  1. I think it's the shadows combined with our already disliked batter's eye that make Miller Park bad.
  2. Torre feels pressure to let all of his players get playing time. He should have played them yesterday against Italy, which was also just about a must win game.
  3. I believe Fan's Choice are still behind all other types of season tickets. So if there are more of them, you might get bumped back. Also, you might have just happened to choose games that other ticket holders with more seniority have also chosen.
  4. The same reason movies come out on the same weekend. Part to steal the thunder from other games. Part because that date was targeted as a great date to release (based on holidays and other events). They are always on Tuesdays because that is the same day the DVD's, CD's and other digital media arrive at stores.
  5. I want to return. I hadn't checked the softball forum in a while. I hope to convert my gritty veteraness from roster invite to starting a critical position in a playoff game.
  6. We had 2 1B go down with injuries. One will be coming back after ~45 games. Why should Melvin go out and get someone to cover those few at bats? Who would want to come to play for only that short of time?
  7. They are actually 34 games over .500. They would have 648 wins if they were a .500 team. They actually had 665, or 17 more wins than if they were .500. Their average over the last 8 years is 83.125-78.875 or 4.25 games above .500.
  8. That $15M is simply from not having Marcum and K-Rod on the roster this year. I think resigning them for that money would have made this team any worse.
  9. Record: 77-85 Division: 4th (Cards, Reds, Pirates, Brewers, Cubs) All Stars: Bruan Disappointments: Pitching, RRR Surprises: We trade none of our players because we are "still in it" at the deadline, By the end of the year the Brewers will be the Pirates whipping boy World Series: Angels over Dodgers
  10. Passan plagiarizes most of his articles. I don't read them and try to find the originals.
  11. IIRC, weren't at least one of the other samples thrown out because the results were so out of wack? I think there were problems with all of the samples, but Braun's was the only one that found "synthetic T" in the second test. Except they didn't find "synthetic T", they found molecules that were the same size as synthetic T. Since the scientific process wasn't followed, how do we know what those molecules were?
  12. Haha, suckers! ...wait a tic... 'Doh!
  13. Songs have different numbers of beats per measure. The most common (especially among pop songs) is 4/4 with 4 beats per measure. The National Anthem is in 3/4 with 3 beats per measure. There is also 6/8 with 2 or 3 beats per measure. The Firebird Suite (a conductor's standard) goes into 7/4 and 7/2 which have 7 beats in a measure. This is why Beats Per Minute is the standard designation for tempo when reading music. I have never seen MPM before.
  14. Andante moderato is about 70 beats per minute. If there are 35 bars (I didn't look it up), one would need to account that there are 3 beats per bar. That would mean there are 105 beats. At 70 bpm, it should take a minute and a half.
  15. It is not a death march meant to be played a slow as possible. Nor should you add your own note in between all of the real notes. Just play it straight and get it over with. Listen to a good marching band play it. They usually play it correctly. I hate whenever someone from Steetlife is at Miller park...
  16. This. I know Driver as a good receiver, McDonalds, and dancing. I don't think he's someone to celebrate for all time.
  17. Maybe a pair of dance shoes.
  18. Before 2012 Hart and all of 0 GP at 1B in his MLB career. 1B is an easy position to play. That goes to show how unathletic our last 1B was.
  19. I have something that's nagging me. There is a new pop song called Thrift Shop. I can't find info on what song(s) it samples from. I know it does, because it sounds familiar. Both the lyrical melody and the sax line. Can anyone who is better with remembering pop songs/artists be able to help me?
  20. I was ridiculed for my GPA when I went to college in the late 90's. I would have to point out that we had an unweighted 4.0 scale. So your 5.0 weighted scale meant my GPA was better than yours, despite it being ".2 higher".
  21. I just got my option to buy extra opening day tickets yesterday.
  22. I think in past years they've said it would be single seats and SRO just so people don't get their hopes up, but on the on-sale day they've paid plenty of pairs available. I got a pair of Club level tickets last year that way. It depends on how many package holders buy "extras".
  23. Translation - So either we spend for starters now, or we resign ourselves to suck with a low payroll.
