    Sorry, to bluntly answer this, I just can’t take an MLB philosophy for a small market team of “all-in, all the time” seriously. The Brewers would be a perennial 65 win team if they ran their franchise with that philosophy. Chourio would not be here, neither would Miz. No Turang, no Henderson. You also cannot compare it to the Micah Parsons trade. Completely different sports economies.

    I don’t understand the logic here. We’re years away from knowing if Jesus Made will ever be anything at this level. That’s certainly doesn’t make him expendable.

    Murphy said the Brewers will consider moving Harrison to the bullpen. We went from calling this guy a 1/2 back in May/June to not even rotation worthy. Yikes.

    It almost feels like we’re acquiring arms with the thought process of “what can we get this guy to do well?” rather than just “what does this guy do well?”

    Every talking head out there said “holy overpay” when they saw the May trade and not a single thing has happened in the interim to suggest that they were wrong.

    I don’t hate Senzatela but they’ve clearly tried to change him and it hasn’t worked, I didn’t hate that trade at the time. I cited that Manfredi has been excellent for the Rockies who we gave up to acquire him but I fully acknowledge as of right now it’s more likely flash in the pan than something big like that we missed out on, May/Romero isn’t hindsight 20/20 and was pretty widely panned at the time here. We gave up two very decent prospects there. It wasn’t junk for junk like Montas/Weimer. I could have lived with Ragsdale. The potential upside of Frias is too great to give up for guys who don’t move the needle at all. I think the best move that Arnold made this deadline is the one that he didn’t make, if in fact it would have required Henderson for Skubal, Nothing that we did in late July, IMO, has altered what our current record would be otherwise. You could make a better argument that it’s worse.

    They are 9-3 against those teams this year, so maybe not as difficult as you think,

    Braves win. Lead over the 3 seed now just 3 games (we are also very unlikely to get the tiebreaker versus the Braves), so we cannot afford to go into a slump.

    Sorry Jim, I agree with a lot of what you say but the trades have been absolutely awful, across the board. It’s true to say that no GM would have taken our internal options over Romero and Senzatela for semi-important innings but you can’t just separate that fact from the cost-benefit analysis of the move or whether they move the final W/L needle in any meaningful way or help in the playoffs. We sing the praises of the front office when they do something really good (like the Contreras trade), it’s fair to criticize when they make a bad move or moves.

    It doesn’t have to be Koenig or Kuhnel. There are guys in an organization’s 40 man roster that can chew up innings. Out getters? May has given us 9 and 1/3rd total innings in his last 4 appearances. TOTAL. He is not getting us outs. Senzatela has not been good and Romero has barely played. If you are trying to say that these were necessary deals to get us to the finish line over what our internal options are, sorry, we are just not going to agree. They haven’t moved the needle or gotten outs for us.

    No, I don’t hate Hamilton. I would however prefer him in more of a utility bat/pinch runner role than Murphy does, however. The defense of Pratt/Ortiz is worth it, and they do enough with their bats.

    If the Phillies can’t pull back ahead, this is going to turn into a 3 way race for seeding in a real hurry.

    You said you can’t have prospect love and expect difference makers. Okay, but they didn’t actually get any difference makers. None of the guys they acquired even profiled as differences makers. I don’t understand why you think they needed to burn out all their arms if they didn’t make these deals. Sproat could have eaten up innings. Crow could have eaten up innings. Wilson has eaten up innings. Koenig could have eaten up innings, Kuhnel could have eaten up innings, Gordon could have eaten up innings. Sure, it might not have been pretty all the time but it hasn’t been pretty anyway. They had guys to chew up innings to get to the finish line. All we’re trying to do is survive and get to the finish line. If we aren’t going to get actual difference makers, none of these other guys are moving the needle toward that goal.

    So you would option DL Hall today too, then? I mean if you want to say he isn’t proven — okay. But the guys we got have also been a “pass”.

    It’s not Coleman Crow versus Dustin May. I wouldn’t pitch Coleman Crow over Dustin May in a vacuum. I also wouldn’t give up the guys we did for a move that probably moves the needle maybe 1-2 wins (and won’t even end up doing that) over the course of 2 months.

    I mean they really didn’t need to do anything. It’s not like they couldn’t have just kept throwing Sproat/Crow out there with the exact same results that they’ve gotten anyway,

    Wait til you look at how the guys he’s given up are doing. You could argue that the actual MLB team would be benefiting more from the guys he gave up than the guys he acquired, let alone the minor league system.

    This is why you get into spats with everyone, There’s nothing inherently wrong with being a positive poster. You are incapable of just engaging in a friendly conversational disagreement with anyone who has a different opinion than you. You have to go completely off the rails sarcastic strawman anytime anyone states something that is a negative thing that exists about the team right now.

    Which is stupid if that is the logic. Both of your actual MLB catchers do not need a day off on the same exact day. You could have easily staggered one yesterday and the other today if the only other options was no option besides Naylor today,
