  1. I thought the Big 3 were 1. Did your team make the playoffs? 2. Did the player have any walkoffs/dominating game in September? 3. Is the player friendly to the media?
  2. Yes. If guys are still giving the Suppans and Bushs chances, Estrada will be wanted. If we send Fiers down, don't we get an extra year of control of him?
  3. I'm not upset our 30 year 2B has lost a step in the last 5 years. It was a "tip your hat" play to Plouffe.
  4. I love the Keg's roof. It's been years since I've had to sit in the rain while watching baseball. Edit: Bad wording. I'm not in Minnesota, just watching on TV. I hope it is many more years before I have a rainy baseball experience.
  5. The next video is pretty amazing.
  6. Maybe we can trade a couple of bullpen arms to them mid-game?
  7. This is exactly what Grady Little was thinking in '03. And it rightly cost him his job. Grady Little watched Pedro give up three straight hits with a pitch count around 105 when he let him continue. Topper is referring to Wolf being pulled between innings with 95 pitches, looking very in control. Of course, Pedro was a much better pitcher than Wolf. I don't know whether I agree or disagree with the decision, but the Grady/Pedro comparison sorta seems like a reach. Little was fired for having Pedro come out to pitch any of the 8th inning. The GM gave Little stats that showed after 85(?) pitches he wasn't that good anymore. Pedro pitched 90 pitches in 7 innings. Pedro acted like he was done for the night when he came out of the 7th. Little used his gut to decide that Pedro was "on" that night and should continue to pitch. Leaving him in there after 3 hits was just a different (and equally as bad) decision. That was the comparison. Deciding Wolf was "on" and wanting to leave him in there despite stats that say he's not good late in the game.

  9. Gomez is batting 2nd so Hart can get more RBIs?!?!? My head hurts so bad. I'm done with RRR.
  10. This is what I would ask for. As an FYI. I had my glove on my hand when Green came to the plate. I have been taking my glove all year waiting for #1. It was hit right over my head in the first row. If Green had hit it ~5' shorter I would be shagging balls at MP one day.
  11. The same is true with the pitcher. If Pitcher A leaves after 1 strike, the K goes to Pitcher B. If there are 2 strikes, A gets credit.
  12. Pitching/Defense is half the component for winning. The other half is offense. Giving up 8 runs a game isn't bad if you score 10 runs a game.
  13. When I was 12 I had the opportunity to get my first (and it ends up only) start as a pitcher. My mom went outside with me to help me practice the day before. Not having a proper catcher's glove, I was throwing it a bit too hard for her liking. She decided to stand in the lefty's batter box and hold the base in the strike zone with her right hand. I was mixing in curve balls, but having just learned the grip it moved less than my change up. It finally clicked and I threw one of my best curve balls in my life. It curved right into the back of her hand. It was not in a fist, but it was holding the plate with a firm grip. We went straight to the ER where they called it a boxer's break. The doctor believed she had punched something, but her hand was not even in a fist when it happened. To this day her right pinky is noticeably shorter than her left. So it is possible that Lucroy got hit with something in the back of his hand and the break wasn't caused by punching something.
  14. Because when the roof is open and the shadows creep across the field later in the game, this isn't a problem? Maybe we need to become a bunch of cry babies. Maybe we'd win a WS? It has worked for the last two years...
  15. He claims he never bet against his team. He also claimed for a long time that he never bet on any baseball. No. The rules was black and white and posted in every clubhouse. Bet on the game and you get a lifetime ban. The HoF already decided that ban means no shrine.
  16. FYI for those that missed it. The closed caption area had a change this weekend. When there is no announcement to write in the area it now displays a digital clock with the icons of the two teams. It looks a lot better than the empty blue areas it used to display during down times.
  17. No, the pitch to Green was just a bit inside. Green swung his arms and checked his swing. The pitch hit him in the arm/hand area on the checked swing. Dillard wasn't trying to retaliate. Lucroy was set up inside. The pitch looked like a frisbee that hooks at the end as it sailed behind him.
  18. I prefer to play the infield. I used to play 3B but have slowed reaction speed like Ramirez. Now I play a lot of SS and 2B. I can do 3B if you need me to. Age sucks.
