  1. Dale paying homage to Ned with the lineup out of the hat?
  2. You can have a lot of qualms with Yost if you make-up or mis-remember stuff. I think you're referring to the June 24th game against the Royals last year and would just suggest you look back at it.
  3. Yes, but these were all stories from someone who knows someone who knows someone close to team. In the reactions from players so far the worst to be said about him was that some guys didn't like him and he was a nervous guy.
  4. Yeah, to me the whole presser seemed like Doug trying to wash his hands of the move and Mark trying to dance around every question.
  5. Yeah, Doug looks completely beat and Attanasio has this dorky smirk. Hmmm.....
  6. Braun has been know to tell it like it is, and he pretty much said the opposite.
  7. I'd be surprised if he had anything to do with the organization next year with his friend getting canned in the middle of September.
  8. From ESPN - "I think we have sucked in September so far," a Brewers player who wished to remain anonymous told ESPN.com's Amy K. Nelson. "And I don't think it's his fault that we can't hit or pitch right now, but something had to change." Braun maybe?
  9. This wreaks of desperation. I'm not sure how replacing Yost with Sveum "puts our club in the best position for the final two weeks of the season." Dale Sveum does not have magical powers as far as I know. Anything that happens after this move (miss or make playoffs) won't be a result of this. Purely speculation, but I'd bet Attanasio got antsy and told Doug that he'd be firing Ned.
  10. I wasn't born at the time, but I'd imagine that losing game seven of the world series was a lot worse than falling into a tie for the wildcard.
  11. Pretty much right on here. I'm sure sure why Yost needs to be blamed for half his team slumping so far this month. I doubt there's any coach out there who can prevent slumps. Right now he's doing the only thing he can do to help them get out of their funk: letting them play. Yost gets quite a bit of criticism and some of it is warranted (pitch hitting Gwynn, Shouse pitching to righties, etc.), but I don't see how he gets blamed for this dismal September. If anything, Yost should get some credit for not having any public outbursts yet. He must know his job is on the line. He could have easily thrown Soup under the bus after last nights game, or criticized Braun, Fielder, Hart, Cam, ect. for their poor play this month. I'm sure that if we miss the playoffs this year, Yost becomes the scapegoat. Its really no big deal, though. I new manager isn't going to make much if any difference. He won't drag the team down, but he won't magically make a streaky team consistant either.
  12. Tied for the wildcard lead with a little over two weeks to go. Last time we played the Cubs we came in hot and fell flat on our faces. MAYBE (big maybe) the opposite will be true this time.
  13. Well, Fielder hit a HR and McClung looked good. Other than that, ugh.
  14. He pulled them for pinch hitters.
  15. That's not a fair comparison. If the players do check out BF.net and don't like what they see, they can easily avoid it. Booing on the other hand can't be avoided. Also, I'm sure its easier for players to blow off criticism from some 3000 internet geeks than from a stadium full of booing fans.
  16. Because booing can have a negative impact on a players confidence, which in turn can have a negative impact on that player's performance and the team as a whole. No one is forcing fans to pay anything. If a fan can't control their emotions during something a common as a slump or bad play, maybe their money would be better spent. Again, I'm sure players would realize that fans don't like blown saves and errors with or without the boos.
  17. It's their right to give Brewers fans the reputation of being a bunch of drunk idiots! It's sad that Miller Park becomes a less hostile environment when invaded by Cubs fans. At least then they only get booed when trying to pick someone off.
  18. http://brewersfandemonium....com?topic=10651?page=115 You seriously think they need to be told they're not playing up to their potential? Right, if Gagne wasn't booed so much this year, he'd probably think he was having a great season. This doesn't explain the boos before a players enters a game. Is that just a chant to say "hey, we know you're better than how bad we think you're going to do!" Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
  19. I know this month has been hard on some people, but come on man. You can't just pick out a couple stats that you like, ignore other stats that discredit your claims, and accuse me of being the one that's drinking Kool-Aid. You've been on this site long enough to know that BA and K's by themselves aren't a good measure a player's performance.
  20. Which obviously cancels out his excellent numbers so far. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  21. Does this mean that someone who wasn't eligible for the post season roster can be added now?
  22. My biggest concern is Rickie weeks. He's fine at the plate but not good enough to make up for his shoddy defense. I'd love to see a Ray Durham/Mark Loretta platoon at second but won't be holding my breath.
  23. Brian, could I get the info for sending a check?
  24. Last year was a completely different situation. This team this is not really even close to being the same as last year (new bullpen, another ace, etc.). The people concerned about the collapse last year had good reason to be concerned. Our team was not as good as our hot start. Starters not going deep in games + a suspect bullpen + our ace and innings eater going down was the perfect storm last year. It's not that the people who are always calm that are always right, but that the people who are realistic tend to be right. I'll claim that they were being very shortsighted. And having a rough patch in September shouldn't come as a surprise. No way were we going to keep on playing as well as we did in August.
