  1. Brad Miller continues to show he isn't the present or future at SS. Glad they sent him to AAA to prove how horrible he is there. I actually would love if the Brewers give up any hope of him playing SS and just have Miller replace Sogard on the roster. The Brewers can just do what they did yesterday with Perez at SS until/if they get an actual upgrade at SS. What's funny about this is that Perez has extremely similar career defensive numbers to Miller, with Miller being superior in some metrics like UZR/150. Yet no one is freaking out about Perez playing SS.
  2. I think the hot takes after one good/bad start either way are probably getting to be a bit much. We had a Wade Miley apology thread after one single Miley start.
  3. It's just kind of a silly time of year for rumors, and I would agree with Trwi that trying to predict what Stearns will or won't do is a fool's errand at this point. Reports mean little, the same reports had us sending Braun for Kemp in the offseason. You constantly see 'reports', the latest ones saying the Brewers will heavily target starting pitching but not Machado. I doubt anyone really knows. I don't expect us to heavily pursue Machado if the price is too much, but I do expect us to at least do our due diligence on it and keep an eye on his trade market and gauge if an offer makes sense. I would caution against using the JD Martinez or any rental from last year as a baseline expectation for Machado's market, though. Every market is different. I really have no idea what he will cost, but if I had to venture a guess I would bet it will be a lot closer to a Yu Darvish return than a JD Martinez return. Maybe more than a Yu Darvish return.
  4. Saving $2M would not have been a bad thing but there are other options if they want to look internally at filling that role. Ramirez and Torres-Costa come to mind. Wang just isn't very good. He is/was a completely different pitcher stuff-wise than the guy we took a chance on in the Rule 5 years ago.
  5. Thames should play somewhere anytime a RHP is starting, no exceptions. Santana honestly should be optioned. There really is no point in him being here right now.
  6. 9 runs and you can't win. Now managing the pen like a simp looks even worse.
  7. Would have been great of Pina or Braun to have gotten on for that.
  8. Aguilar having a pretty nice day, all things considered. You put up 6 runs when Nola is pitching you expect to win. Not why we lost but Counsell pretty poorly managed the pitching staff this series.
  9. Well that was helpful Shaw. He put a fastball right in your wheelhouse too.
  10. Nick Ramirez was promoted to AAA. Could mean something, could mean nothing, but overdue IMO.
  11. Our very own Maas brought up a very good point on Twitter. He said as long as Counsell continues to refuse to use Hader with any deficit, he'll continue to pitch every 4-5 days. I've been on the bullpen Hader bandwagon for a long time but his usage schedule makes it totally pointless not to be starting him.
  12. Very disappointing series. Every time this offense gets something today, the pitching gives it right back.
  13. Kapler holds up his hand for everything. He was obviously safe.
  14. Good hit Manny. Last time would have been better, but we'll take it.
  15. Would be pretty disappointing to lose this series and tie the season series vs. Philly with how much we've outscored them. Its all fun and laughs to erupt for 12-13 runs in 3 games but those 3 other close losses still all count for the same.
  16. Just really disappointed in Counsell's decision making with the pitching this series. Obviously, Jeffress hasn't done his part to bail him out.
  17. Might be too late. With how quick the starter hooks are and how Chase has looked today I'm surprised he started the inning.
  18. Why is Chase still in a tie game in the 6th on a day he clearly doesn't have it and the pen is rested? Just, why?
  19. "Hey Hader, Knebel, we've got you guys scheduled for TJ surgery. What's that? No, you don't need it but we need to just get this done for you and find out what we really have in you guys."
  20. If Yelich doesn't have that card knocked out the call probably can't be overturned. Just can't catch a damn break today.
  21. Nola is getting every borderline call today. Chase, the opposite.
