  1. I'm just excited of the Bill Hall coming up with more celebrations.
  2. It's based on an old drinking song. It is not a funeral march. It should be up tempo without warbles. I get sad every time I see a member of Street Life at Miller Park.
  3. It's a shame GhostsofQuantrill isn't still around. We could have moved our server to Arizona.
  4. Remember back when our rotation was going to be anchored by our young prospects Gallardo and Parra? This is why I'm only expecting 1 of our current big 4 pitchers to pan out.
  5. Time for me to nitpick. Two teams are 1-1.
  6. I don't believe this is true. The group he would sell the team to would go over all contractual obligations. Expensive long-term deals would lead to the price paid going down. Remember the outrage when it got leaked that Wendy the Witch was dropping payroll to $27M for ?2004? It was so they could sell the team the next year. No long term or expensive contracts drove the price of the team up. She knew she would get more money if the new owner was free to build the team they wanted. I think these long, risky deals (like A-Ram) are signs that he is not going to sell any time soon.
  7. Why not GameStop? They sometimes have good deals.
  8. I hate the second one. Why not just come out and say, "Hey, we don't care either. This is just something to watch while drinking and waiting for football."
  9. Chrome (and my work firewall) caused a double post. Sorry.
  10. If AGonz gets a minor injury ("day to day" and needs 3-4 days off), you don't trade or bring up a minor league player. That is what Izturis is for. And no, I'm not happy that he's on my team. I just hope Izturis is playing the role of Josh Wilson this year and not Kotsay.
  11. What is wrong with these "crappy balls"? I play in an outseam league on Mondays. Those are crappy balls.
  12. #2 doesn't matter. The same points were made about division races when the WC was first introduced. The one game playoff is crazy stupid. It does make winning the division much more important than simply getting a wild card.
  13. I can't wait until we start Izzy in a postseason game. Let's trade Green for 1 or 2 years of an aging vet. I'm so glad we decided to take the Mets route to greatness.
  14. I can't make it this Sunday. My mom's birthday party is being held that day.
  15. Baseball Prospectus has their Playoff Odds Report out now that the season has started. The Brewers have the second best odds of making the playoffs in the NL. Only the Cardinals have better odds.
  16. Kentrail Davis and Max Walla. Not exactly adding weight to the "Brewers won the trade" argument. I still think we won the trade, but the draft picks will probably never amount to more than a cup of coffee. We probably should have gone after someone with more time left on the arby clock. Interesting to note: the Angels got the Yankees 1st draft pick for losing Teixeira. It would have been ours if Sabathia was rated higher or if Teixeira went elsewhere. The Angels used that pick to draft Mike Trout.
  17. Trading for Marcum didn't cause Greinke to come, but it did signify that we were going for it and not going to trade Prince.
  18. Good God. I knew that I wasn't able to keep up with all the money-driven conference re-alignments. They shouldn't be able to call themselves the Big East if they have teams West of the Mississippi. Along with SMU will be Boise State and San Diego State. The conference name will make as much sense as the Big 10.
  19. Fielder has a 6% chance on that estimate to beat Bonds.
  20. His slash line is really .2651/.3125/.3907/.7032. Both OBP(.313) and SLG(.391) get rounded up, but they aren't large enough to cause OPS(.703) to be rounded up.
  21. 85-77, 3rd in the Central. 4 games out of the playoffs. We'll trade a prospect (Green, or A-Ball player) for a grizzled veteran for half a year.
  22. I hope he makes a fast recovery...and channels his inner Ben Hendrickson for the rest of his career.
  23. Kirby Puckett played 12 years total, ages 24-35. WAR 44.8, two WS rings, .318/.360/.477, 124 OPS+. Michael Young has 12 years so far, ages 23-34. WAR 26.9, two WS losses, .304/.350/.451, 106 OPS+ Unless Michael Young becomes Barry Bonds and suddenly gets better at the end of his career, there's no way he gets in. (Note: I don't care about WS results in HOF and this doesn't take into affect defense. But we all know that this is how the voters will look at it.)
