  1. Without looking, iirc Berkman has more power hitting righty so you don't want to throw a lefty against him in Houston and a tie game. Being the only lefty except long man Parra I think he just hasn't had a situation to use him.
  2. If Braun keeps hitting at his .350 while slugging .680 I will take his defensive woes. He won't be able to keep up that pace, but I believe he will also improve his denfense. Braun is the last guy on this team that I'm worried about. I'd take Weeks's and Hall's bad defense if they would hit like I think they could. You should go out and get 8 hitters and just fit them somewhere on the diamond and not worry too much about defense.
  3. Weeks had to range pretty far up the hole to get to it and went to set his feet so he wouldn't make an off-balance throw that would go into the stands. He was just surprised to see a pitcher actually hustle down the line. I thought pitchers and catchers weren't supposed to run? I'm getting upset with the bandwagon fans. They wanted Cappy out of the game right away, even though Parra was obviously not loose yet. They clapped when Yost came to get Cappy. Then they cursed Yost when Parra gave up some walks and hits. Well who did you think was going to come into the game? And this is the same Parra that you want to start the game instead of Cappy? Let alone when they boo Weeks for taking pitches. We make Wells throw 26 pitches in the first inning and do a good job of being patient. Then he only uses 33 to get through the next 3 innings. If we had continued to be patient and make him pitch, the Cards would have had to pull their pitcher early also. That is the difference I see in the Brewers offense and other teams.
  4. You know she's smokin when the only bad part you can find is her belly button. Go ahead and take the picture. I found it via google and stole it from some other site. If I knew Alyssa in real life, any pictures of her would not be appropriate on BF.net.
  5. http://mlb.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pMLB2-3313135dt.jpg I was going to suggest Prozac day, where everyone had to post happy thoughts. Then I saw it's Alyssa Milano day and realized it would achieve a similar result. Wrong team, but at least she is thinking baseball. I'm at work and can't edit it http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Let's get a W.
  6. But FSN wasn't receiving their fair share from the ads. So you really can't make FSN fork over more money unless you make all advertisers from those years retroactively pay FSN.
  7. I'm still waiting to bring my dog to The Keg. He's a total chick magnet and there have been some mighty fine women at the park for the past three years.
  8. We don't need to set the 25 man roster until October, so hopefully by then Weeks is back on track.
  9. 1) The ushers need to curtail bad fans. A 1-2 count is not the time for an entire family of four to get up to get more food. And chanting "you suck" to a ballplayer is getting old. If you don't even know how to pronounce his name, you shouldn't be heckling him the whole game. If he makes an error or can actually use his personal life to make it funny (Dukes is just asking for this) then it's almost tollerable to listen to. 2) I can't trade my tickets for giveaway days. Well, I wouldn't want to if your giveaway days were during the week, but they are always the Friday, Saturday, Sunday that my entire family can actually attend without missing sleep. 3) Since you aren't curbing #1, why is the stick still up your butt? Yesterday someone was sitting in his 20-game seat next to me. Another group was sold the same seats online via Brewers dot com. The usher decided that standing in the row along with the four people in question during the first inning was the best way to solve it. When my mom mentioned that he should probably do that in the aisle he gave her a dirty look and told her he was doing the best he could. 4) I have first row bleacher seats. I try to get to the game a little over an hour early. Yet there are always tons of people all over my seat and they get real pushy when a ball comes in our direction and lands 30 ft short of the wall. Then I get to hear "Hey mister, throw it here!" being shouted by 30 people. If you don't know his name, he probably won't throw it to you. And go to your own seat and get a ball. I don't come and shove you out of the way when foul balls come your way. I totally blame The Keg for all of these.
  10. Endaround is correct. I can't at work, but compare his numbers now to his numbers at August 4th of last year and I'm sure you'll see a huge difference.
  11. JoeHavva, I'm using IE 6.0.2 (only because I'm at work) and the bread crumbs are white. So I doubt it's an issue with Mozilla. B19, the solution is easy. Don't make anybody your friend and don't log out http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  12. The Whale's Vagina Clergymen
  13. Hardy is a dead pull hitter. He can hit to RF, but he has a better swing when he's trying to pull the ball. Early in the season, the book on Hardy was to pitch him fastballs on the inside half. That was based on how he swung when he was injured for the last two years. But he killed that pitch for the first two months of the year. Now pitchers know that they should never throw him that pitch. An offspeed pitch on the outside corner turns that same swing into a weak ground ball. I think JJ just needs to go out there and start looking to drive it to right center. As the #2 hitter that is his second job description, hit the ball the other way.
  14. I always thought Ned's problem was that he stays at Motel 6's.
  15. I think you can own one team and try to buy another team. It would just be in the contract that he sells his shares of the Brewers. Didn't the old Expos owner sell the team so he could buy the Marlins so that dude could buy the Red Sox?
  16. I had decided 3 weeks ago to skip the game and play softball with my friends. The team sucks but I went 2 for 3, played perfect defense, and Glavine failed to get 300. Now I'm glad I made the decision. It also helps that I will be able to catch the other 5 games of the homestand.
  17. The umpires' egos are too big to allow the scoreboard to even show "close" plays. It will take a lot of work to allow them to actually look at the replay and change their ruling. They are like the Pope, they are infallible and any suggestion otherwise would destroy the institution.
  18. The other thing is that you are now getting guys warmed up every time Turnbow gives up a runner. Warming up wears down your arm and having a guy ready every time in that situation will destroy your bullpen in the last two months.
  19. I would always wait until a walk off opportunity to run a squeeze. If you are talking about a specific play in a specific game, refer to it in the IGT. Mwa ha ha ha.
  20. Make sure to put out a press release. I'd love to see that ad on jsonlie, brewers.com, The Keg's scoreboard, and espn.com.
  21. I'd show up if BF.net's team wanted to make an appearance.
  22. The dude is a closer on the team. I can't imagine him being used before the 8th inning. Why should he not be comfortable in the clubhouse for 5 of those innings? There is no reason for him to be out there except to cheer for his team. And if that is what is calling us to lose, we have a pretty weak hearted team.
  23. I agree that I'd like to see more runs via non-HRs, but that doesn't mean I want the HR totals to go down. Nor do I want "smallball" of giving away outs or chancing CS. I want more games like last night where everyone is poking singles and doubles all over the field. It takes more effort to score a run this way, but it also makes the pitcher work harder. Getting 3 singles in an inning and having the pitcher spend the entire time in the stretch will make him wear out faster than hitting a solo shot. Plus, if you keep putting men on those solo shots start becoming 2 and 3 run "daggers". I have a problem with OBP, not the HR total.
  24. Maybe we can burn through the bullpen tonight and really catch them the next three games.
