  1. I know that Woodruff injury thing sucked for him, but he probably made a ton of extra money off the unfortunate circumstances. So there's a silver lining there, Bill.
  2. The 1982 team is the point of this weekend. I get that. I was at the game yesterday. Great ceremony, but as some pointed out yesterday, no one makes a bigger deal about losing a World Series than we do. It reminds me of a kid I was friends with back in grade school who insisted that Rocky won in the original Rocky movie.
  3. If it was Travis Shaw at the plate, who apparently has insulted the umpire's mother at some point in the past, you can bet it would have been.
  4. - Walks more than he strikes out - FIP over 6 (coming into today, who knows what it is now) That's the guy you turn to in the 6th in a 1 run game with 8 options in your pen. Scahill should not be on an MLB roster, and if he is it should never, ever be in anything other than mop up duty.
  5. A 2-1 game and Scahill and Webb are your first arms in. I just don't get it. Pitching change with the bases loaded and nobody out. Hughes to try to get a ground ball? Hader to try to get a couple K's? No, let's go with the career AAA lefty with 6 career innings making his Brewer debut. Makes sense.
  6. Scahill is absolute junk. Blazek having options was a poor reason to keep this guy up. At this point in the season in contention, just keep your best arms.
  7. That's not the first time I've seen Villar hold up his arms like that retreating to 1st after a big turn. Why does he do that? "Please just don't throw it, I'll go back to 1st?"
  8. It's obviously going to be a better atmosphere when you're winning, but you can see how positive of an influence Counsell is for the clubhouse environment.
  9. Tip for deadline buyers. If you want starting pitching help, don't look at the Orioles .
  10. I'm torn on Gray. If you think he can make a significant difference and the price is right, it's fine by me. But don't do it just for the sake of making a big move. If you like 5 of Nelson, Anderson, Guerra, Davies, Woodruff, Suter, and Garza and don't see Gray as a major upgrade, there's no reason to do it.
  11. That was a Henry Roingarner inning for Barnes. Two walks and two laser beams.
  12. I just love our bullpen just doing all the work for the opposing team by walking guys on for free.
  13. With 2 out? Oh yeah. He's at least halfway between 2nd and 3rd by the time the ball hit the wall.
  14. Walks and wild pitches are going to hurt you. Need to get some runs.
  15. He is literally almost the exact same pitcher home or away for his career, which is a lot more meaningful and telling than his 2017 splits.
  16. The Tigers want a big return without eating any contract. They won't get that, but they are wanting a premium return for him. He's been a franchise player for them for more than a decade, and they're not looking to give him away, just like we haven't been looking to give Braun away even when rebuilding. Verlander's contract, NTC, recent production, age, and value put on him by the Tigers make him a very poor trade match for anyone let alone us.
  17. The Rangers are 2 games out of the WC. They're not just going to give Darvish away. Maybe not a Quintana price, but still significant prospects for a rental which is not a business Stearns wants to be in.
  18. Is the number we are using including the 1 from the last game last season, or no?
