  1. And next year you'd have Shaw back at 3rd and Schoop at 2nd, with Moose being a Free agent (decline option).
  2. Not sure the defense works, but not much improvement on offense either. Moose been bad last couple of months.
  3. Not using Zagurski in the 8-1 blowout resulted in having to use him today in a close game. Bad idea and planning. Not the sole reason they lost today, but you never know if things could have gone differently in that big inning.
  4. Not gonna happen
  5. Has to be a starting pitcher. Either a trade involving Santana (if they can sign Cain) or a free agent if they can't.
  6. I think this list of guys that need protection next year leads to the possibility of a deal for a starting pitcher this off season. We can move 3-4 young players in a deal pretty easily.
  7. I usually liked AJ Bombers in past seasons, but this year it was mediocre. I tried burgers about 6 or 7 times. None were great. At least 3 were wrongly made and / or cold. The tenders were OK, but were a much better deal. Tacos and other items also seemed to slip. I tend to stay away from sausages unless they are made in front of me as the quality is often a crap shoot. Both times I had them this year they were cold and dry with hard buns. We did mostly carry-in food. I did like the look of everything, though.
  8. I agree this is a probelm for a trade. In addition, teams that might be interested in his HR numbers would be less interested due to the large amount of players who are suddenly hitting HRs.
  9. I've thought this made sense as a trade option before we picked up Walker. Stearns kept saying he wanted longer term pieces and thoughts were that Miami wanted to unload contracts and would eat some salary. I wonder if they started discussions that could re-engage this winter. Villar for Gordon and $3-4 milion per year would seem logical to me. Brewers could resign Sogard cheap and have Perez as insurance.
  10. I don't have any problem with this deal. Those who do seem to more upset that we didn't target someone better. The biggest problem I have with this deal is that I now have to listen to people repeatedly call him Jeffries again.
  11. I haven't seen it enough yet, but I thought his swing was a little long.
  12. Supposedly he was terrible this spring. Was making $2.8 million, so it will be interesting to see what he signs for.
  13. For weekend I'll be there a room with field view is about $500 CAD per night and non-filed view is about $200-300 CAD per night. That's before taxes/ fees and parking. The Field view would be cool, but I'd want to see a game in the stadium also, and don't want to drop a grand.
  14. Anyone with updates on where to stay in Toronto? Unfortunately I'll be there the day after the Brewer series, but looking forward to seeing a game there anyway (Orioles). Thinking about the Rogers Centre hotel, but not sure if it's really worth it.
  15. I agree that this seems a little odd. Maybe a Scooter move coming? At SS you have Arcia, Villar, Perez and Rivera all capable of playing. He seems to be a AAA player at this point, and I'd think you could get someone for that through minor league contracts.
  16. Adam Lind is likely available. 1 yr at $4-5 million would get it done. Would need a RH platoon partner though. Perez?
  17. Since this thread has really turned into a discussion of 1B and Carter, my 2 cents. I think the smart option is to try to do a 2 year deal (2/12ish). Build in performance bonuses like this year. If they can't work it out, not sure I'd do the 1 year for more than 5 mil. If it doesn't work out start looking at options. A left handed 1B wouldn't be terrible. Adam Lind is getting old with his bad back, but could be had cheaper on a 1 year deal. Perez could platoon against lefties and try to develop an option for 2018. Face it - many of us would have been happy with Jason Rodgers last year, so options can be found.
  18. I was relatively happy with the season. I thought they could win about 72 games, but thought that could end up being optimistic based on expected trades and injuries. I really expected them to fall off at the end of the year with all the games on the road and against winning teams and they held their own, which was fun to watch. I was disappointed in some of the performances early in the year (starting pitching, outfield performance) but I think that the front office and coaching staff did a nice job finding and developing some talent. It could have been a lot worse.
  19. Trying to, if Jeffress can ever get around to getting a third out here. No kidding, don't believe in jinxes, but that was bad timing.
  20. Can people keep an eye out for Lucroy at the victory celebration on the field tonight?
  21. Based on how they have been shifting so much, I see the Brewers going to SS caliber personnel playing SS, 2B, and 3B. If you think about it, against RH hitters the 2B is playing up the middle or at SS anyway and needs to make that longer throw. Scooter hasn't impressed me with that throw. Additionally, when a LH hitter is being shifted, the 3B is now in the hole at SS. Hill has done OK there, but could you imagine the slow feet of many traditional 3B covering that spot? If they continue the trend towards shifts, and it appears the Brewers like this adjustment, then you're really playing 3 SS to maximize the effect. I think Villar and Rivera fits in with Perez as an alternative. Walsh and Scooter would be relegated to reserve roles or trades.
  22. I've generally been pretty happy with the team so far. I don't expect 90 wins, but if they can keep playing solid baseball, I'm good with that. I've especially been impressed with the approach at the plate. It seems like they are making a serious effort to work the count, take walks, and improve their OBP. Many of the players have already shown that they are talented enough to play at this level, its just a matter of consistency and making adjustments to the pitchers.
  23. I used Fox Sports Go on my tablet on opening day and again today. As a TW Cable viewer it is great to be able to watch this when not at home. Picture is a little blurry at times, but not bad. Very happy to finally see that I can finally watch when not at home.
  24. I still think Mike Trout is the better player. He's going to be making about $34 million at end of his deal and has played at MVP level for multiple years. Harper needs to do it for a couple more years, and then would likely start his deal at around that $34 million range, maybe a little more for inflation.
  25. First trade with Houston for the new GM. Wondered if there would be a few players he went after. He doesn't appear to have much power, although his SLG% has increased as he went along. He takes a few walks, but nothing exciting. My guess is short term SS and utility guy after they go to Arcia. Maybe they'll try him at 3rd, but he's doesn't appear to be the type of guy that would automatically be penciled in.
