  1. 2nd Game, 2nd inning, Prince Fielder.
  2. I don't follow golf, but I thought the first golfers were always the ones nobody really followed so nobody would mind if they start early.
  3. For those that are superstitious, and most ballplayers are, try this nugget. WISN was the flagship in 81 and 82, then Bud went back to TMJ. What are special about those years? Those are also the only two years the franchise has ever reached the post season. Also, it was WISN that thought it was a good idea to convince other stations in the state to carry the Brewers, for a small fee to WISN. Thus, the creation of the Brewers Radio Network.
  4. I already submitted vacation days for all day games for the season. I had 4 weeks of vacation saved up and spent them well. edit: I did mean all home day games.
  5. He's basically Chad Moeller with wheels.
  6. Look at how much we overrated (by that I mean we thought we could trade him) Vargas. I'd consider this a toss up, just like winning the division.
  7. AL WEST 1. Mariners 2. Athletics 3. LAAoAiCbtM 4. Rangers AL CENTRAL 1. Tigers 2. Indians 3. Twinkies 4. Royals 5. White Sox AL EAST 1. Red Sox 2. Yankees 3. Blue Jays 4. Devil Rays 5. 8. And of all the places to put him, let's bat him right next to the only other lefty. I'm having a hard time containing my anger right now.
  9. All pitchers throw a fastball. The other pitches all work better if you can threaten throwing a straigter but faster pitch. Shouse's slider is also called The Frisbe. And I believe Hall has been working on his S Pitch, last seen in a game of RBI Baseball.
  10. That's easy, Exhibition Crew. Brewers > everything in the world :p
  11. It would have been better for the prequels, but not for the original trillogy. The absolute stunner at the end of ESB and the ohg you kissed your sister in RotJ would have been lost if you watch I-III first. That's why I think it would have been better if Padme had not named the kids, nor should we have found out where Leia was going. In fact, it might have been nice if Ben left the room with Luke and the doctorbots were surprised to find another kid coming out. I think the main problem with Episodes I-III is that Lucas was infallible at that point. He didn't even direct V and VI. The directors and actors (especially Ford) made changes to the lines to make them more realistic. The constraints of the technology also forced Lucas to focus closer on the actors and it caused better interaction. When a character in Episode II is doing an scene by themselves in front of a giant green tarp it is hard for them to give a believable performance. When the actors in the Original Trillogy had to interact with each other and the props they each gave a little of themselves into the performance. Episode I-III is like a one-man act since only Lucas's voice and action were allowed.
  12. I have all 10 seasons so I re-watch the episodes all the time. Chilli-Con Carnival, Ninja Weapons, The Return of Chef, just too many good episodes to name.
  13. All fantasy trades also need to be judged by what the rest of your team looks like. If you have a stud 1B you don't need to trade two starters for another stud 1B, as an example. But trading good talent for bad talent to fill a hole is always bad.
  14. I love hockey, but the "penalty" is a joke. Somebody that fights serves a 5 minute detention and then can come back into the game. And rarely is there a financial penalty. At least do something like baseball and football and eject the player for the rest of the game. I bet that rule change would instantly reduce the number of fights.
  15. I wonder how quickly Prince jumps to top 5 status when he signs with Boston/New York? I bet the national (read: New England) media won't stop talking about how great he is when that happens.
  16. I'd jump on the over for anyone offering 83.5.
  17. The only problem Yost has is in the middle of a game decision. Something tells me DM has very little input on who to PH or which reliever to use.
  18. I wasn't trying to imply that trading for Mota was a good deal. I was just pointing out that between the two, on March 25th, Vargas is the odd man out. I agree that we would have been better served non-tendering Estrada and cutting Vargas. It's a long offseason when letting go of a barely above replacement player causes 5 pages in one day. I can't wait for Saturday. (My first chance to see them this year)
  19. Mota is in the last year of a multi-year deal. Hence, the Brewers have to pay the salary no matter what. They can cut Vargas and cut his salary. They might simply be close to equal but cutting Vargas saves money. Obviously Vargas isn't worth $3M that some people think a #4-#5 is worth. Any team could have picked him up for that $3M if they paid the Brewers $20K. If 30 teams do not believe someone is worth $3M of his money, he's probably not worth $3M. Since he's such a non-wanted player (ala Estrada), I'm glad he is no longer on the team.
  20. Looking closely at the Brewers Bench, no wonder we're ranked 3rd. They have our three best bench players as Gwynn, Cousell, and Munson. I wonder what happened to Gross, Kapler, Dillon, etc?
  21. I know Russ is much better at stats than I am. But I do have a question about the projections. If the Brewers are projected to win the division 30% of the time and have the 2nd highest total, does that necessarily mean that they are projected to finish in 2nd? I think that just means they are projected to finish 1st 30% of the time. If they are projected 2nd 20% and 3rd 50%, doesn't that mean they are projected to finish 3rd? I still think they are projected for 2nd, but that graph doesn't show it.
  22. I can't shake the feeling that the constant pitching Ben on four days rest no matter what might have some factor in his injuries. Especially with the rumors of his lack of conditioning, mabye it's important to give him those extra off days Aprils allow pitchers.
  23. I went with Prince and Braun as great. Hart, Hall, and Weeks and above average. Our bench players were all rated low. Since Fielder has a better chance at getting a single (25 points higher in career minor league batting average), I don't think they are pretty even. 2007 stats: Rottion .500 Hart .339 Mench .329 Braun .328 Gwynn .310 Dillon .300 Hardy .293 Hall .273 Fielder .271 Jenkins .264 Estrada .239 Counsell .233 Graffanino .217 Miller .204 Weeks .178 Gross .170 Nix .000 Rivera .000
  24. I keep all flavors of Sweet Baby Rays that I can get my hands on. I use BBQ sause on most meats and for dipping fries. I also keep Chipotle BBQ sauce from McDonald's around. It's good with the Chicken Selects and the fries. And I go to BW3s at least once a month and get the Sweet BBQ. My girl doesn't bother to ask what condiments I want anymore. She just knows she needs to set Sweet Baby Rays out.
  25. I had a Russian student in my classes here at an American college. The classes were German 101 & 102. She was a French major. I was awed by her communication skills and we all cut her slack when she made mistakes. Took the survey for you.
