Michael Brantley leads the Indians in homers and RBI's, and sports an OPS well north of .900. :D I'm not completely sure of this, but I'm pretty certain that Lucroy was a PTBNL option for the Indians in that trade too. So at least they didn't go that route.

Yeah I've never heard anyone wanting Nelson to replace Garza. That would be pretty insane 2 1/2 months into the biggest free agent deal in franchise history.

That wasn't my point at all. My point is that we could have avoided the situation by just going one reliever down rather than risking his health. Which would probably have been a better option.

So if Will Smith, when he had to go in to a game cold earlier this season, had gone up to the homeplate umpire and made some comment about his mother and purposely gotten himself tossed, they could have just put in Duke with as much time to warm up as needed?

At what point does Nelson replace Estrada?

Braun was brought up in late May in 2007 and ended up missing the Super 2 cutoff. Unless the language in the CBA has changed since then, you'd think that late June would be safe for Nelson. -
There's just not a match here. That's just too much salary to take on for a 35 year old, and even if we do scrape up an offer for him, it would probably have to be centered around Nelson to even be considered. Just not a good move for us. The Phillies have no use for aging vets like Lohse, Weeks, and Ramirez, and we'd never be so foolish as to give up a top MLB talent like Gomez or Lucroy. All I'm looking to see happen is to get Nelson up to the rotation this summer and see what we might be able to add for a bat at 1st at the deadline.

I don't totally agree, I think it's important to stand up for your team, but there's a time and place (just don't ask Ned Yost what that time and place is). FWIW I think the call might have been to walk Braun there anyway. First base was open and you set up the double play with 1 out in a 1 run game. Gibson is a tool, but I have to think that's probably the right call there to put him on anyway. Looks bad in hindsight obviously but get a ground ball and you're out of the inning.

They were 20-7 before May. They are a .500 team since then (about 7 weeks),which I think is a lot more indicative of what they really are than 20-7 did. If you told me today that they would lose the division lead but still get the 2nd wild card at the end of the season, I would take it.

What's the over/under for how many HR's Estrada will give up in his next outing at Coors Field? I'll say 4.
