  1. The Flamingo's a decent hotel. And you get free passes into the park. Once you're inside, you can buy 1/2 price tickets for the next day. I recomend that hotel for anyone looking to stay in the Dells and go to Noah's Ark for 2 days.
  2. Now more often than not the parents seem to side with kid, no matter the circumstances, and want to know why their child was singled out. They aren't as upset about what the child did, as why they are the only parents that have to meet with the teacher. This was a major factor. Add that the administrators also sided against the teacher to keep the parents from yelling at them. Then people would complain that I was overpaid. I was able to get a full time gig at my part time job that required no education (the person that was above me graduated high school with a D+), had less responsibilities, and paid more.
  3. I always have an extra in my bag. Just don't put me in the OF today. I've played every day this week and can't be running around again.
  4. different networks competing for the idol crowd.
  5. I love competition. I enjoy a struggle between teams or people. I can watch Wimbleton all day. Golf bores me, since it's more of a struggle with oneself and how that ranks with others. Baseball has the duel between pitcher and batter, battery and base stealer, manager against manager, and team versus team. I love order and numbers. I love manipulating numbers (although not quite to the extent of some sabermen). Almost everything in baseball can be categorized. That can't be said in other sports. How well a SS covers a TE on a Go route isn't put into numbers well. I love the thinking of the game. Throwing an 0-2 fastball eye high looks like a missed pitch by some fans. But you can delve deeper and find that sometimes a ball is thrown on purpose to set up the next pitch. There are more, but I have to get going at work.
  6. It's important that her doctors and friends all reinforce the idea that this is survivable. It would also help her to talk to others that had/have it. It doesn't feel like you want to talk to them at the time, but the message eventually sinks in. It also helps to know family and friends still love and care about her. If gives a reason to keep fighting.
  7. I'm a very shy person. It's hard for me to go out with my friends, let alone with friends of someone I just started seeing 6 weeks ago. Your roommate should tell her that it would mean a lot to him if she hung out with his friends more. And explain that it's ok if they don't go out together all the time. Also, is she not going out because she has other things to do (she's busy and there isn't much to stop that) or does she just rather sit at home?
  8. That attitude is exactally why I quit being a teacher. If the kids haven't been taught to respect their parents, how will they respect teachers, coaches, umpires, and their classmates? Lay down the rules on day one, and do not let them bend. The kids will try your patience and see how far the can get away with bad behavior. They will keep pushing the envelope unless you establish right away that the envelope does not move.
  9. I'd wish him luck, but we have a good chance of seeing the Mets in the NLCS. I hope he sucks it up, is picked up by an AL team or the Brewers, and then does well.
  10. I think Melvin is trying to move a SP. He said over and over again (Sexson, Po, Overbay) that you get more for moving every day players in the off season and pitching during the season. I think it's clear that the 5 we have now will not be the 5 we use next year (CV the Younger and Yo are making this statement). Therefore, the best possible time to get the most from the trade would be to do it in the next couple of weeks. Although you normally don't trade to a contenter during a season you're making a run I don't think it would hurt to make a trade with the AL. (Vargas for A-Rod!)
  11. I've bought a pair at Dunham's before. But I lose sunglasses to easily to buy more.
  12. I always follow the ASG. In '02 instead of watching on free TV, I paid $1000 to the Brewers for 2 seats in the second deck of the bleachers. And at the end of what could have been the best ASG ever, the Millionares and Billionares decided they were tired of performing for a game that didn't count and were just going to quit. If the game didn't mean that much, then why did I have to pay more than the $10 those seats cost for a game that "counted"? I don't mind that the ASG now "means something". It's better than the way they've decided the home field advantage for the first 100 WS.
  13. Darn it. I think Prince is done for the game.
  14. I once saw a sports car (Ferrari or similar) being driven by a blond bombshell. The plate was "I WON".
  15. I would be willing to bet that all these ESPN bashers watch it quite often. My guess is because they are all saying it was better 10 years ago with Dan and Keith. Of course it seems everything was better 10 years ago when something is as popular as ESPN for so long now. In college (97-01) the only time ESPN wasn't on was for South Park and the History Channel. Now that they lost their Sunday show, I can't remember watching it unless they are showing a Brewers game.
  16. Uggh, I'm sorry. What were you saying? My mind seemed to have wandered... She's an adult that had a picture taken of her while she was out in public. Unless we get some Thought Police, there is nothing she can do. If she is getting harassed in real life, she needs some protection and those guys are jerks. If she's just getting glances from guys, well she could get that anyway since she's gorgeous.
  17. This is like the SI cover curse. Good players that are very hot are due to fall back to earth. YatR picked some of the hotter Brewers, and now they are cold regressing their numbers to mean.
  18. In 2001 I had the 20 game pack in Row 8 Section 102. You can't see the scoreboard and can't see balls hit over 50 ft in the air. I'd rather be sitting in the 4th deck than those (except my mom is more afraid of heights than I am so it's out of the question). Row 2 in the bleachers isn't that bad. You can still see the scoreboard, and only Row 1 is not underneath the second deck so that is where the beer goes. But I'm in Row 1 because the first row has more leg room all around the stadium.
  19. If Black Americans will only follow a team that has black stars, and Latino Americans will only follow a team that has latino stars, will White Americans only follow a team that has white stars? Or are White Americans the only ones that don't care about the color of skin? I agree that we shouldn't ignore racism. But E King thinks every problem in the world is caused by racism, and he's starting to sound like Chicken Little.
  20. Or how about scoring more than 4 runs in a game you hit 4 HRs?
  21. I like listening to Belling, but he should stay in the politics talk and stop talking sports. I've met more drunk chicks at bars that have more "insight" into our local teams. Didn't he say last year that we needed to dump Sheets and name Cappy our "Ace"? And now he thinks Cappy should be replaced by a 21 y.o.? (da-da-dum) We really need to find a replacement for Weeks. Too bad there was nobody available during the offseason. What would be perfect would be a left-handed hitter with two world series wins, and it would be cool if he was from Wisconsin. Maybe also grab a right handed veteran stick. And make sure both guys are athletic enough to play all over the infield. Doug needs to make this his #1 priority. Oh, and this paragraph needs to be in blue.
  22. I think we're limiting the innings now so we can use them in September and *knock knock* in October. Villy has pitched into September, but I don't think Yo or Parra have. And I don't think they are reducing the innings on Villy, they made a decision to keep him in the pen since he's been doing so well out there.
  23. Sheets may throw 2-3 innings on Tuesday. Would we start him on Friday, or wait until Sat? So you have the Cubs going 12-5 huh? At 11-6 they would still be just tied with us. Somehow I don't see the Cubs playing that well. Didn't calculate that. The Cubs will go 10-7, so I guess we'll still have one game on them.
  24. 1/3 from the Rockies 2/4 from the Dbacks 2/3 from the Giants 1/4 from the Reds 1/4 from the Cards 7-11 in that stretch. By the time the Cards are finished with us, we will be in 2nd place. We will free fall faster than a 300 lb meteor. But there's always next year.
