  1. I never understood the contempt for Lucroy over the whole trade deadline debacle in 2016. Cleveland was on his no-trade clause list and he had every contractual right to deny a trade there. Sounds like if he would have been approached in a more professional and open manner by Stearns about it, the trade might have happened.
  2. I like Mitchell, a lot. I think his speed and defense is a great fit for what we do, and I think he’s going to give us more power than what we’ve seen so far this year. If he could get that K rate down to the 25-27% range, I think he could be an All-Star level player. As it is, if he stays heathy and plays a full season, I still think he’ll be a 2.5-3 WAR type player. I think it’s fair to point out that if you can’t get your K rate to a manageable level, it can derail a career quickly like it did for Keon Broxton and Keston Hiura, who were very good at other things but just couldn’t get their K rates under control. Mike Cameron is a good comp but he was 24.1% for his career. If Garrett could get to that he’d be an amazing player and I’d love to see it.

  4. This game for me was lost today when Frelick came up with 1 out and two runners in scoring position and promptly popped up. We need better out of Sal. That’s one of the main things holding the offense back.
  5. 15 years from now we may have a thread about the Devin Williams trade tree.
  6. At least the worst we will have gone is 18-15 without Chourio and Vaughn and Quinn. I’ll take it.
  7. When Joey Ortiz gets an RBI groundout, we are very, very proud.
  8. Yeah Abrams is not a K machine at all, 19.4% for his career. For comparison Yelich is 22.1% for his career and Turang is 20.3%.
  9. It seems like this umpire has decided, “haha, they can’t do anything about it, so I’m just going to call the zone like I would have used to call it for them now.”
  10. I think they do need some common sense ground rules. I wouldn’t go this far, though. A bases loaded 3-2 pitch in the 4th inning could end up being far more impactful than anything in the late innings.
  11. Now this ump is going to royally suck the rest of the day and there’s nothing we are going to be able to do about it because we went after 2 calls he actually got right.
  12. Lol, then we finally don’t have a challenge for when we would have won.
  13. I think probably the most obnoxious thing is that I’ve having to come to terms with the fact that perhaps MLB umpires are not as terrible as I suspected they were. At least, they know the zone much better than our players apparently do.
  14. Yeah, if you’re going to burn your last challenge in the second inning, you had better be right, and he was not close to being right.
  15. LMAO. We suck at challenging. Didn’t even make it out of the second inning with a challenge left.
  16. System is fine IMO, we just need to be better, and more efficient at it. And maybe take challenge privileges away from Sanchez.
  17. As a team this is a new area of the game that we’re overall gotta get better at. Near the bottom of the league.
  18. Perkins is so intimidating that he’s caused two errors tonight.
  19. Those last two insurance runs may prove important.
  20. Contreras just saved that inning from being a major disappointment.
  21. I read this and for like 5 minutes I was thinking you were watching on TV and Rock gained a bunch of weight and now I just realized what you meant.
  22. For some reason Murph seems to ride his arm like a rented mule relative to other pitchers on his staff, but ain’t no way he’s letting Miz throw 130-140 pitches.
  23. Until Yelich gets back, or? I totally agree that it’s great to see Black doing this. He looked dead in the water as a prospect and now he’s looking back again,
