The timeout is fine if you’re going to call a different defensive play on 4th down. There was 5 seconds left. Blitz and take down Hurts in 4 seconds and you can get the ball back and kick a FG or at least attempt one. Instead they played prevent which was pointless.
I don’t mind the swings that make sense. The Banks and Hobbs signings both looked like baffling overpays at the time they happened and they look worse in hindsight.
I expected that, but I actually think this is the best we’ve looked in the two minute drive all year. They were actually getting up to the line quickly and not burning a ton of time.
And this is what I don’t understand about our usual approach. Why not change it up and run a quick tempo offense when your traditional offense isn’t working?
