  1. He was only at 81 pitches. The way this bullpen has been pitching I’d have tried to push him into the 8th.
  2. He’s a top 2 pitcher in our rotation and at times I’m not sure he’s #2. Weakening our rotation isn’t the answer to our bullpen problems. I'd much rather take the bullpen first path with Gasser, Henderson and Crow rather than the guy who looks like a really good starter and at times gives us the most length of our starters.
  3. There is no way you can continue to justify this man playing every day for a competitive baseball team for yet another season. I don’t care if his defense is on par with the prime of Ozzie Smith, which it’s not.
  4. Wanted to add a wrinkle to the Pratt versus Ortiz discussion from last night. Made is 18 years old. He is dominating in AA ball in Biloxi. I assume he’s been offered or at least his interest has been gauged in signing a Pratt like deal (with different $ and parameters, of course). Hypothetically … if Made signed a 10 year contract, for example … he’d be up, right? There’d be no service time incentive not to, and you can’t say he’s not already one of our 26 best options.
  5. It aged beautifully or horribly, depending on your perspective.
  6. If Pratt cannot even achieve a Joey Ortiz level of offense at the MLB level, that contract is going to look puzzling.
  7. Made for sure. But we haven’t signed him long-term. In any event, the offensive bar couldn’t be lower for Pratt so I hope they bring him up sooner rather than later.
  8. Saying this with your restless child fidgeting next to you late night on a school night as you field questions from the media is as ironic as it gets.
  9. This is just weird. It is 10:20 pm on a school night. What young kids want to stay up late to repeatedly accompany their 67 year old father to a press conference and try to stay awake while he fields questions about a team losing streak?
  10. I’m ready for Pratt. He simply can’t be worse than Joey.
  11. Maybe Joey can get down on all 4’s and start barking like a dog and confuse them just long enough for Bauers to trot in from 3rd.
  12. Depends if the next pitcher they bring in can’t find the zone
  13. Yeah, I mean I get the calls for Megill to be out as closer, he looks horrific. but…. Uribe hasn’t been good. Zerpa hasn’t been good. So.. Grant Anderson? We need someone other than Ashby. The entire bullpen needs to get better or it won’t matter much what Megill is doing.
  14. I agree Megill should not be closing games anymore, but this bullpen overall is looking like a serious liability. It’s not like Uribe’s performances lately have a lot going for them, either.
  15. lol… bottom of the order. He was facing the bottom of the order. Still hasn’t retired a batter, and we are headed for 6 in a row.
  16. “Megill is our 9th inning guy” - Murphy tonight, probably
  17. Hard to play small ball when your small ball guys like Hamilton don’t get on base at all.
  18. I actually think the Yelich injury doesn’t hurt as badly as it looks on the surface, because it opens up Sanchez to just DH everyday. Which presumably also keeps him away from first base, so, win/win there.
  19. Too bad he’s somehow worse offensively than he was last year.
  20. I’m honestly fine with a complete overhaul at the bottom of the roster. Get Jett up, get Pratt up. Yes, I know the results may not be any better at first, but they’re not going to be any worse than what we’re getting from 3 or 4 of our existing guys, and they’re part of our future. Matos and Hamilton are not. I’d rather take my lumps with the guys here for the long haul and let them get used to it here. Matos, Rengifo, Perkins, Lockridge, Hamilton, Ortiz and Jones are all anywhere between AAA replacement level players or borderline MLB players. It is really hard to win when half of your position player group is that weak.
  21. Take your pick, none of Rengifo, Matos or Perkins belong on an MLB roster.
