  1. Yeah, really hate to hear the Brewers announcers sticking up for the Brewers players.... I'm just saying, he's making it sound like the worst call in the world when it's not even the worst call in the game and he constantly harps on the "too close to take" on pitches that are off the plate but now, somehow, it's different. Like umpires, be consistent. If you're going to say it's too close to take for an opponent, then it's too close for Shaw to take. I totally agree with what he said after Shaw 'struck out.' I also totally agree that Bill needs to quit whining about close 3-2 pitches being too close to take when they're balls and it makes him look ridiculous now.
  2. Nice to see us really showing the rally fight.
  3. Please replace these egotical pieces of crap in blue with machines already.
  4. Heard that two weeks ago. Take a breather people. I think we're perfectly capable of not collapsing -- hopefully. The problem is going to be that the Cubs are much, much more capable than they played in the first half, particularly now with Quintana.
  5. He's safe . Not a smart move by Perez, you need to at least get the lead man. Can't risk allowing a runner into scoring position and falling further behind .
  6. Thames has been terrible since April. I hate to even think where we would be without Shaw, he's definitely our MVP. Santana and Braun hit well enough but there's no one other than Shaw capable of carrying our offense.
  7. For how much we like to think of our squad as a 'we never quit' bunch of battlers, we seem generally pretty useless trying to battle back once trailing in the late innings.
  8. LOL. Nice work, Drake. I don't have the stats in front of me, but I can't imagine there is a team in baseball that blows more leads than we do.
  9. Right down the middle with no movement. Yeah, they'll hit that.
  10. Cardinals are starting to pick it up too. If we don't start taking some of these divisional games we're going to be in trouble quickly.
  11. On Gameday it's looked like a really small zone tonight both ways.
  12. That's dumb. They can review whether or not a player gets hit by a pitch, but can't review if he gets hit by a batted ball?
  13. What happened? All Gameday said is Santana was out from getting hit by a batted ball. And yes Shaw is awesome . It went between his legs but the 2nd base umpire said it hit him. Not reviewable? Or just not conclusive on review?
  14. What happened? All Gameday said is Santana was out from getting hit by a batted ball. And yes Shaw is awesome .
  15. Awful at bat by Broxton. Promising inning wasted.
  16. With what? Schwarber? Also kind of hilarious that the article says, 'The Cubs are not giving up Schwarber or Heyward .'
  17. The Astros didn't much care for Villar's reckless style which is why they were willing to deal him for 50 cents on the dollar in the first place. Don't think they'd be willing to have him back for a premium, especially when having a poor year. I would think they'd be a lot more interested in Sogard as a bandaid if he were healthy, but not for a premium price.
  18. i think thats the point, i don't don't think Neshek would cost a top prospect and would be more of a salary dump for the phils. Maybe something similar to what the brewers got for Aaron Hill last season. Not even remotely a chance IMO. If we could have Neshek for Wendell Rijo and Aaron Wilkerson, Neshek would be a Brewer by now.
  19. Everything that has happened since the break indicates to me that reality catching up in the division is imminent. That said, it's not the first time this year I've felt that way only for them to recover, so I hope I'm wrong again. Looks like the Cubs will again trim a game off our lead tonight.
  20. Torres was nowhere near the best pen arm on the market, Nehek may be. Simple supply and demand dictate he'll command much better than a fringe prospect. I have no idea if he'll get a name from a subjective top 100 list or not, but the idea that we can just stroll in and offer Medeiros and Monte Harrison and call it a day is a pipe dream. There are plenty of contenders that can and will trump that offer for the top available reliever. My guess is it takes a Diaz, Erceg, Dubon or Clark type prospect as a headliner. Maybe better.
  21. Probably all in my head but I felt the freefall starting yesterday. You could call it a free fall or you could call it winning 2 of 4 games on the road in July. Could have sworn I was at Miller Park for the win on Saturday.
  22. Down with a whimper, like we typically go trailing in the 9th. That division lead is going to evaporate in a hurry if we can't start figuring the Pirates out. Marte back tomorrow too.
  23. Does Cervilli not know, like, the rules? Whether or not a pitch is caught has nothing to do with where it crosses the plate . I'm actually impressed the ump called the pitch correctly even though it was dropped.
  24. Bullpen seemed to be doing much better before Rob Scahill and Tyler Webb became a part of it.
  25. And now it's definitely over. You're a real star, Webb.
