  1. As an opposing fan this is true (although Braun's actions went beyond just PED use). As a fan of the Brewers, Bastardo, Cirvelli, and Byrd haven't cheated $105M from my organization so I'm less inclined to be mad at them.
  2. Wes Helms has to be one of my least favorite Brewers of all time. I just hated watching him play. For the life of me I still can't understand why Wes Helms was somehow higher than any other Brewer in deserving to get booed. For one thing he wasn't THAT bad. He never had a year here with an OBP under .330; yeah he was a butcher at 3rd, but it's not like he wasn't trying. He only made about $5M here total in 3 years, it's not like he robbed the franchise blind. We've had worse players and worse contracts come through Milwaukee. By all accounts of the coaches he worked with in Milwaukee, he did try hard. He never once badmouthed the franchise or said anything bad about the fans. He helped us into the playoffs on the last day of the season in 2008. Someone please explain to me why Wes Helms deserved so much to be booed but a guy who literally cheated the franchise out of $110 million dollars apparently does not. I've heard countless people say they hated Helms and booed him; not one has ever been able to give a legitimate reason as to why. If it's simply that he showed up to camp out of shape, he certainly wasn't the first or last. He did give effort on the field. Yost even said he had to lock him out of batting cages because he was trying TOO hard. Most folks here seem to be reasonable when it comes to booing, putting a human perspective on things and realizing these guys are people and out there doing their best, and for most of us, that's good enough not to boo a guy. Yet when it comes to Helms, the gloves come off and none of that matters anymore. It's very weird to me.
  3. Just my opinion , but I don't think a lack of bunting is or has ever been a problem under Roenicke. Khris Davis has 0 successful sacrifices in his career. The one thing he does well is drive the ball. I'd be pretty upset if they had him try to sac bunt (probably unsuccessfully) with the weak hitting Parra on deck.
  4. On the plus side, I have to say we are very consistent. No losing 8-1 one day and then a 4-3 squeaker the next. Every day is a pretty solid loss.
  5. Poor Hank is probably wondering why the Packers couldn't have adopted him instead.
  6. Rock is delusional. Scooter was a dead duck if Harrison didn't drop the ball.
  7. It can be therapeutic, if done the right way. Anyway, right now, there's not much they can do to change this team. I'm glad they got Rogers up, they can get Clark up but the bench isn't going to save them, and 1B hasn't been the problem. They pretty much have to stay the course with this roster until this summer and just hope things turn around, and prepare for a fire sale and rebuild if they don't, because they're not trending in a direction where they are going to improve the team next year. They can try an early-season firing of Roenicke to see if it has some sort of jump-start effect, but I doubt it. That said, I wouldn't wait until next season to start the next managerial search. I'd like to see if there is an interim guy who can at least get these guys to play more disciplined baseball.
  8. Remember how ticked Mark A was after last season? Yeah, I'd like to be a fly on the wall for a conversation between him and Melvin/Roenicke/etc. right now.
  9. Worst record in baseball, last in runs scored in MLB, have allowed most runs in MLB. By every possible definition we have the worst team in baseball right now.
  10. This team is just a mess. It was easier to take these stretches 8 years ago when you at least knew there was hope for the future. This team just doesn't have much hope for the future.
  11. The hatred that the league has for Braun might be worth 50 points on his OBP this year, especially if all our games are over by the 6th.
  12. My wife wants Carlos Gomez bobble head day tickets (June 14th) for our anniversary present thus year. At the rate we're going I should be able to snag them for a couple bucks off Stubhub by next month.
  13. I am not the biggest fan of blaming coaches, but just the approach to hitting is brutal on this team. Even the guys hitting well are having horrible at bats in general. I don't necessarily blame him, (not that I would be sorry to see him canned already), but I don't think Narron was the problem here. The problems seem to go deeper, but we're even worse off now than last year. The approach as you said is dreadful, and they just seem to be completely lost.
  14. I wonder what the modern day record is for shortest tenure by a hitting coach before being fired.
  15. Logan Schafer has to be one of the worst players in the bigs. There are guys who have toiled in AAA for 10 years never getting a cup of coffee in MLB that would have been better options to get a shot than him.
  16. Gary Sheffield for sure and deservedly so. Wes Helms definitely did but I never really understood why. There have been a million others like him who didn't live up to the contract they signed.
  17. I don't think it's good business to consider anyone on your team untouchable, particularly for a rebuilding team. That just shuts out potential opportunities. Peralta is under control for 3 more years after this one. I'm not sure that 3 years is enough time for us to even be competitive again anyway. You don't WANT to sell a guy like Nelson, and obviously even in a fire sale, you're not looking to do so, but like I said, I would never say never and close the door on an option. What if we were being offered 4 top 25 prospects for Gomez and Nelson, and they insisted Nelson be part of the trade? Good point. I suppose I should have said that Peralta & Nelson would be the 2 players I'd least like to see traded. Absolutely, agree 100%. I wouldn't dangle them out there - I'd just prefer to stay open minded about any offer, you never know. But it would be hard to part with either after how much we've struggled to develop good pitching -- I had a very hard time seeing us part with Yo (even though I believe it was the right thing). That said, I'm not sold on Nelson as a future ace yet, I think he probably projects more as a middle of the rotation guy. Not that there isn't good value in that, it's likely $10M or so a year that you're not having to invest in a same caliber free agent.

What if we were being offered 4 top 25 prospects for Gomez and Nelson, and they insisted Nelson be part of the trade? Why can't Wily be signed to an extension...? Why does everyone on here just assume that after arbitration these players are going to dart? Khris Davis and Wily Peralta can both be had for pretty cheap if they get some insurance. Segura might be willing to sign an extension now you never know. Also that is such a stupid example. Don't "what if" something so ridiculously dumb...obviously they would do that, but it would never happen. Wily could be signed to an extension and that would be a good option, I never said otherwise. I was simply pointing out that it doesn't pay to shut the door on other opportunities. By the way, do not ever again attack my ideas as "stupid" or "ridiculously dumb". Many blockbuster trades would have sounded out there and crazy until they actually came to fruition, and whether or not the proper mix of prospects is "3 or 4" or "top 25" or "top 50" was not the point of the comment.

  20. Lol...only the Brewers would nearly make the final out of the game at home in a 4 run game.
  21. So how does the 2016 draft look? Deep? Future elites in the top 5?
  22. They've already dug themselves a deep enough hole to where winning 85 games would require 14 over .500 ball from here on out, or 83-69. This team is not 2-8 bad but they are most definitely not 83-69 good.
  23. I wonder if Braun is cool with having cheated this organization out of 105 million dollars.
