  1. The day the courts allowed the Pilots to leave Seattle was a pretty big one too. And the day we decided to move to the NL. Or the day The Keg was green lighted.
  2. My prediction is 1-2 in Colorodo and 0-3 in Houston. By the time the Brewers come back it will be back to firing Ned Yost.
  3. At the beginning of last year Counsell was asked about his success with the bases loaded. He said he knows the pitcher wants to throw strikes and not walk him in that situation. So he becomes very aggressive with the bases loaded knowing the first or second pitch will be a fastball that catches a lot of white. I was explaining this to my mom yesterday when he came up, and sure enough he jumped all over the first pitch fastball. I don't think that's luck, I think that's Counsell showing he's a smart hitter. He may not be a very good hitter, but he knows when the situation is in his favor and takes advantage of it. Just like Kapler saying on the B&B show that a pitch hitter should go up and look to hit the first fastball they see, since nearly all relief pitchers have a devastating offspead pitch.
  4. Here's a short answer to calculate earned vs unearned. How many runs would that pitcher have given up if there had been no errors? You can't assume a DP or a Caught Stealing.
  5. IIRC, the scoreboard is over the field of play, so it's "only" 402 feet away from home. During warmups for the HR derby, I saw Vlad hit the ball farther than anyone I've seen. He hit the scoreboard by the ?Pepsi? sign next to the color scoreboard. The one at the top of the stadium. Sosa hit one during the contest that went out but wasn't as far. Vlad's ball was just reaching it's apex when it smacked off the sign. When Sosa was later caught with a corked bat, I started to wonder if they were all using corked bats during warmups. Vlad, Sosa, and someone else (don't remember who) where in the same group and were launching them wayyyy farther then what they hit during the contest.
  6. McClung will pitch a 10 inning no hitter! Then he will be called up to AA. I'm hoping for any type of win that doesn't put a Brewer on the DL.
  7. http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/4030/villagepp1.jpg The Indian. The others look a little...not macho.
  8. We have always been at war with Eastasia
  9. I missed the news until BA was giving us the hitting line up. I am so pumped to have a good lefty on the team and a bad one sent back down.
  10. LD% is based on the percentage of balls put into play. This year Weeks has been striking out less, and a lot of those are probably turning into GBs instead of Ks. That will lower his LD%, but increase his value. You can reach on an error or non-error infield hit, where as a strikeout is an out. I'm not optimistic about the Brewers chances, but remain high on the potential of Rickie.
  11. I think he looks bigger. He always had a lot of muscle on top of fat. Now it looks like fat on top of muscle. Prince's weight was a concern before the draft. We knew when we got him he would not be in the field by the time he turned 30. I just hope he waits 4 years and implodes while being paid by the Sox.
  12. Who, besides The Rock, couldn't guess the trivia question?
  13. Should I be happy Counsell doesn't swing the bat? Holy Sheeter!
  14. Does it matter? I'd like to stay away from the area code of that scale. Alex Ochoa: December 14, 1998: Traded by the Minnesota Twins to the Milwaukee Brewers for a player to be named later. (Darrell Nicholas) January 14, 2000: Traded by the Milwaukee Brewers to the Cincinnati Reds for a player to be named later and Mark Sweeney. (Gene Altman) January 21, 2002: Traded as part of a 3-team trade by the Colorado Rockies to the Milwaukee Brewers. So that was Alex's 2nd stint in Milwaukee. After we didn't want him 2 years earlier. And 7th on his most comparable players: Gabe Kapler. The Dean years have been deleted from my main memory so I can no longer add any input to his reign.
  15. My first year as a full season ticket holder was 2002. If I had the courage to renew that year, I can find some to pay out more money for 09.
  16. Maybe he just wanted a chance to sit at Fenway and watch a Brewers game, since we only go there every 10 years. A lot of people from this site did the same thing. It may be no bigger than that. The day is not yet half over. Plenty of time for a move.
  17. As true as that may be, you better believe Boras would use a ROY award in contract/arbitration cases.
  18. I think it was a pure compliment. Good pitches are still turned into hits and you are scared of throwing mistakes. So what if they hit most of their HRs off of mistakes? The pitcher will be more afraid of throwing that mistake than they will against Kendall. For some pitchers, this will lead to more mistakes. If Hunter Pence hit 4 HRs in two days we might not like him all that well either.
  19. Jump, Jump, Jump! After we fire Ned, After we fire Ned, After we fire Ned! Why be sane?
  20. Fastballs never rise, but some (like Sheets') don't drop as quickly as others. Hitter swing under it and it seems like it "rose" above the bat. Sheets pitched Saturday. I remember thinking at the game there were a lot of broken bats (five iirc). So if Ben hasn't broken a bat while pitching in four years he certainly made up ground.
  21. Young players would benefit more from playing every day rather than platooning. Especially for defensive purposes, he needs to be out there, not sitting on the bench.
  22. You'll also disintegrate a lot of balls http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Clemens had to remove the patch because you can't have a white circle anywhere on you while on the mound. It looks too much like a ball. But I see no reason why a player can't have a colored bat. I wonder if MLB purposely makes the pink bats harder to make sure more of them get through the day in one piece.
  23. I believe he "only" threw 86 pitches because he was getting lit up by Los Vegas. But I don't check the Minors, so I could be wrong.
  24. Yet if a player who never hits lefties has a couple of hot games against righties, Flanders will start him the next game against a lefty because he's "hot".
