  1. Nice find, my source must have been outdated. My mistake. Guess it's alresdy been shattered.
  2. The NL record for strikeouts in a 9 inning game is 30. Might shatter that tonight.
  3. I've enjoyed the Jimmy Nelson we've seen lately. I hope he's here to stay!
  4. Perez at least needs to keep that in front of him. No reason that should have been a double.
  5. Run your lazy butt over to 1st and at least make him throw it, Jesus. I hate it when hitters just hang their head and walk back to the dugout.
  6. So is Jimmy... True enough...we'll see who gets in trouble first. My point was though that the 1st inning may end up being our only shot at getting to Kershaw.
  7. So, there doesn't seem to be much talk about it, or maybe I just missed it, but are the Brewers trying to stretch Blazek out and make him into a starter? He's been quietly very effective in that role.
  8. We had our shot to get to Kershaw in the 1st. Now he's totally dialed in.
  9. Going to have to keep expectations low for this Nelson vs. Kershaw AB. I'll give him a 25% shot of putting it in play.
  10. Meh 'hell' is pretty mild as far as profanities go. If it's acceptable on Brewerfan it's acceptable on TV.
  11. Kershaw gets #2000 on a swinging strike at Villar's neck.
  12. Wow Santana. Our RISP struggles continue. Broxton leads off with a double and never moves. A quick 0 for 3 and it's been one inning. Can't afford to blow scoring chances against Kershaw.
  13. Ugh. C'mon Perez, make him pay, can't let him off the hook here.
  14. No Brewer in the lineup has ever faced Kershaw. That's crazy, Kershaw is not exactly a young pitcher.
  15. You throw out a trade idea that would make any GM a complete idiot to hold on to Kneble. Its about what it cost to get Chapman as a rental for the Cubs. Problem is Robles wouldnt fit Milwaukee, so I would turn it down to the effects of finding a 3rd team to trade Robles to, and get a player who'd fit Milws needs. Everyone has a price, when they will be traded for Golden Tickets but, where this team is already at, that is what it must take for me to trade Kneble this early in his career. As theres a huge need for a player of his potential. I'm not trying to make fun of you, but in your first sentence you say 'that would make any GM an idiot (to not trade Knebel for Robles), then in the very next sentence you say 'I would turn it down.' I agree with your first instinct. It would be utter insanity to turn that down. If you get offered a top 5 prospect for Corey Knebel you take it regardless of the position. Value is value. It's not like Robles wouldn't be tradeable later if you wanted to go down that road.
  16. +1 on that. Surprise player is Sogard. Who saw that coming?! .410/.566/.667 Edited to add: if Sogard went 3 for his next 30 with zero walks he'd still be hitting .275 with a .395 OBP (!) Sogard has been an amazing story but at this point in the season if I gotta award surprise player I'd give it to the KBO veteran with 166 ABs and a 1.000+ OPS rather than the guy with 39.
  17. Sorry, that was meant to be SB, not RBI. Fixed. That said since you mentioned it I was kind of amazed to see that Villar is on pace for 72 RBI despite sucking this year and leading off all year so far. That would be 9 more than last year.
  18. Actual results: (so far) Brewers record: 29-25 Playoffs: YES Brewers MVP: Thames Brewers Cy Young: Gotta be Chase Anderson, right? Brewers Rookie of the Year: Who is even eligible? Espino, Suter, and Barnes? So it'd have to be Barnes. First player traded: Magnifico Surprise player: Thames Disappointing player: Villar World Series: Astros over??
  19. I'm proud to say that it would take an absolute nose dive for the Brewers to get what I predicted. I'm fine with being woefully wrong. Hey, your 'surprise player' prediction is looking good.
  20. I wonder if a team like the Rockies would 'block' the Dodgers to avoid them putting in a claim, assuming he'd turn down coming to Colorado. That would be very risky, though. Maybe too risky.
  21. He's fanned 71 times in 166 ABs. The point is his production is more likely to fall off than it is to increase. Why? Based on what? If he cuts down on his K's, his production would get better, not worse. He's still not hitting nearly as well as he did in the 2nd half of last year nor hitting balls as hard. He had a terribly slow start and then a hot few weeks and since then it's been pretty even, some good some bad. There's nothing about Broxton's season so far that screams unsustainable . He needs to get his defense up to elite level again and draw a few more walks. If he does that we have a 18 HR/30 SB guy with .340-.350 OBP ability or so and an elite glove in center and have no need to think about replacing him. If we get a great trade offer for him and want to take it, that's fine. In the meantime let things play out with our AAA outfield prospects but there's absolutely no rush to relegate Broxton to the bench in favor of Brinson.
