  1. Not a good time for such a bad wild pitch, cost 1 run minimum.
  2. I'm going to vent a little bit here as tactfully as I can. I am very disappointed that Christian Yelich was kept out of the lineup today. Pregame it seemed to be understood that he was just not physically available, but that no longer seems to be the case and his PH appearance confirmed that. With the day off tomorrow it seems impossible to believe that this day off absolutely could not have waited until Friday. If that is indeed the case, this constitutes some poor planning as he could have been kept out of a game in Washington. Look, I get that the guy needs a day off now and then, but these are the most important 6 games in the second half, every one of them essentially being twice as important as others. These games needed to be highligted on the calendar and the A team available. We will never know if the result would have been different with Yelich, but I find it really disappointing in such a critical game, against the division leaders, a chance to pull within 2, only 3 such games left, that Counsell would end up keeping our best player out of the lineup today.
  3. Used to be 16, now 18 games over just seems to be that ceiling that we can't break.
  4. Schoop is 11 for his last 33 with 3 HR and 10 RBI in that span. He got off to a slow start here for sure and the criticism was warranted then but it sure is getting over the top now.
  5. On the radio they continue to say routine off day for Yelich today.
  6. This reminds me of a great tweet from a few days ago. Logan doesn't have a respectable career ERA, that's the scary part.
  7. Unless he's still banged up, I don't get it. Manny is certainly better than Kratz and has had a very nice 2nd half.
  8. It's hard to be mad at him for that last one, but Moose has just killed some rallies today. He's had big RISP opportunities and nothing.
  9. #1 - Why did anyone new have to be put in? #2 - Xavier Cedeno, an actual LOOGY, if you really must make a change. #3 - I have to think you've only been following from afar the last month or so if you haven't seen how many times we've been burned bringing in Dan Jennings specifically for a lefty.
  10. There are a million pitchers in the bullpen. I don't think using one is a problem. Well, then you'd think if he was going to make a move, he would have found one of the 999,999 pitchers in the bullpen not named Daniel Jennings.
  11. But again, great pitching change Counsell. Only about the 87th straight time that Dan Jennings has burned you. And Kratz caught a big break there.
  12. Why does Dan Jennings still play in situations that matter?
  13. Yeah, pretty much. Today is kind of unique in that the result essentially doubles the division lead for the Cubs. (2 or 4) . It was/is crucial if you're still all in on winning the division, to take this one. 2 games out with about 20 left hardly feels like anything. 4 is going to be very tough to overcome. So I get it. It's a big loss in that aspect if they can't come back. But yeah, playoffs are definitely still there for the taking either way.
  14. Chacin seemed to roll his eyes at this pitching change. He knows what happens when Dan Jennings comes in with inherited runners to face a lefty.
  15. It's so annoying that 30 something players who look like washed up has-beens with their teams go put on a Cubs jersey and suddenly discover the freaking fountain of youth. Like they need any extra help.
  16. Arcia obviously didn't get it done but it was Moose's AB that really hurt. Pet peeve of mine is guys, especially our big bats, going down looking in situations where they had multiple runs in scoring position and 1 or 2 out. It boggles the mind to me not to protect there and seems to be a recurring theme with us.
  17. Yes, HBP is HBP regardless of whether it hits the ground first.
  18. You absolutely have to protect there with 2 in scoring position and 1 out, Moose. Cannot guess and stare at a perfect pitch for strike 3. Just put it in play and at least get 1. Very disappointing. That was a really good shot to get back in this.
  19. Of course he gets the popup from Bryant to keep the runner at 2nd and then throws one to the backstop on the next pitch.
  20. Yelich is banged up if you didn’t see that post. He needed the day according to CC. Makes sense. If he needs it he needs it, nothing you can do about that. Thanks.
