  1. I doubt the Brewers coaches, management or players will share this view. This division was just laying there to be grabbed....Reds, Cards and Pirates all had huge injuries... and they still threw away the division and probably the playoffs with a lethal combination of bad pitching, horrible hitting and poor defense. I agree. You can't just shrug your shoulders about a stretch like this just because of pre-season expectations. Things change and evolve as the season goes on. They had the division in their grasp and they blew it. Just because they weren't the favorites to win the division in March doesn't make that okay.
  2. Maybe we should lower the bar. Let's just shoot for one win the rest of the season.
  3. Braun sucks. We pay the guy to be our star, and he's been nothing but a choke artist lately.
  4. I'm not normally a defender of Roenicke but, You've got the bases loaded with 2 out and have been struggling to score runs. Lohse has not pitched particularly well today anyway. You've got expanded rosters with plenty of extra help. It was a no-brainer to make the move for the PH in potentially a decisive moment of the game. I think he was being sarcastic/showing surprise that Roenicke deviated from his normal routine. Doh. Don't know how I missed that.

  6. My brother worked for the Timber Rattlers a few years ago. He met Seid one time and that he was just the nicest guy you'd ever meet. Said he took a good 15 minutes to spend with him and talk baseball and have a beer with him -- was just completely down to earth.
  7. One start with 2 ABs and we're afraid to start Matt Clark again already? Seriously, do something different with this lineup already.
  8. Maybe we can hang up a banner that says "2014 Brewers: We were in 1st place for a long time"
  9. Remember back in May and June when there basically two schools of thought on keeping Wang? One camp said "I really don't like us going with basically 6 relievers since we can't use one. Thornburg, K-Rod, and Smith are throwing a ton of innings. We might get in trouble later in the year when all the pitches and innings catch up to them." The other camp said, "Quit worrying about the bullpen. They're pitching great. No need to worry. We have the best record in baseball and we can use a spot on a developmental reliever. We'll worry about August and September when we cross that bridge." Yeah.
  10. The Pirates lost 7 in a row in early or mid August I believe and the Pirates again just lost 3 straight to the Cardinals. So your first statement is false. Roenicke has about a .001% chance of being fired even if the team loses every game this month. I'm sure he meant at the time, not this entire season. If the Brewers lost every game in September I think you could pretty much bank on Roenicke being fired. They would finish at 73-89, 16 games under .500 after being as high as I believe 19 games over. It would be one of the biggest collapses in MLB history, and without looking it up, probably the longest losing streak in MLB history. This after having the losingest month in franchise history last year. If you don't think that would get him fired, I don't know what to tell you. It certainly wouldn't be a ".001%" chance.
  11. Record aside, this is the worst team in baseball right now.
  12. They just fold like cheap lawn chairs when they feel the heat. It's sad to say, but the Cardinals are to MLB what the Packers are to the NFL, and the Brewers are to MLB what the Lions are to the NFL. They believe they will get it done in the end, and they do. We usually break hearts in the end, one way or another.
  13. Finally got a rally going, down multiple runs, let's go make an out on the bases and kill the rally. BRILLIANT!
  14. So what's our magic number again?
  15. Clark is a journeyman without 1 major league at bat. Exciting news for him I'm sure, especially since he might actually get the chance to contribute. Considering how awful our 1B options are, I wish he would get a chance to get some starts at 1st, but I'm betting that Roenicke wouldn't dare.
  16. That had to be in the NL Central, there's no way they have the worst record in the NL since their hot start. The Rockies were 16-12 at that point and are now 28 games under .500.
  17. It made for really entertaining post game pressers, though.
  18. The Pujols beaning incident aside, Yost gets remembered in a lot worse light here than he probably should be. I realize there were some baffling bullpen decisions -- he was here for what, 6 years? That's a 1,000 game stretch. I'd be willing to bet that anyone who manages 9,000+ innings is bound to make a few decisions that look like head scratchers to most folks.
  19. No shame in being no-hit by Jake Peavy. Assuming it's sometime between 2005 and 2007, of course.
  20. Nothing irks me more as a Brewer fan than when we have a man on third with nobody out and manage to lay a big egg and can't even get a productive out.
  21. Matt Clark now has 13 HR's in 169 AB's in Nashville, hitting .325 with a .993 OPS. I don't care how hitter-friendly or pitcher-friendly the league is, that's impressive. Not saying he needs to be starting, but come on, the guy has paid his dues at the minor league level. Give him a cup of coffee up in Milwaukee, he's earned it.
  22. I am really starting to loathe Braun.
  23. 36th of 57 qualifying outfielders in WAR. Last among ours. OPS dipping near .800. His season is disappointing and his contract extension may end up being devastating.
  24. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Clark is the next Joey Votto. But regardless of the park effects I would agree with the poster who finds it surprising that a 27 year old first baseman who has been in AAA/Japan since 2011 and has not OPS'ed less than .861 in AAA has never even gotten a single AB at the major league level. Surely there are less productive hitters that have gotten a cup of coffee in MLB.
