  1. It's a rellef to see at least Jaime Garcia not become Superman when he puts on a Cubs jersey.
  2. For me, this team is more fun and I’ll tell you why I feel that way. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIL/MIL201108020.shtml This game was the moment when it became obvious to me that Ron lacked the any of the savvy it would take to win a championship. I told my Dad afterwards, it won’t happen this season because Roenicke is not the man for the job. And he solemnly agreed. If we’d had a manager as smart as CC that season it might have been a different story. In any case, while I enjoyed the ride a whole bunch in 2011, deep down I knew we had a problem at the helm that would be our undoing. This year, while our team is far from perfect, I like our chances better than I did at this point in 2011. I hate TLR, but he managed circles around Roenicke in the NLCS. Roenicke somehow didn't seem to understand that there was any difference in how he should approach things in a playoff game versus a regular season game. Roenicke seemed to have the respect and effort of his players which is an important aspect of a manager. Beyond that, it seemed like he was in a little over his head with the deeper aspects of baseball strategy. There's a reason he hasn't had a managerial gig since then.
  3. Stuff like this happens with any fan base anywhere a competitive team exists, so I don't think it's going to dissuade anyone from signing here. And go on any team board and you're guaranteed that a share of them want to fire the manager. Has any Brewer fan outside of Kato Kaelin actually called for Counsell to be canned? Brewer fans generally have a pretty decent reputation. Obviously, every fanbase does have bad apples and if there was crap being given to him by Brewer fans walking around town, that's unfortunate. But the whole thing on social media was started by some crappy Cubs radio site and 90%+ Brewer fans came to his defense.
  4. Getting win #80 today kind of put in perspective for me how close we are getting to the finish line. 20 games left, 10-10 gets us to 90 wins and that will be good enough for a WC. The only ones who can keep the Brewers out of the playoffs are the Brewers, because they don't need to do anything special from here to make it. They just need to avoid an epic collapse.
  5. Just to clarify but I'm 99% certain it was postponed, not suspended, meaning they'll start from scratch. Suspended would imply they'll pick up the game where they left off. I can't imagine Lester is going to go tomorrow.
  6. Gio is going tomorrow against Stratton. Davies is lined up to face MadBum. I get your point, though. Oops, good catch. I do feel better about Davies, but yeah, tough matchup either way.
  7. This was a big one to win for sure. Don't want to drop one today and then have MadBum vs. Gonzalez looming on Sunday.
  8. Well sure, I'll take Clayton Kershaw in a WC game if I have no other choice to at least be playing, but if I do have a choice I'll take Clayton Richard instead. Honestly though no way of even knowing if the Dodgers would have the luxury of lining up Kershaw for a WC game. If they need a win on the last day of the season just to get there and his turn is up they're not going to wait and save him.
  9. I really don't care who wins those games. You could probably make a case for the Dodgers winning being better as they likely still have better odds of winning the division. Neither is really a bad outcome.
  10. No reason for Yelich to be upset about that call.
  11. Thames is way overdue. I was at the game in early August when he hit the walkoff 2 out HR to beat the Rockies and it's hard to think of much he's done since then.
  12. I'm hoping having this deep of a bench is going to win us some games this month.
  13. Tough to come away empty handed in that inning.
  14. Some people seem to think that if your opinion differs with theirs, that you MUST be wrong... It's a little ridiculous at times. Healthy conversation works best when opinions differ, yet sometimes, people are looked down upon because they have a different opinion. Makes no sense. Yep. There is a difference between disagreeing with something and blind hatred. I'm sure most Brewer fans at this point do not agree with the decision to acquire Schoop, but that doesn't mean they hate David Stearns or think he wants to lose.
  15. Pick a pitch other than 3-2 to use the terrible behind home plate camera, Fox Sports.
  16. Holland looked like he totally lost the zone, Aguilar may have bailed him out on that AB.
  17. Well, we’re sitting behind a keyboard and he basically lives with these guys, so I’m guessing he has a better gauge of what is going in with the players than we do. It sounds like CC noticed he was struggling mentally or physically and talked to him. I don’t believe for a second if Yeli kicked and screamed and demanded to play that he would have played (see what I did there?). I guess I don’t get the second guessing on stuff like this. CC has the best interest of the team AND the players in mind when he makes these decisions, it’s not like he’s trying to lose on purpose. I didn't ever suggest he was trying to lose on purpose. I just struggle to believe that of all the days for Yelich to get a day off, it absolutely had to fall during those 3 crucial games. If that's the case, I think he should have proactively been sit during the Nats' series. Its okay for me to have a difference of opinion and not agree with something Counsell did.
  18. Definitely more pitches than I would have liked to see Hader throw for 1 inning. You could sit him now and maybe have him back after 1 day off, or go one more and definitely lose him until the Wrigley series.
  19. I disagree with Counsell's decision to choose a game of that magnitude to sit Yelich, but I certainly don't question Yelich over it or believed for a second that he asked to be sat.
  20. Hopefully that'll be the only token HR for chase given up tonight. I'm less upset about that than spiking a pitch in the dirt last inning and giving up a run that way.
  21. Do we face a damn RHP starter at some point again this season?
  22. Seems like we've benefited more than been hurt by calls the last few days but that was a really bad strike 1 call to Aguilar.
