  1. I just puked a little in my mouth.
  2. Except that Beltran is now in St. Louis where they have something magical in their water that makes people slug better and stay healthy. And the magic of their hitting coach.
  3. Somebody (official Brewers source like Hardricourt or McCalvy) tweeted something about this this past week. I can't find it now, with all that has happened. It said that Hart didn't dislike hitting in the 5 hole, he just didn't like hitting right behind Fielder.
  4. I know the inner workings of the USPS and not FedEx. But the sitting around at FedEx doesn't make sense. Only the delivery drivers and commercial stores are closed late at nights and Sundays. The actual shipping operations (truck drivers, dock workers, airport workers, planes) all work 24/7. If you deliver something to the post office when it closes on Saturday, the latest it would leave the building would be Sunday mid day (at least in major cities). The only time it would be "sitting around" is if you ship it on a Wednesday or Thursday and it arrives at the destination post office on Saturday. Then it waits for the next time the delivery person loads up, which would be Monday morning. Maybe FedEx works differently. It's possible for Braun to not have juiced and the collector to not act in malice. It's possible that it is the collector's mistakes (incompetence?) caused the bad results.
  5. He wasn't supposed to tell his son, but he did. A great question is who else did he (or his son) tell? Maybe those two didn't do anything, but someone they told did? It would still make the tester guilty of leaking the confidentiality of the test taker.
  6. If Braun really did take performance enhancing drugs and got off, he has a future in politics. That press conference was nailed. Only haters could walk away from that and still think he is guilty.
  7. I received my extra opening day tickets in the mail yesterday. Section 109. And I slept in a warm bed last night.
  8. They will not have stick shift cars. Not enough people in the states know how to drive them. Automatic shouldn't be hard, just different and a little boring. Make sure you put the gear shift to "D". I had a South African put it in "1" and wonder why it drove wonky at 40mph. "1" and "2" tell the car to not shift and stay in those gears. "D" lets the car decide what gear to use.
  9. It looks like the Rays have some nice gifts, but they are almost all for the first 10k kids. I like that the Brewers went to All Fan for the bobbleheads. I don't have to drag the sister along. And now that she's in college can't get the kids giveaways anyway.
  10. I'll admit that I leave most of my trash under the seat. The bleachers are full of garbage and I follow the herd. Maybe I'll change my ways.
  11. What about Designated Outfielders to prevent Cameron, Hart, Beltran, or Rowland like injuries?
  12. Being the first player to publicly win a drug appeal would be breaking news. But I fear the instructions were so they can descend like vultures to interview all of the players about a suspension. I am ready for the suspension, losing our pitching staff, and going back to being a bad team. Hey, two playoff series wins in 45 years is good, right?
  13. I bought extra Opening Day tickets as a STH and was able to buy parking. You can have the family members run to the stadium sometime in the next week or so to pick up some parking. IIRC, a year or two ago I didn't buy tickets until two days before the game and got some with no problem. I would suggest calling your account rep and see what they say.
  14. It would be unwise to bat anyone but Betancourt #8. How many times did that happen? Besides, Lucroy is a C. He has to bat #8. I can't wait for this lineup. I know it's coming. Hart Morgan Weeks Ramirez Gonzalez Aoki Gamel Lucroy
  15. Darn. My heart skipped a beat until I realized which Chris Carpenter was being sent to the other league.
  16. 1) O'Hare (Chicago) is not far away. Getting to O'Hare from anywhere in the world shouldn't be too hard. You can book a new flight from O'Hare to Mitchell Field (sometimes called Miller Field by Presidential staff). Or there are plenty of buses, trains, and rental cars that will help you with the rest of the way. 2) There are 3 main "hubs" of hotels. One near the airport (ok area, but nothing interesting close), downtown, and Waukesha-ish (just west of Milwaukee). It really depends on what experience you want, how close you intend on staying near the hotel (if you don't mind spending 30 minutes driving, the whole city is available from all of them), and what your pricing concerns are. 3) 7) Milwaukee County Zoo, Milwaukee Art Museum, Meier Festival Grounds 4) Baseball is America's sport. You want to study and enjoy American culture. 5) It should be easy enough though Brewers.com or StubHub.com to buy tickets in different sections. The pre-game and post game shows are broadcast from section 105 if you wanted to see those people do their job. 6) With seven different days, I'd try to get everything at least once. At minimum, a sausage of some type is required. [self advertisement] Buy lots of nachos and/or pretzels with cheese[/self advertisement] 8) Tailgate at least once. Also budget enough time one day to walk around the stadium and take in all of the sites. Outside they have statues in front of home plate and honor plaques on the ground surrounding the stadium. Inside they have various stations celebrating various groups (African Americans, Latinos, Wisconsin ballplayers, Milwaukee Braves, etc).
  17. Pet peeve of mine: "...peanuts and Cracker Jack" There is no "s" on Cracker Jack. The song is asking to buy more than one peanut, but only one box of Crack Jack. I cringe every 7th inning.[/OTGrammernazi]
  18. I don't think so. It's like the rules of baseball, it doesn't really explain what to do in certain cases. It just says not to do it. Example: The rules say that a team cannot leave it's gear on the field of play. But no penalty is given for if they break that rule. Technically everything in the on deck circle is outlawed, but has no penalty associated with breaking the rule. This would help the 2012 Brewers, but wouldn't help Braun's reputation. Everyone would see it as Braun getting off on a technicality and being a steroid user. If Braun is truly innocent, he does not want to go this route. And if it happens, every player would "leak" the information. The modern browsers I use (mostly Chrome and a little Firefox) have built in spell checkers.
  19. Try tossing your cookies on Yuku and see if it smells better.
  20. Because people keep watching and reading. I quit the four letter network years ago.
  21. I think it depends on what happens. If he's found innocent and they come out with explicit reasons why the arbitrator came up with it, there won't be much more discussion. If the arbitrator comes out and says, "I really don't know. There are arguments for both sides. I'll just stay the judgement of guilty and enforce the suspension," this thread will probably never die.
  22. I don't think the number should have been retired in the first place. Uecker's got a sign up at MP honoring 50 years, but that doesn't mean 50 is retired. I see this as correcting a problem a previous owner created.
  23. I've been catching up on old games I've missed. I finally felt my FPS skills were high enough and I just finished ME 1 several weeks ago. Maybe Bioware can find time to go back to good turn based RPGs now. Hopefully by the time I've gotten around to ME 2. ME 3 sounds awful. Before ME I played The Saboteur. It was a pretty good game. Except for the part where EA closed and laid off Pandemic right before before the game released. I'm going through Bully: Scholarship Addition right now. It's good, except for the missing errands bug.
  24. This week is free preview week of NHL's Center Ice with Dish. I got to watch my first full Red Wings game of the year tonight, and it's the game that set an NHL record with their 21st consecutive home win. What great timing to offer it this week, and fortunate luck that I found out about the preview on Sunday. I usually don't find out about the previews until they are almost or already over.
  25. Not a darn thing. We don't do fake holidays. She appreciates that I show my love every day of the year. I'm lucky to have her.
