  1. Count me in the group really disappointed to see Yelich out of the lineup. These games against the Cubs are doubly important, a day off could have waited until tomorrow. He's our best player and we need him in there in these games. Perez is 7 for his last 29. (.241) Not really smoking the ball to the extent where I think he really justifies being in for Yelich and batting 2nd in such a crucial game. But, that's just my opinion. Hope he has a 3 for 5 day and makes my opinion look bad.
  2. It's definitely ok to be greedy today, a sweep makes an enormous difference. If you lose and take 2 out of 3, sure, you can feel good about that and you're still the top Wild Card, but the fact will be you haven't really impacted the division race much. Win, and you're 2 back and all of the sudden you really start to put pressure on the Cubs. Yes they have 3 more games against the Cubs but asking for another series like this only to finish the sweep is a huge ask, especially at Wrigley. You're already in position to do that today. Put it this way, win today and you can afford to 'only' win the series in Wrigley without sweeping.
  3. I agree with the others on a Chacin type deal. He has been fantastic, but we are still talking about 11 starts. That's an awfully small sample to forget about everything before that and pony up. Still, I don't think it's impossible that someone rolls the dice and offers 3/36 or so. If they do, I'd pass. 2/16 is about the highest I'd want to go.
  4. There’s a link at the top of the page, scroll up to the thread title and click on “Fan Sites/Resources “ None of those really seem active, might not have been updated in a while. Www.Bleedcubbieblue.com
  5. If you had used that word to refer to Miley back in March I would have assumed we were about 50-90.
  6. I'd like to start seeing some of that elite defense from Arcia tonight, as he is certainly not in there for his offense.
  7. Lot of groundballs tonight, they hadn't had much of a chance to erupt over a flyball until now...and they did not disappoint.
  8. Yep, I'd say Thames has given us what we paid for. A success? Well, that's relative, but I certaintly wouldn't call it a disappointment. I guess if there is disappointment, a lot of it stems from the first month here when it looked like he was going to be an MVP caliber sensation.
  9. Miley is apparently begging to get that call next time. Never saw a guy start heading back to the dugout on a ball.
  10. Having two pitcher bats hitting 8th and 9th is such a rally killer. At least we got a gift run to match their gift run.
  11. Cannot afford this kind of early garbage D against the Cubs. 2nd day in a row. Clean throw home and Bote is dead to rights.
  12. Come on Aguilar, that was Strike 4. Get the bat off the shoulders.
  13. Urgh. Well, better to GIDP on that one than his last one.
  14. They are just one game ahead of the Dodgers for the 2nd spot who definitely have a playoff capable team. They've got a fairly tough finishing schedule. I wouldn't call it a given. Streaks come and go both ways.
  15. I think we found out the answer to this in the Nats series.
  16. Only 11 pitchers? I'm a bit surprised by that. I know Broxton would be fantastic to have in the playoffs, I just don't see it happening. You probably replace Broxton with a pitcher...probably Peralta or Williams in the bullpen. Also I'm not entirely convinced you go Granderson over Thames. We'll see I guess. This is probably pretty close for the first round though. I imagine any wildcard game is going to have 2-3 less pitchers with more position players. Probably Saladino and Thames would be locks, possibly even a 3rd catcher that you hope to never use just so you can safely pinch run for a catcher. Worst comes to worst, Kratz can pitch in extras... I goofed and actually only have 24 on my list, so we could keep that bench and add a pitcher. Maybe Woodruff, maybe Williams, maybe Cedeno. Lot of candidates.
  17. OF: Yelich, Cain, Braun, Granderson, Broxton IF: Aguilar, Schoop, Shaw, Moustakas, Arcia, Pina, Kratz, Perez SP: Chacin, Anderson, Miley, Davies RP: Hader, Jeffress, Burnes, Knebel, Gonzales, Jennings, Soria There are going to be some really tough decisions. Guerra has to be left out. I can't find room for Peralta. I don't see a spot for Williams. There's no way they can take more than 2 of Jennings, Gonzalez and Cedeno. I took Broxton and Granderson over Thames. Of course, any of the above can swing the odds into their favor with a hot September.
  18. The Tampa Bay Rays have a better record than the Arizona Diamondbacks. That just seems weird.
  19. Yeah I don't disagree with anything he did in the pen, Rizzo just beat Hader, it happens. Or pretty much anything other than having Granderson bunt with 2 strikes which is statistically just a really awful decision even if Granderson was a terrible hitter and elite bunter. Fortunately it didn't come back to bite him so we aren't talking about it but if things went awry in the 9th it would be different.
  20. Bunting with 2 strikes in any situation with anyone that isn't a pitcher is a horrendously terrible move.
  21. Have to say though, Bryant really botched that. Obviously tough decision in the spur of the moment what to do.
  22. Well it's because Yelich is awesome. That and you don't really want to put yourself in a situation where a walk wins it.
