  1. I get that you don’t want to burn a challenge this early unless you’re sure, but strike 1 to Contreras was clearly Ball 4.
  2. Griffin and McGonigle will be graduating within a couple weeks, so Jesus Made will officially become the #1 prospect in baseball. He could get passed on midseason lists, though nothing about his performance says he should.
  3. Pratt red hot with the bat lately. 10 for his last 21.
  4. I am not saying that Gute is a bad GM, but this organization as a whole doesn’t weight past performance nearly heavily enough into their analysis of what a player will become. They don’t do it at the collegiate level, and they don’t do it at the professional level. In a vacuum, yes, you are paying for a player’s future, not their past. However, as you alluded to, the past 3 seasons should give you some indication on what the future holds. Picking up 5th year options of guys like Savage and LVN is poor procedure based on, again, a sunk cost fallacy simply because of the level of investment. If LVN were a 4th round pick we wouldn’t be dreaming of giving him a 1 year, 15M dollar extension for 2027.
  5. That’s kind of shocking. Were they watching the same LVN we were the last 3 years ? This is the same organization that picked up the 5th year option of Darnell Savage. I think they are suffering from some sunk cost fallacy when it comes to their own 1st round picks.
  6. You are absolutely right. Was definitely thinking of Komatsu. Nice find, too, because Komatsu is a pretty old obscure one.
  7. I am so mad at Contreras and Frelick for ruining our chance at Jones vs McCann.
  8. Contreras is definitely out. Any hustle whatsoever and he’s safe. Of course, it’s 13-1, not 2-1.
  9. I really want to see McCann face Greg Jones this inning. Something’s gotta give.
  10. Erick Almonte rings a vague, vague bell. I feel like he was one of our top prospects at a time when our prospects were very very bad and he was traded for some kind of rental.
  11. Honorable mention to Drohan today for eating up 4 good innings in long relief.
  12. Greg Jones isn’t really worthy of his own thread, so he gets the IGT treatment regardless of score.
  13. Vinny Capra was a pretty good comparison. Jones is definitely in that territory or worse.
  14. I mean I’m sure if the Mets were willing to give us Jett and Sproat for Woodruff instead of Peralta we would have been happy to do that instead.
  15. Insurance in baseball is definitely a thing, but not to where every team is not insuring every contract against long-term injury. Some teams use it a lot, others hardly at all, and it’s not recouping the full value. Impossible to say of course whether the Brewers have anything on Woodruff. Either way, the Brewers like any other MLB team are worth enough money where taking a hit on a $21M contract, as much as it might suck, isn’t crippling to the franchise.
  16. Greg Jones has had his shot. It’s time for Lara to get his.
  17. Offense spots you 3 runs and you just put 3 base runners on for free. It just blows the mind.
  18. Maybe that’s the problem. He’s actually lefty but has never tried it so he doesn’t know how much more natural it would feel for him.
  19. I literally have no expectations when Joey comes to the plate anymore.
  20. Apparently Lockridge doesn’t know it by an inch and a half.
