  1. If the sole return was Cabrera, I'd be very disappointed. He hits like a CF but plays in left. Poor slugging percentage with little power. He does have a great eye and good plate discipline, so that works to his advantage. As you said, he's 22 and could develop, but if the goal is to win next year, Cabrera shouldn't be anywhere in the lineup, unless he's in center. Is it that he CAN'T play center, or that the Yankees just don't play him there?
  2. Yeah, you're right, if you don't count Saito and Otsuka and Sasaki and Hasegawa. How many of those were 'exclusive rights bid' players, which was the question that I asked?
  3. Has there been one of these Japanese 'exclusive rights bid' pitchers that has come over and actually been a success? I believe Nomo was just a FA that came over and had success early on, mixed around a couple of no-hitters, but otherwise, most of the Japanese guys that came over have been nothing to speak of.
  4. As of late last night, the Orioles had no interest in Geoff Jenkins. They're only interesting in knowing where that rumor started. Maybe they should be more interested in actually putting together a decent team next year, but maybe that's just me. As of last last night, the Orioles hadn't been engaged in a single discussion with the Brewers concerning Derrick Turnbow, according to multiple people who would know. What a very odd thing to 'report'. What's next, reporting about the other 700 Major League players that the Orioles haven't had discussions about?
  5. I would be thrilled to give pretty much anything to get either Baldelli or Crawford, save for Weeks, Prince, Hall, Sheets and Cappy. Everyone else could be fair game, and would be very worth it.
  6. Mench for Lopez? I'd be fine with that. Not thrilled, not unhappy, just ok. After looking at Lopez' stats, he's had two outstanding years (2002, 2004), one mediocre year (2005), and two really bad years (2003 and 2006). If we get anything close to his 02 or 04 efforts, he'd be a total steal. I'd expect a slight adjustment down in his numbers in going from the AL to the NL in the first place. Anyway, sounds like the deal was discussed but never really got to far in the first place, so this might all be a waste of time.
  7. What is Billy Hall? Our shortstop or 3rd baseman, I hope.
  8. I'm actually warming to the Roberts idea as well. Ideally I'd like to see Brady traded if we sign him, though. The one truly worrisome thing about Roberts is that he's 34, though. Otherwise, his stats have been pretty good, especially considering that most of his career has been spent in Dodger Stadium and Petco. That said, I'd still hope we can acquire a serious power corner OF as well.
  9. Man alive, some of the names being thrown around that are associated with the Brewers this offseason are downright terrifying.
  10. I wish I had an ounce of guitar ability so I could write a song full of cliches about America and become rich. If you listen to his songs from back when he was still "Cougar" in the 80s, you'll discover than an ounce was about all the guitar ability he had as well.
  11. No I am not. If I am dismissing 2004, then so are you Peavey, because he hit 35 dingers and drove in 80 runs. I've said nothing about HRs or RBI in any of my posts. My entire objection is that .270 is an unrealistic projection/expectation for him, since he hasn't hit that since 2003, and has been out of baseball for an entire year.
  12. Spending his entire career(almost) studying national league pitching and then expecting him to pick up where he left off at 36 years old(I THINK) in a new league against new pitchers was asking him to bite off more than he can chew. But then you're dismissing 2004, where he was still in the NL and only hit .253.
  13. Although I think he is capable of a .270 25HR 70RBI season. I disagree, as he hasn't hit .270 plus since 2003 and hit only .221 in 2005.
  14. I can honestly say that I'd much rather have any of our current options in the outfield, without thinking twice.
  15. Davis will only cost about $4-5 million for next season. What are you basing those numbers off of? He'll almost surely get 5-6 million in arby, and will likely get 6-7 million if the Brewers extend him.
  16. You honestly think Maddux is going to cost 12-14 million next year? That's absurd.
  17. I agree with RoCo's assessment. The only way I see Maddux being a fit here is if we make a serious play for Ramirez and decide to non-tender Davis to free up some salary room. In that case, I'd be all for Maddux coming in and filling that spot.
  18. I'm at the point where I deserve to post again. Good football game tonight. Only drank beer. It was hard posting this without serious errors.
  19. Yep. And I have work tomorrow. Disappointed that I had to bump this all the way from page 4.
  20. After a ~5 hour outage tonight (and still able to get in sporatically), I'd imagine they have some serious non-time change stuff going on. And actually, I think Brian might have to manually change it.
  21. So where has all this Veron Wells talk come from? I would LOVE adding him, but how did this talk start? Pure fan dreaming, or actual 'insider' rumor? Unless there's some rumor specifically linked, it's probably just idle speculation on our part 99% of the time, as is the case here.
  22. Allright! Time to start the offseason and Milwaukee's road to the 2007 World Series.
  23. So who is going to be MVP of this mediocre, boring World Series? No one really jumps out there.
  24. I am too, I am also wondering what free agents the team is "zeroing in" on. Me too. I think our 'big acquisition' that Attanasio refered to is probably going to come via trade (like Carlos Lee) rather than free agency, though I would be thrilled if we found a way to land Schmidt. I wouldn't be shocked to see Vernon Wells or Pat Burrell as a Brewer in a couple of months.
  25. I think that was NickNoogybower, who is immortalized in the Woah Solvdd forum. But I'm not sure either. It definitely wasn't litesrn, who is a frequent poster at Lambeauleap.
