  1. I have carried small items in and haven't been stopped. Since they don't like bags, I also bring a small plastic grocery bag or one of those cloth bags with a pull string closure and put it in my pocket. Once I get through the gate I put all my stuff in the bag. Works great when you have all those bobble heads, etc.
  2. Jandel Gustave seems to be an option soon.
  3. I love what the guy has done in his career and what he meant to making this franchise relevant again, but even if he agreed to come back, he'd need 3-4 weeks to get ready. He's also a RH hitter and although he hit RH pitchers well enough, we need a LH bat with Shaw and Vogelbach hurt (also JBJ struggling and Yelich lacking power). He'd be a fun add to the bench, but he isn't the only move that needs to be made.
  4. He's been decent so far for the Dodgers. .254/.294/.493. Not great, but considering how down offense is and how bad Brewers offense has been, he could have helped a little. However, he wasn't going to sign here unless 10 other teams passed.
  5. HUGE OVERPAY. Just because his numbers are better than what we have doesn't make him good. I'd take him in a swap for Reyes, Robertson, or Vogelbach, but if the Brewers are trying to upgrade they need to get a real upgrade, not just a league average guy. I'm still holding out hope that Hiura turns it around.
  6. I think players like Shaw need to come to grips with what they are. Going forward he'll be a back of the roster, injury fill-in, bounce around the league guy. He'll be signing minor league contracts "with invitation to spring training" deals. If he doesn't accept that he may need to spend a little time in AAA once in a while, then he'll have a tough time getting deals. Very similar to what Lucroy is going through right now. He can still make a pretty decent living for a few years that way and if he gets hot, he can still have a good year or two in the right situation. Give him 2-3 weeks to if he can get on a streak or time to move on.
  7. Could do a Robertson back to the IL with the calf injury and go with Green for a week or two. Also could send Hiura back. AVG/OBP and Strike outs aren't where you like them, but the same with just about everyone else.
  8. I prefer to bring food, as the quality is generally bad. This year I was willing to accept the situation, but have been complaining lately. How do COVID restrictions cause you to not have any Ketchup? The next game they didn't have ranch dressing for the menu item that prominently includes ranch dressing. With limited stands and capacity there is no excuse for not having ordered and stocked the items you serve. Last night I ordered a burger that included "special sauce" or something but was completely dry. My tots were cold, too. I now send them back, which is what the management of the Delaware North claims it wants customers to do, but the staff looks at me like I'm crazy. Agree the pizza has gone backwards. The burgers have also gone backwards. I think the basic nachos actually might have got better. Not happy about raising prices by adding sales taxes. I know its only $1-2 per game, but if the quality of the food sucks it just annoys me. We've already smuggled in food a few times and happy to see they will be relaxing the restrictions soon.
  9. Haudricourt reported recently that Sobotka was being held out due to a sinus infection. Sounds rather odd to be out that long. Maybe something else going on.
  10. Pitching changes are NOT the problem. It’s time between pitches. It’s been shown conclusively, there’s no debate. 5 minutes faster game for every 1 second you cut between pitches. This is my issue with baseball. Many of these guys are taking 90 seconds or more between pitches, especially when they struggle. Giannis gets whistled for taking 11 seconds on a free throw and MLB pitchers are doing this? Start enforcing a pitch clock and the game would improve. Good story on the how things have slowed down and the impact https://www.royalsreview.com/2021/1/21/22234171/the-pitch-clock-is-the-silver-bullet-for-some-of-mlbs-self-described-problems
  11. Not an upgrade at SS and costs us bullpen depth. Brewers must feel good about guys like Wahl, Weigel, Perdomo, etc. Not sure I agree. Maybe they were worried about a 40 man crunch when all these injured pitchers come back. With Adames, Urias, Wong up the middle this might spell the end for many of these AAAA utility guys, like Reyes, Robertson, Peterson, Mathias, etc. but I'm not holding my breath.
  12. Could he have done better on some of his moves for offensive players? Yes, but I don't think it has been that bad. 1. Everyone always focuses on the deals that don't work out - you need to look at the good ones too. 2. Some of the players people want back are just average or at best slightly above average. (Aguilar, Cooper, Villar, etc.) 3. Grisham looks like he might have gotten away, but apparently the Brewers thought Ray/Taylor, etc. could match / exceed him and I like the offensive potential of Urias over Arcia. It is easier to find a competent OF bat than a plus SS bat. 4. 2020 throws a lot of recent analysis off and 2021 has been a small sample. 5. Offense around the league is at historic lows - we aren't alone in this problem.
  13. I think Arcia will be non-tendered this off season, so we can always re-sign him if things don't work out.
  14. I have thought about this as well. It will be interesting to see the impact on scalpers. If I am traveling and try to go to games in other cities I often find it much cheaper to just find an extra ticket outside stadiums. Obviously the StubHub / secondary online market probably won't be affected too much, but maybe the days of people hawking tickets at events will go away.
  15. The scanning of e-tickets is much slower than the paper tickets, especially when you have a large crowd. I'm sure we'll get quicker at it as we go, but people have dead batteries, forget their password to the app, etc. I found the easiest way for me is to take a screen shot of my ticket and just bring them up on my camera. Knowing how my senior citizen relatives struggle with many day-to-day uses of technology, this could be a problem for a many of them. Other sports (Bucks, etc.) have been doing this, but not sure how many of them get as large of a senior citizen attendance. Those mid-week day game crowds could be interesting.
  16. I like Vogelbach's bat better, but considering how much CC likes versatility and double switches, can't see how he's kept over McKinney. If there was a DH it might be a different story.
  17. I totally understand that we are in a "New Normal" on policies due to COVID. However, when they return to more regular seating and admission I hope they relax the food policy to at least allow some carry-ins. Baseball is different from many sports in amount of games. For example - I will attend 40+ games per year, probably 60+ when counting minor league games, road trips, etc. I know some of you can eat brats every day of the year, but by game 5 of a home stand I've pretty much had my fill of stadium food. The Brewers have increased their variety, but it still lacks compared to many stadiums I've attended. Plus, it gets real expensive with tickets, parking, etc. for that many games. I could attend less games, but that will impact attendance for me and many others. The ability to bring my own peanuts, licorice, a sandwich, etc. really helps. I'm sure they have done cost / profit analysis on all the options, though. Hopefully whatever we end up with is palatable for the fans. The Brewers seem to have a unique fan base, as seen by the outstanding attendance numbers in recent years. I would suspect they'd want to be careful not to reduce that too much over the long term.
  18. Molitor played a decent amount of 3B and would likely be the best we've had. Cirillo probably next. Don Money was pretty good, but that is also a long time ago. Since Cirillo it has basically been A-Ram and not much else. A few guys had a good year or two like McGehee, Seitzer, Shaw. Could really use a long term solution at the position, but then again they need one at 1B, too. I like Turner, I just think he's too old and don't think he's taking a 1-2 year deal to play in Milwaukee.
  19. What amazes me is his Gold Glove. Just shows how the voting for that is really about offense and popularity. I actually enjoyed watching games he was in the outfield to watch his horrible defense and laugh. With that said, he appears to be an above average hitter/ slugger, but only posted an OPS above .800 twice and one was the short season. I'd be worried about any long term deal due to the inability for the Brewers to move on if he's just an average player.
  20. This was my thought. Would guess that he is depth / 3rd catcher. "Major league contract" only means a 40-man roster spot, not that he is guaranteed a spot in the Major Leagues.
  21. I would think if he comes back it would have to be very incentive filled. Games played, AB's, etc.
  22. Are we back to the 1990's rosters of rejects, castoffs, over the hill vets and low level prospects. Not saying Smoak is the answer to our problems, but Voglebach has been horrible other than a hot streak early last year. I remember when I wanted an improvement on Overbay. Would love to have a guy like that now.
  23. Peterson is younger, but throughout his career has been a statistically worse player than Holt. Maybe Peterson gets hot and has an impact, but the move is likely not going to make a difference. More playing time for Urias, Sogard, Gyorko, Matthias.
  24. Grimm and Morrison would push this back to 39. If any of Lauer, Perdomo, or Urias come off COVID list, they'd be full. With Lauer pitching today, maybe he'll make the opening day roster.
