    Contrast that with the Cubs who had two 10 game winning streaks and a 10 game losing streak all before the month of May was even over 😳 Now if their fans wanted to say, “we are just not consistent,” I think that would be a valid statement.

    They all look like they’re relatively the same age, too. Like, I have questions about his life 10 years ago.

    PCA is just one of those guys that we could add Jesus Made to that list and the Cubs still wouldn’t even have a conversation with us about it. It’d be like us trading Miz. Whatever someone offers it’s just not going to be enough.

    Right. Chourio, Lara and Mitchell are clearly our 3 best options. Frelick just doesn’t really fit the team right now. I understand the occasional start in RF for Bauer just to get his bat in the lineup , but you give up a LOT defensively in that alignment. The absolute best combined unit of offense and defense that we can put out there for a playoff game is Contreras and obviously Turang, but with Pratt and Ortiz on the other side, Chourio, Mitchell and Lara across the outfield, and Bauers and Vaughn at 1B and DH. (Sorry, Yelich)

    I think people just say “consistent” when they really mean “great”. The Brewers have actually been amazingly consistent this year, arguably more so than last year. That’s why they’re in the position that they’re in. They haven’t had the 14 game winning streaks like last year, but they also have been able to avoid the extended losing streaks, Incredibly, the Brewers longest winning streak this year is only 5 games, which is amazing for being 89-56, and only possible because they have indeed been consistent and not fallen into the prolonged funks that often plague a team sometime throughout the course of a long season.

    Most likely it is going to be a “we will see how this goes”. If it’s going well I can’t see them piggybacking. If it’s going poorly I imagine the leash will be short.

    He definitely gave up some hard contact today. Defense won this game. The defense from yesterday’s Brewer game would have lost today’s. Everything mattered, Lara’s catch, Chourio’s catch, Patrick working out of trouble in the 5th. And the insurance run in the 8th,

    Clearly the Cubs, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Frelick gets shipped this offseason.

    Because that’s just how big change works. They were always going to start slow with this. You’ve got to ease the traditionalists in. That’s how replay started - first, just HR boundary calls. Then expanded to most out/safe calls on the field, and further. Now ABS. Give it another 3 years and I’d bet pretty heavily that the current ABS system won’t be the same as the one used now, and wouldn’t be surprised if it’s totally automated within 5 years.

    Yeah, this is the answer. They’re not really going to have a traditional 3rd or 4th starter in the playoffs. You’ll see a lot of guys for 3-4 innings or 2-3 for guys like Patrick who aren’t all the way stretched out. They approach it this way almost every postseason. They don’t usually carry 13 pitchers in the playoffs but I think this year they might. That will help them lean on their bullpen more heavily and they just don’t really have a need for either Naylor or Lockridge.

    I’m really hoping Harrison has a much better game next outing with it being a home game. It’s a big one for him.

    On Lara, his bat hasn’t been great. But it’s also not “so bad we have to question if his defense is enough to offset it.” He does some good things offensively where he works quite a few deep counts. Keep in mind he did have a nice hit today where he ended up scoring the first run of the game. The AB in the 8th, even though it was another deep AB, you’d definitely like to see better. Clearly was committed to swinging on 3-2 from the get-go as that pitch wasn’t close, though I kind of understand why given the situation, Hopefully his instincts will improve as he develops and he can start finishing some of those ABs. But yeah, it’s definitely the weak point of his game right now.

    I have seen New York review officials do some crazy bizarre things. Why not.

    With the win, the Brewers move to 8 games up and clinch the season series against the Cubs, meaning they would have to gain 9 games on the Brewers with 17 to play to take the Central. Simply not happening.

    It was 100 miles an hour on the outside corner. Pretty good pitch. PCA is just really amazing, can’t take that away from them. He’s the MVP for sure.

    That’s why Lara should play every day, he is the Ortiz of the outfield.

    Gotta get to PCA with the bases empty. Then you can go right after him with a 2 run cushion.

    They need like a 10 man piggyback approach. Their starters really aren’t that bad.

    Wild Bill has been one of the better Brewers lately, but that definitely does not include today.

    Was that single by Chourio a groundout with the infield at normal depth? I think it was.

    I honestly can’t even fault Counsell for trying to get Boyd through this inning. His bullpen is so bad.
