  1. I really don't think Counsell just had some revelation about Aguilar this week. Aguilar has basically been a regular in the lineup since the beginning of May.
  2. I agree that Braun probably should have went on the DL, this team's management of the 10 day has been pretty silly this year. That said, it shouldn't ever really be a surprise to see him out of the lineup anymore. With our current healthy personnel he is pretty much a bench player, is he not?
  3. Don't feel picked on, Jericho. The Cards hit everybody, wild pitch to everybody, walk everything. It's the new Cardinal Way. I know you're a Cardinal fan, but you're impossible to dislike.
  4. By the way the knitting fan is Mary Alice Eisch and she crochets blankets for sick and needy babies, if that helps you feel better about it if you ever see it again.
  5. I mean I somewhat agree. Braun hasn't been bad. But that's part of the reason I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to make a move now, if you still can. If he gets bad, it's definitely too late. And I think we can stop calling Aguilar hot, he's just a really good hitter at this point. Is he going to sustain his .975 OPS, no probably not, but we're kind of at the point where he should rightfully be in the lineup daily.
  6. Just watched the replay of Aguilar's first HR. At the end of it you can see Flaherty with his glove up to his mouth just screaming expletive after expletive. LOL
  7. Honestly Braun is in a tough spot right now. He's obviously not going to play over Aguilar at this time and he's really not going to play over Thames against RHP. Santana is a total non-factor and Braun is still kind of on the verge of getting wedged out. Depth is good, I get that, but having your highest paid player on your bench when you're at full strength for the next 2.5 years is probably not the most ideal thing ever. I don't know what the Dodgers OF situation looks like off the top of my head but I wonder if they'd still have any interest. Who do they got, Bellinger, Kemp, Puig?
  8. So a guy comes into a 3-3 game, doesn't have it, gives up 4 straight hits, and you have to leave him get shelled till he gets 3 outs???? That's not baseball and I'd have zero interest in watching it. Yeah I would agree. It's also unsafe, there might be nights you'd be throwing a guy 60-70 pitches to get those 3 outs. I get that people hate situational relief pitching but to me it's just a part of the game now and isn't going anywhere. To me, baseball is trying a little too hard to make itself appeal to the next generation. People who love baseball love the game for what it is and all its nuances and will continue to do so regardless of game length. People who don't appreciate baseball and find it boring aren't going to feel any differently after a few tweaks that make games 10 minutes shorter. Just my thoughts.
  9. Agree with those who cite going to Hader in the 6th as a crucial moment in the game. Was great to see Counsell do that. I don't see him making that move back in April.
  10. I guess, I mean if you're just going by overall prospect ranking. I'll just make 2 points on it: 1) Some here preferred Diaz to Hiura at the time as our 2B of the future. 2) If Hiura and Diaz had been swapped out in the deal -- I don't think it would have been shocking.
  11. Totally unnecessary. Lol oh stop it. Just stop it. Lol getting a bit ridiculous are we? It was totally a joke and you know it. I like how you got all mad a few days ago for basically nothing in one of the main threads and said I was attacking you. I even said, "Sorry, didn't think it was a big deal." But when the shoe is on the other foot you're always "just joking". K. Joke on, then.
  12. Getting one measly hit so they can't celebrate a no-no on our field is no moral victory to me. We can still win this thing. [sarcasm]No crap Sherlock.[/sarcasm] Totally unnecessary.
  13. How about score a couple runs? Not even on my radar until they get a hit. Getting one measly hit so they can't celebrate a no-no on our field is no moral victory to me. We can still win this thing.
  14. No way would the Brewers have simply switched Hiura out for Diaz. Their value is no where close to the same. Yes, it was. I mean no obviously not now but heading into 2018 Pipeline had Hiura as the #3 second baseman prospect in all of baseball. Diaz was #4.
  15. The fact that the Nationals said no to those guys tells you it's unlikely another team gives up a top 30 or 40 prospect for Realmuto. I'm not sure we'd need to include a package led by Peralta to get a deal done...could get it done with Burnes+. I would expect the Marlins to ask for a package led by Soto or Robles and I would expect the Nationals to say no. Don't think it means much. The Marlins wanted Acuna for Yelich. Also not sure whether Burnes or Peralta would be the preferred prospect by most potential trade partners. Burnes is still, technically, the higher rated prospect. I'm sure these guys have their internal preferences depending on the team although I suppose it's pretty much league-wide consensus that Hiura is our top prospect.
  16. Sometimes I wonder how often line umpires are completely daydreaming on a check swing and are forced to just guess in the moment, which it it happens is pretty embarrassing for them. If you've sat anywhere down even in the outfield seats you know it is not at all difficult to tell if a batter obviously offered or obviously didn't.
  17. I don't think they quite did him justice. Maybe they are looking for a bit more track record, but he's a better prospect than most of the names outside the top 10. Heck there are 3 pitchers that are out for the season with injuries ahead of him...and of course there's a significant chance they don't come back the same from the injuries. On a side note, why aren't the Astros trying Kyle Tucker at 1b? Is that a Khris Davis situation where he just sucks there? If he worked out at 1b temporarily, that fills a glaring hole in not only adding production at 1b...but adding balance with a LH bat. I haven't went over it in detail but at first glance it seems like a really lazy update. They basically skyrocketed a few big names like Soto and little else. Hiura went up a couple spots where he almost was anyway after all the graduations, and Burnes basically stood pat at #60. To not have Freddy Peralta as a top 100 is just inattention. There's no way you can convince me he's not a top 100 with his AAA numbers, stuff, and 3 big league starts if he's got a Yankees or Red Sox jersey on.
  18. Isan Diaz was probably the toughest one for me to see go, but IMO Hiura has distanced himself far and away as the better 2B prospect. Diaz has decent enough tools, but the bust possibility is real, whereas Hiura has an already very MLB ready tool in his bat. Now imagine just a simple change to that trade, Hiura gone instead of Diaz and it doesn't look nearly as good.
  19. So Thames is basically our everyday leadoff man now? I mean it's not that big of a deal to me I guess. Me personally if you're going to do that I would probably go Thames/Cain/Yelich/Aguilar/Shaw if nothing else than to split up all your lefty bats.
