  1. Helena is the higher of the two teams.
  2. Pre-draft deal is likely, but you can be sure regardless that if the Brewers took him in the 2nd, that the committment to FSU had been discussed and the Brewers were confident it wouldn't be an issue. But I'm guessing pre-draft deal. The financial details will help us figure it out.
  3. Brady! Too bad Zack couldn't finish the 7th and get the win.
  4. Two rookie league teams start after the draft, Southwest. One is more for rougher, less experienced players (high schoolers, guys signed out of the Dominican, etc) and one is for more experienced players (college guys, Juco guys, maybe a couple of the more advanced HS'ers). Some guys already in the organization that aren't playing in the minors yet will also join them, so it won't be entirely this year's draftees.
  5. Quality start in his first time out, very well done!
  6. Line outs are fly outs, as they are caught on the fly.
  7. This draft was pretty ho-hum going in, as colby would probably tell you. Compared to past years, this year was pretty weak. Add in picking in the second half of the round instead of in the top 5-10, and of course the talent isn't going to be as exciting.
  8. The guy running the draft conference call right now sounds like he's 19.
  9. He did phrase his post in such a way as to not take a personal attack. Sorry Dave, when you tell someone to 'shove it hard' and call their idea brain-dead, I fail to see how that's not a personal attack. But if somebody insults me, I'm going to hit back. I'm sick of taking it on the chin from belligerent and/or ignorant posters who don't have the decency to make reasoned or at least civil arguments. I didn't see geothite's post as a direct insult to you at first, but I see how you are taking it that way. That said, you should very well know that 'he started it' isn't a valid reason for your actions. Back to draft discussion, please.
  10. Gregmag, that was completely inappropriate, and quite simply way out of line. Make your argument without blatant personal attacks, please.
  11. I've said it before and I'll say it again: This is a very streaky team. I predict an 8-game winning streak now. Immediately followed by a four-game losing streak.
  12. I think compensation picks are important in two regards: 1. For teams who are in smaller markets, it is a way to even the field by giving them a better shot at acquiring new talent to develop. That's the theory behind the picks, but that's not how it works. The comp picks aren't going to the smaller market teams. They're going to the Sox and Yankees because of them getting guys like Lee for August and beyond, then getting the picks after he leaves.
  13. There must be a reason why Bard still hasn't been taken. There he finally goes at 28...
  14. 1e- just use Mlb.com's draft tracker. They've totally screwed up their coverage by mlbtv and radio...
  15. Have to take Miller if he's there...
  16. Both Mayo and Simpson on mlb.com now have Miller falling out of the top 6 if the Royals do take Hochevar.
  17. A five round mock? He'll be lucky to hit on more than a dozen picks... But certainly ambitious.
  18. 4 walks in 5.2 innings is horrendous, and its unfortunately becoming the norm with this staff. And it should be pointed out that 3 of those walks happened in that 6th inning. Do you maybe think that DLR was done after 5 and should have been removed accordingly?
  19. Boy these runs would've looked nice if JDLR hadn't walked the pitcher and if Weeks learned how to throw. Of course you're somehow forgetting the fact that DLR walking the pitcher didn't allow any runs to score. In fact, not one run scored that inning with DLR on the mound. Winklesas just happened to give up a grand slam, so maybe it's him that should be held somewhat accountable?
  20. You know, I'm starting to get on board with the Rickie to the minors until he gets his defense figured out line of thinking.
  21. So Ned should have taken him out instead of the intentional walk? Yes, as I said clearly in my first post on the subject.
  22. I can't believe you're defending a pitcher who can't throw three pitches for strikes. The dude is a reliever who was in his sixth inning of work in his second start of the year. He had CLEARLY hit the wall. It's the coaches' responsibility to not put him in a situation that he was in.
  23. That is total, total crap by the homeplate umpire. First and formost, how in the heck does he know that Hall's not frustrated that he and the rest of the team are playing like crap, and that it has ANYTHING to do with the strike call? Following the player to the dugout and insisting that he get the bat is pure bush league by the ump.
