  1. Hoped Arcia was turning a corner with his game last night but that swinging 3rd strike at that trash was not a great sign.
  2. Good to see Keon contributing with his chance back up.
  3. Smart move by Braun especially leading off the inning.
  4. I will say I wasn't really in love with any of the guys we gave up in the Yelich trade, but it would be really, really hard for me to see either of Hiura or Peralta go. And I would expect both to be gone if something got done for either Met ace.
  5. When #Brewers GM David Sterns was asked about potentially adding a starting pitcher: "For us to go out and trade some young talent potentially to acquire a starting pitcher it's not really going to be to add to that depth, it would be a guy that we think could lead the rotation." Obviously this doesn't flat out say 'DeGrom' or 'Syndergaard' but you'd obviously have to think he isn't talking about Cole Hamels here.
  6. That seems like a pretty fair top offer to me. I'd probably be willing to substitute Woodruff for Ortiz if desired by the Orioles because of who else we have in the wings besides Ortiz with Peralta and Burnes. It's still a lot for a rental, (Machado isn't getting sold at a JD Martinez price), but I agree its possibly a huge needle mover especially when you look at our existing options at SS. You look at what the Cubs paid to rent Chapman in 2016 (Torres+), Machado isn't going to cost that much, and could possibly have the same or more impact.
  7. I would guess people are speaking more on odds, that over 162 games the Cubs are probably still a better team than us. Yes, we could get hot in the playoffs and win a World Series this year, it is not impossible. It's also possible we could do that with who we have now and Keston Hiura hits .400 in the playoffs. Just because it *could* be our year isn't necessarily a good argument for 'we need to go get DeGrom.'
  8. Aguilar is kind of at that point where he just isn't going to be traded because no one is going to give up a star type return for him and we'd be foolish to trade him for a modest return now after the revelation he has been. Braun because of his contract and NTC is very unlikely to be traded. That leaves Thames as the most likely candidate to be traded. That's a tough call. Thames brings a lot to the table offensively when healthy. I would not give him away, certainly.
  9. Not sure what you mean. Braun can't be optioned like Santana so that was never an option anyway. All 3 of them have had DL stints this year. This just happens to be the situation right now.
  10. You could tell he was just appalled that someone as much of a low class baseball nobody as Erik Kratz would dare even say anything to the great Joey Votto.
  11. Kind of odd that he would let Williams face Votto but not Gennett.
  12. No one ever didn't. I like Thames a lot. Simply said after his last AB that he needed to step up. He stepped up. What's not to like? Edit: Ok someone sort of did. Never mind.
  13. I'm not giving up on him. Far from it. Just saying he really needs to step it up. This offense even at full strength is very inconsistent and now with the walking wounded, someone like Thames really needs to step it up.
  14. Thames needs to step it up with all the injuries. Has not looked good either offensively nor defensively.
  15. Yeah, you getting on everyone's case every game when you don't like something they post and the constant sarcasm and 'you guys must be a thrill ride at parties' and similar putdowns has been so much more enjoyable.
  16. Can you please not, it's such a cop-out Why do you insist on telling everyone how to conduct themselves in a game thread? It's great that you're able to remain optimistic even when things aren't going well. Not everyone is that way. Some people get frustrated and vent. Happens. Worse things than doing it on a message board.
  17. Don't know how Barnhart doesn't end up on at least 3rd on that.
  18. If he didn't get the call over a 35 year old with a career ERA north of 7 and 6.5 BB/9, my guess would be never.
  19. Looking at his numbers I'm kind of in awe that this guy has managed to get to throw 75+ innings at the big league level.
  20. Um, holy cow. I get that we like to constantly recycle and throw away the 39th and 40th spot on our 40 man roster, but we shouldn't do it with the 24th and 25th spot on our 25. Cripes, give the poor Nick Ramirez guy a shot already. If I were a journeyman minor leaguer with no MLB experience I would not want to get anywhere near the Brewer organization after seeing how frequently those types get chances here.
