a team and we keep Macha. This is an incredibly stupid decision. Bobby has been begging for a while. The fact that no one seems interested in hiring him seems indicative of something.
  18. JP made a slew have terrible deals, ruined a once great farm system, and gave out terrible contracts like thet were lollipops. Despite a huge budget, and the fact that he inherited some great players, he ran them into a hopeless situation. I think this puts it exceptionally well. JP was fired because he wasn't a good GM, not because his hands were shackled by some mysterious budget constraints.
  19. According to wikipedia, these are potential bidders for the 2020 games. Birmingham, Alabama There's some sort of comedic error with that one being on the list, right?
  20. The $1,000 is meant to catch the small things that must be dealt with. A new altenator, a leaking roof, a band-aid furnace fix to get you through another year, etc. No, it won't allow you to continue living your current lifestyle if you lose your job without warning. I understand what you're saying, but I don't agree with the concept. You can rackup over 1,000 pretty darn quickly and it wouldn't take a whole heck of a lot (what happens if you need a new alternator, then a week later your furnace goes out?). Heck, where are your property insurance deductibles set? Out of pocket expenses for your medical insurance? I just don't think your .001% estimates are even in the ball park. It seems like you're setting yourself up to HAVE to go back to the credit cards because you're not sufficiently prepared and take a huge step back in your efforts, if not completely derail them.
  21. (2) I hate Chicago and Chicagoans, I want no part of anything that gives that city positive publicity and gives the natives excuses to puff out their chests and sing the praises of their trashy city. Honestly, it's been extremely tough for me to get past that as well. I too expect Rio to get the games, and I think rightfully so since the continent hasn't had a games yet. Madrid did actually lead the voting after the 2nd vote for the 2012 games, so they might be a dark horse if they don't have a problem with another European games as already mentioned. I think Tokyo is the only one that doesn't really seem to be in the running. (So that means they'll probably win somehow:) )
  22. Next advice, if your emergency fund is anything higher than $1,000 cut it down to $1,000 and throw the difference at your debt. I think this is very dangerous. You almost always want to have 3-6 months of your net salary saved up in case of injury/disability/being fired/laid off/etc (ie, something completely unforeseen that would be catastrophic), especially in a recessionary economy with rampant unemployment. Otherwise, if your income were to change, you have no way of paying some of your bills/debt even with the most strict budget, because it will be completely and alarmingly unusable at that point.
  23. Oh wait, nevermind. Suppan is crap. He finished with a 5.30 ERA, and I doubt people would have expected much more than that out of him when the season began regardless.
  24. I highly recommend getting personal finance software like Quicken where you can download all of your credit card transactions and balances I agree- I used to track by spreadsheet, but switched to Quicken back in May and will never, ever look back. Great software, especially if you have investments and such to track as well.
  25. This thread is about Gerut/Cameron. There are plenty of other threads to carry on a debate about our pitching options for 2010.
